I know its another pac-marquez thread mods. Please dont ban me. Feel free to delete or move thread to proper section. I've just always wondered...since there was only 1 second left in the round what would have happened if the bell had rung first.
Would it have been a non-call since they were in the middle of an exchange? Does it becomr a no contest? Or does he get disqualified
Well JMM wouldn't get dqed thats for sure. When its loud, as it was bound to be on that night, fighters frequently don't even hear the bell, which is why the ref needs to jump in.
A second or two after the bell first rings, that would've been interesting. Because PAC would still be out cold.
I'm pretty sure what would happen is what happens when an accidental clash of heads ends a fight, it would've gone to the cards. And in that case Pac would've won. Would've been strange, a fighter gets devastatingly koed, but wins.
lol Marquez would have gone mental! Imagine how annoying that would have been!
Barrios - Freitas. 2:05 Popo caught Barrios one second after the bell. It was just a knockdown but Barrios was out. Nothing happened, fight continued.
And if he was unable to continue, it's a TD on an accidental foul and goes to the cards. Depending on how late the hit was, it could be a DQ or a point deduction.
I think it depends if the bell had rang and PAC stopped moving forward and marquez clipped him I think a NC or DQ would be warranted... But the fact PAC was still coming forward with his own punch and marquez was in the process of countering I would rule a ko even if it was a little late.
If it was a situation like Guerrero vs Berto and that happened in the 6th round and Guerrero was still winging off on A defenseless Berto and he happened to get ko'ed ... DQ ALL THE WAY
Great question. I can appreciate a thread like this instead of the million Pac threads that have been created lately.
I say it's still a KO victory for Marquez.
This actually happened a few months ago with Mercito Gesta against Ty Barnett and they ruled it a KO.
Pac would still be out cold, and JMM would probably have to be disqualified.
Maybe, but that seems harsh. You couldn't let the fight go on, a no contest sounds fairer.
Why would JMM be DQ'd? Assuming the punch landed relatively soon after the bell rang. Shouldn't they just go to the cards since its round 6?
If it's a non call it would still be a ko victory for marquez even if it was after the bell. The only alternatives are disqualification and no contest. Only way it goes to the cards is a cut caused by a headbutt.

If its 2 sec. After the bell more than likely it would be a no contest. Unless Marquez had been warned before . But it all depends of the noise level and if the punch was started on or before the bell

very interesting question. i wonder if it would depend on how long after the bell the punch was landed. for example, what if the punch was landed 0.2 seconds after the bell? what if it was landed 2 seconds after the bell? i assume if it was landed 2 seconds after the bell then it would be a DQ, but if it was landed 0.2 seconds after the bell, i find it hard to imagine a DQ happening.
