Got to give it to the guy.. I've been sceptical of Canelo since i first saw him fight against Jose Cotto a few years back. Believed he was a protected fighter who would be exposed sooner rather than later. Obviously they've slowly built this guy against average fighters and guys from lower divisions eg Lopez. I can't help but give credit to him for his fight against Trout.
His defence and upper body movement was pretty dam good, i havent seen him move like that previously. This was against a good genuine opponent in Trout. His power and speed was also impressive. His only shortfall was looking obviously fatigued. There has been a genuine improvement. Though IMO he gets beat by a volume fighter with good movement, not sure who in the division meets that description.
Cant help to give credit to the guy for beating a very credible opponent.
The only problem I see which is a big one is the fact that he has stamina issues from the 6th round onwards, I mean it was soo obvious it was alarming, to be honest I thought he would do better than he did but he did impress me enough to give him 8 rounds, he either must be having weight issues to be that tired after 6 rounds because he was throwing a lot of punches or missing much punches neither or the lay off affected him a bit.
what was impressive bout Canelo is that he beat Trout at his own game. Trout counters everything u throw at him, controls the pace with his jab n good movement. Canelo was able to get his shots off and get out before Trout can counter him. he forced Trout to come out of his game and fight a different game 2nd half of the fight. Trout would of easily had his way if Canelo came in aggressively going for ko. Canelo fought smart and showed very good discipline..

Exactly, he adapted to the rival very well.
Canelo obviously has some major flaws to work on, particularly his footwork and stamina, but you have to be impressed that despite those flaws he was still able to beat Trout. His defense and head movement looked good. As long as he can do something about his poor stamina he'll be fine.

Actually, Trout was forced out of his game because the open scoring was letting him know ahead of time that he was getting robbed so then Trout had no choice but to take chances while Canelo coasted like he did in the last round. Trout was fighting Canelo and the judges. 118-109 :nonono: Even Canelo's brother didn't score it that lop sided.
To the people that are saying Canelo wasn't impressive. Are you guys trolling? Or are you guys off your meds?
i think their in realty..................
spin it a million other ways. but it wasn't a impressive performance............

How can anybody be impressed with Canelo and then say Floyds slowing down? This dude was dead tired after 6 rounds. He dropped Trout in the first 15 seconds of round 7 and didnt even try to finish him off. Now I actually like Canelo a lot. Ive never been a hater but I was disappointed in what I saw Saturday.
He did show some accurate punching, a very decent speed and head movement.
But he don't punch when he is defensive minded and he only fights in spurts.
He has progressed but he is far from elite
He looked horrible, I hear everyone talking good about him. Then I actually see him fight Trout.. his footwork was horrible and only aiming for power shots. He'd get destroyed by any top #5
