I am a serious believer that skillwise donaire is the #1 p4p fighter in the world. But how would the current 122lb kings fare against their contemporaries???

I've just always wondered...since there was only 1 second left in the round what would have happened if the bell had rung first. Would it have been a non-call since they were in the middle of an exchange? Does it becomr a no contest? Or does he get disqualified

Dude has had his belt for like forever now in a division so loaded with talent it's ridiculous. Since k9 won his belt the division has seen the rise and/or fall of kirkland, angulo, williams, martinez, lara, jacobs, trout, cotto, mayweather, cintron, and canelo. And you're telling me in a span of roughly 2 years k9 couldnt land a fight with any of thrm??? So is he being avoided? Or does he want no part of the legitimate field of contenders??

Its getting embarassing. Everything from marquez being on peds to manny being reckless and on the decline. 1st off that was the best pac has looked since the cotto fight. He was fast, trim, determined and well conditioned. He came ready to fight. 2nd marquez getting stronger shouldnt be a surprise since he's had about a full year working on it. He hadnt had a fight since the 3rd fight while pac was busy looking past bradley putting on a pathetic effort. 3rd pacquiao making a mistake isnt anywhere close to the same as being reckless. The knockdown and knockout came from the same kind of punches marquez had landed on him hundreds od times before. He brings his hand down after he jabs and marquez always capitalizes with a right. Unfortunately for pac..he squared up going for the finish thinking he had marquez hurt. 4th it shouldnt be that big of a surprise to anyone. Marquez was the only fighter to land flush on pac since the 130lb division. Since then his chin hadnt come close to being touched by the bigger guys who couldnt keep up with his speed.

is it the greatest rivalry in boxing history given how close and action packed the fights have been? How do they rate compared to the frazier-alis and lamotta-robinsons in boxing history

If pacquiao loses to marquez on saturday he will have lost 2 in a row. 3 in a row to some. And pac has way too many things going for him outside of boxing to keep competing at anything below world class level. So if he loses this weekend will it be the end of the road for the great manny pacquiao???

Cant post links through my phone but the out of work football player and reality star was active on twitter and facebook this morning saying he was going to spar 10rds with miguel cotto today as he prepares for his december bout. What a horrible, horrible idea for cotto. Even if its only to humor johnson its a waste of valuable time.

Add cameos by hometown legends like mike tyson and you have a recipe for unprecedented success that sustains the sport for at least another generation. Gbp should keep its world tour going. I look forward to them organizing cards in cities like detroit, paying homage to tommy hearns and james toney in the process. An ongoing issue i've had with filipino sports media is that not too long ago brian viloria was the 2nd biggest filipino star next to manny pacquiao. But ever since viloria's tainted losses against omar nino and donaire's spectacular ko of darchinyan...nonito donaire has become the new media darling and viloria has never regained his celebrity status despite recapturing a world title. I've asked several members of filipino media the reason for this and the most common response was along the lines of donaire embraces his filipino heritage therefore making more compelling storylines while viloria is more american as evidenced by his competing for the u.s. olympic team as opposed to the philippines. Everytime I heard this I was like wtf??? How is donaire more filipino than viloria? Because he was born there?? Viloria qualified for the u.s. olympic team by beating donaire. Has actually spent more total hours living in the philippines and has had more fights there than donaire. Way to jump on a bandwagon and simultaneously be willfully ignorant of members of your own community philippines

Rios vs alvarado was fun and all but I thought madaina vs soto-karass had a better ebb and flow plus all the blatant foul retaliation and punching after the bell gave it more drama ans better overall experience

I think Martinez is going to be the clear winner personally and itll be his best win since williams. But a chavez win would mark the beginning of a new folk legend; the birth of a real "vaca de dinero" as the next big ppv star. Thats why for the sake of the sport chavez must beat martinez.

Cotto should have kept punching when floyd bent down past the waist. Or at the very least shoved him to the mat whenever he did it. Floyd would not have been able to complain about getting hit in the back of the head since its illegal to bend your head past the waist.

When you think of the best "boxers" floyd has ever faced cotto actually comes up on a very short list. Oscar was by nowhere close to being a pure boxer by the time floyd faced him and cotto did beat judah who floyd had trouble with.

All while making a new excuse for floyd to duck pac. Just some of my favorites from the past evening: "this kind of thing happens all the time. Noone should fight top rank fighters" All the time based on what??? aside from tonight...of all the robberies of the past year only 1 top rank fight comes up and compared to all the other robberies pac/marquez is the least likely to be a robbery. Maybe when they say all the time they're referring to arumpaying off judges to secure a win for floyd against castillo. "this is exactly why floyd wont take pac's winner take all offer" Completely irrelevant since floyd wants the whole pie from the start anyway. We all know the fight does 150mil minimum. Floyd's 40 mil offer is 80/20 split as best 90/10 or worse if it does over 200mil which is very likely. Might as well make it winner take all. "floyd will whoop pac for 12rds and arum will make sure pac wins by decision anyway" Then why fight pac at all if he's guaranteed to get screwed??? Better yet...floyd is also a promoter. What is keeping floyd from double or tripling arum's bribe to the judges to secure a win for himself since floyd had just as much if not more money than arum???

Floyd fans always say that floyd clearly beat oscar and there was no need for a rematch Well if that's true then how do you explain floyd's actions leading up to a rematch?? With a rematch looming floyd threatened to fire uncle roger if he trained steve forbes against dlh. Then floyd demanded more money given success of the 1st match. Oscar responded by offering floyd an unheard of 60million guaranteed. Floyd chose to retire. Why?? I thought if it made dollars it made sense.

According to floyd mayweather jr. Floyd said himself that cotto lost to clottey. He also said that cotto's loss to margarito doesnt count because of the plaster. Therefore clottey's loss to margarito is also void. That means clottey entered the pacquiao fight on an 18fight win streak over names like corrales, judah and cotto. So there we have it folks. Clottey is pac's best welter win.

When you think boxing town...philly or detroit would be the 1st thing that pops into most peoples' heads. But for the rest of the world...what does it take to be considered a boxing town??? Is it the number of pro fighters they produce? The number of gyms?? The amount of fights held there? Vegas is considered by many the boxing capital of the world but to my knowledge there's only 2 boxing gyms there and 1 of them is private.(excuse me if this wrong) But point is...what constitutes a boxing town???

Like him, hate him, or indifferent....floyd has the most effective training schedule in boxing. Im wondering why more fighters don't train at night. It modifies your biological clock to be at it's peak performance at night when fights take place. It is also cooler at night which makes it more comfortable when running and getting out of the gym which reduces the risk of cramps and eases soreness.

they're probably not going to....but I'm thinking if they stacked the card like gbp does with floud fights then they have a really good shot. But even if top rank wanted to, who do they have available for june 9th?? All their big names seem booked already.

First flomos knew all things statistics regarding ppv and revenue. Then they all became certified ped experts. Then they all had law degrees. now flomos are all accountants that know exactly what pac and floyd make. I wonder what flomos will turn into next when floyd's next roadblock comes up.

Donaire dropped him. Arce finished him. So this notion that donaire-arce wouldnt be the least bit competitive is silly. It'd be foty contender and infinitely more entertaining than a rigondeaux fight. Arce deserves his chance at cashing out and opportunity to go out on top.

Freddie roach catches alott flack around here for being overrated because he trains established fighters instead of building from scratch. Dundee though has followed a similar path in his much longer career. having his biggest successes with already successful fighters and established olympic medalists. What exactly makes dundee any better than roach???
