Golden boy is not going to allow this fight-let GGG vacate middleweight and safely keep Canelo ALWAYS a weight class below.
if your in the golden boy war room I'm sure this is the strategy.
Roach got a standing ovation at the press conference this past week for being re tarded....where the hell was Floyd Sr and Roger's standing o?
We honor white tards but not black ones? That's bs.
dumbo, the only 2 ppl in ur thread are pac fans.
floyd fans aren't in here because most don't know who tito is. LOL
I think the *****s are deeply offended by this! Of course they know who Tito Ortiz is....I think the *****s are pondering someing different in this thread which is....Why would An Ortiz v. PAC fight even be discussed.
Awesome pic Ice-I was at the Double Tree in Carson, CA after the 3rd Marquez/Vasquez bout and Chad sat down with me and my brother for a couple hours and did nothing but talk boxing and a drunk Scap doesnt pull punches... we talked about the perception of his shaky chin and how buzzed was he against Ademek etc.
He even offered ring side seats to his fight with Glenn Johnson but my wife was due with our second and I was unable to take him up on it...I told him that I thought the boxing world really had something when he dismantled Ian Gardner who is an awkward dude...I asked him when did he beat Ian and he wasnt sure and I gave him the exact date which was November 18th...I told him I knew that date because my wife was in labor actually pushing our first child out when there was a lul between contractions and I called one of my friends to find out how Dawson looked on showbox against Garnder...he thought that was pretty cool. (my wife wasnt all that pleased)
All and all he was a tremendous person...Im not just saying that because I sat down and talked with him...had he of been Zab Judah I would have called him such.
Chad Dawson has a fan for life in me!
The "casual" fan conversation that I get and hate the most usually goes something like this...
Ya know I used to be into boxing back in the day, I never missed a fight but with Tyson bitin peoples ears and Don King basically fixing the sport I just lost all my interest. (casual fan)
Then you tell them that Tyson has been dead in boxing for 15 years and that Don King is no longer a real player in the pomotional world and you get silence...you then ask them if they have seen Cotto or Magarito or Vasquez or Marquez or Floyd or Pac or Joe or Angulo or Kirkland or Donaire or Six Heads Lewis and they shake there head...
A casual fight fan knows two things...Tyson and King and their opinions of the sport present day get based off of those two dinosaurs.

He is my favorite boxer. He is 37-2-1
He went over to the Philippines to beat Z Gorres and bring the belt back to Mexico. He demolished Martin Castillo who was another great champion
I watched Montiel fight Jose Carita Lopez many years ago and after the fight I swore I would never root for FM...ever.
Lopez was jobbed in that fight knocking Montiel down at least 4 times with clean body punching only to have Montiel complain everytime that he was hit low...everytime he bitched when he was hit to the body.
(I was literally screaming at Mark Ratner throughout the fight)
Further on in his career he fought like a bitch against Mark Johnson but...but since that fight with Too Sharp he began to mix it up with his opponenets and I have actually enjoyed watching the little craftsman fight.
Im still not to the point where I root for him but Fernando Monitel has come a long way!
Nope casamayor is still that type of fighter that would give Diaz problems, and he hasnt proved himself like CAsamayor did. HE did well against JMM, and beat Castillo and Corrales.
Could you stop being Puerto Rican for 1 minute?
I was rooting for your boy Cotto but tell me IWATCH how bad did that hurt to see the TJ Tornado rip him apart?
I hope this fight is made before either of them is done. It would be a waste not to set this up, titles or no titles.
Had Arum and Shaw of pulled thier heads out of their asses this fight could have been made prior to both of their stunning losses.
It would have been a Million Dollar Flyweight fight ala Carbajal v. Gonzales...this fight is still a great fight but as you say above lets not waste time getting this one inked...we already have had a bit of the luster taken from the fight...lets not fuck it up even more.
I think Arce is in trouble but either could go at any time...my guess is not a long drawn out brawl rather someone getting iced inside of 5.
Vic has to get by Mijares as well which will be awfully tough.
Your right most of the fight negotiations came together too fast and in the end all of this bullshit that the real fight public is stomaching right now is more or less part of the promotion.
Arum hates Oscar, Floyd and Schaefer and Im sure he feels it is his right to gain some sort of upper hand with regards to negotiations (Floyd feels the same way). On the other hand Floyd believes genuinely in his mind that he is the man and that some of the concessions he believes he has already made like 50-50 and the 10 mil per pound are sufficient and it is his turn to make Manny/Arum bend. (Note-I dont believe the 50-50 or the 10 mil were REAL concession but Floyd does therefore it is what it is.)
Also remember that GBP has a serious bone to pic with Pac who not too long ago they thought was a fighter in their stable only to have that melt away in court. Pac then retired the biggest cash cow in the sport in his brutal beating of Oscar-Im sure GBP loved that!)
In the end the causal sport fan who RARELY pays attention to boxing but loves sports is watching and listening to all of this and thinks the fight may not ever come off (We are all cult fans here and we can all talk about the random sports guys talking to us about the fight in the past 2 weeks). Ultimately the publicity will do the fight good and the numbers will reach that crazy 3 million PPV buys figure in part because of the pub that all this drug talk has generated.
Like the the thread starter said-it all came together too easy-many of us are tired of the bullshit regardless of whos side you are on...one thing is for sure however the dollar figure for the fight is going up by the day and if this fight does 3 million PPV buys instead of 2.5 I think you have the drug negotiations to thank...ya think?
cotto was badly hurt in the first then he rattled zab`s nuts, zab was pretty rusty too, hopefully he gets the belt against clottey and then they fight sometime,
Cotto was not BADLY hurt in the first round he was stunned there is a big big difference young man. Badly hurt was Cotto against Corley. Cotto actually took the early Judah onslought very very well.
