Floyd fans always say that floyd clearly beat oscar and there was no need for a rematch
Well if that's true then how do you explain floyd's actions leading up to a rematch??
With a rematch looming floyd threatened to fire uncle roger if he trained steve forbes against dlh.
Then floyd demanded more money given success of the 1st match. Oscar responded by offering floyd an unheard of 60million guaranteed. Floyd chose to retire. Why?? I thought if it made dollars it made sense.
Oh lets not get it twisted. The thread has to do with Pac. Out of all the true close, competitive, arguable fights that Oscar had. You picked one that he was lucky to win 4 rounds if that in. And, it just so happened to be against your favorite main rival.
And, then you straight make up a fabrication lie to prove a point that doesn't exist.
OG Jro keeping it 100 as usual!! :fing02:
and HELL YEA, Oscar lost and it wasn't even close...GBP keeps at least one judge on payroll....and I think Floyd didn't want Roger training Forbes because he probably thought Roger could HELP Stevie beat Oscar which would've messed up his payday for the rematch...but Oscar being the pig he is didn't wanna split the money right.....even though Floyd won the first fight...thats my 2 pennies!!
A lot of experts and ringside reporters had De la hoya winning as I did, I had it 115-113 live and 117-111 for Oscar after rewatching it. A lot of experts consider it floyds second loss after the castillo roberry.
only way floyd won is if u give points for running and holding
thats not boxing.
Floyd got a gift decision plain and simple
Castillo, Judah and Ortiz beat his ass worse
I don't know if the two of you let hatred cloud your vision or if you are just plain stupid.

this subject always exposes the group that doesn't knwo how to score fights
oscar won 3 rounds, 4 tops
Lol this is the number 1 comment in these threads what makes anyone perfectly right in how they score a fight or better yet what's the right way? Everyone has different ways to score...
Yes he beat him clearly but it was closer then some people make it out to be I feel this way because it wasn't Floyd just being able to do whatever he wants he was pushed around bullied somewhat so it was competitive because of oscars size and flurries I mean granted he never landed a bunch of punches he still was throwing and hitting something which scores points plus it looks good hence why there was a SD but Floyd still one landing the harder and more effective punches...just my thought

Even if it made sense, whats the point of having a rematch with a washed up oscar?..even if it was SLIGHTLY competitive, what good does that do Floyd, to give Oscar a rematch, like its some top opponent who who created a war with Floyd...he created a war, but u would place an emphysis on how much Floyd struggled with a bum, by doing a rematch and making it seem like a rematch was needed...Floyd was right, to sweep it under the rug

I never did see a clear win for Mayweather to be frank, I saw him winning but not claer-cut, And we didnt need a rematch at that time and am glad the rematch didnt happen because the first fight was nothing to write home about and people werent interested in a rematch, at that time people wanted him to fight Cotto, Hatton or Margarito..

BTW Oscar won 3 rounds.
i watched that fight with probably 14 or so people at my house for it...nobody in the room was left even arguing that ODLH won Floyd had taken over fairly early and controlled the fight for most of the way. the fact that years later all of a sudden all these pacfluffers show up talking about floyd almost lost to oscar is just hilarious beyond belief.
Thread has nothing to do with pac. Discussion is if he beat him so clearly why did he go out of his way to avoid a rematch despite the largest payday of his life when floyd is known for both if it makes dollars it makes sense and immediately rematching disputed decisions to leave no doubt.

Official score was a split decision, it was a sparring session. How can you say that? Watch it again.

Yes. and I'm an Oscar fan.
Then why threaten to fire uncle roger if he trained forbes???
Only 2 plausible reasons are either floyd was worried forbes would actually beat oscar and jeopardize the biggest payday of his life or that floyd felt the fight was close enough that uncle roger would give away enough of his game to give oscar the edge in a rematch.

It was a snoozer of a fight, but I thought Dela Hoya did enough to win that fight and not the split decision that was handed out. It wasn't much of a fight, but Hoya was landing his jabs and out landing Mayweather. It was more a sparring session than anything.
Mayweather then goes on a holiday instead of a rematch, which is just weird.
Dela Hoya had to look for a named fighter to dance with and that's what gave Pacquiao the break to the top.