Badly hurt...jesus christ.
Ive dressed up three times as a fighter and it has been a huge hit every time...
Back in 1994 I went out as Reggie Johnson-it was incredible how many people knew who I was...
I tried it again n 1999 as Augie Sanchez and I got a lot of shit for that.
Just recently in 2006 I tried a turn back the clock theme when I went out as Danile Zaragoza...this was easily my best costume of the three and quite possibly my best costume of all time.
I highly encourage trying the boxer as a halloween costume!
That's BS. People said the same about Leonard fighting Hagler. Stranger comebacks than the one I sketched out has definetely occurred.
Leonard negotiated a 10 round fight...it doesnt get much stranger then that...unless floyd tried to negotiate an 8 rounder.
Would love to come to Seattle. I will let u know :) There are fans who saw this unfolding and many others who did not.... the guys I was with, other than Clay-Bey, all thought it was a wash for Cotto even going into the 8th because of all the flashy punches he was landing. They didnt recognize the pressure and certainly didnt recognize the body shots he was sneaking in. If they did, they didnt realize the affects shots like that have.
There is more then a few of us that would want to bs with you and....yeah probably go over the Nunn fight. Im sure you would oblige.
Scap, real quick because I have to head out..I will post more later but boxing in that ring IS deep to me...the insights (as i see them) are deep....if you know what you are looking for and at it IS deep.....thats what I love about the game.... maybe you watch and see one thing and I see another... I look at a painting and see sqiggly lines while someone else sees really deep beauty...its all in the eye of the beholder. As for the betting.... where I was at bets were made in the second round on Cotto....guys took the bets..one guy took the bet based solely on what I told him after the first, that being that Cotto is winning the battles but Margo will eventually win the war.
Im no former fighter like yurself but I to watch this sport in a "deep" way. Do I have the knowledge and the eye that you have...absolutely not but in this match I do not think it took and Iceman Scully or a Manny Steward to tell me or some of my more educated boxing friends that this fight was not going good.
You mention the second round....your dead on although I thought Cotto won the second myself along with many of my more educated boxing friends-the key in the second was the amount (the real cult fans) of punishment cotto was taking so early, it was not supposed to be this brutal this early.
I guess my point is is that there are fights where my untrained eye misses something and a fight turns when I never saw it coming...I think good hard nosed boxing fans that werent balls to the wall for either guy could see this outcome coming...yes as early as the second and many educated fans in Seattle at my house on Saturday night said as much.
If your ever in Seattle let me know-I pack a pretty nice well rounded fight crowd and your always welcome!
I love and respect the iceman as much as anyone but John the money that was spent on cotto was spent before the fight...many who had money on him had a real bad fealling after the 6th or 7th that there man was in trouble...
Money was not won adn lost during the fight (sure you had a few fight pools) it was lost before the fight...I had over 70 people at my home in Seattle for the fight and many had money on both men...point is the money was bet before the fight and it was not something anyone could take back after Cotto's demeanor clearly change at the halfway point.
your a stud Ice but sometimes you get a little to deep...my wife has told me similar stories of her former boyfriends.
Very difficult fight for Floyd...Zoo was not the raw brawler that some like to remember him as....he was a very smart fighter who could fight on the inside and the outside and when you fought KT on the outside he always won...his two loses were two fighters who just outworked and outmuscled him...on the inside.
Nobody beat him fighting from a distance...that right hand usually got placed at some point and that was the difference-ask Zab Judah (who was supposed to box circles around Zoo).
Tough and very uncomfortable fight for Floyd-could go either way.
A couple closet classics that come to mind that I love are...
Castillo vs. Lazcano-Hidden on the undercard of an Oscar PPV was this gem in which Castillo basically ruined Juan Lazcano who was favored btw to win...both men killed each other Castillo just proved to be less human.
KZOO vs. Oktay Urkal-Showtime was setting up Zoo vs. Judah with a double header-Zab got Alan Vester to thrash on and they gave Zoo a ****ing beast in Urkal...lucky for Zab the opponents werent reversed that night...grueling match in witch both men I believe broke their jaws. Urkal fought his ass off in this one and gave KT all he could handle.
Angulo will absolutely brutalize Mayorga...very surpised at seeing so many think Mayorga will win.
If Mayorga does not train his ass off and he walks into the fight like he did the Vargas fight he gets blown away in 3 rounds(or less)...if not Angulo takes him apart every minute of every round and stops him in 7-8.
Easy fight to pick.
F uckin A Kahn has a weird way of doing anything and everything to not fight brook.
Kahn believes brutal ko losses to canelo and Crawford are far better then getting pounded by brook I guess.
That said Crawford will bite down at some point and stop one of the worst chins in boxing.
BArry and Eddie were sitting back proud as could ****in be-what a night they probably told themselves a few times ...then u could see it on Eddies face as he realized that he invested everything in Frank Bruno.
Hes a legend.........
Im anxious for his next fight.
If someone put a gun to your head and asked what Floyd's next fight would be assuming the Pac fight had fallen through you honestly think he is choosing Sergio Martinez?
Lets see....
Tavoris Cloud-is still very green and young but I think the guy is going to wipe the floor with Glenn Johnson which hasnt been done in a long while even Dawson's remtach with the aging stud was tough as hell...to me TC seems like a bigger stronger faster younger version of the Road Warrior and we all know GJ gave Bad Chad hell...I expect to have a serious Lt. Heavyweight showdown after Dawson KO's Pascal and Cloud punishes Johnson-Im drooling!
Fernando Montiel-this guy used to bother me and I was convinced he was a pussy but the last few years or so post his loss vs. Johnny Gonzalez Montiel has turned into a beast at Bantamweight and although I love Donaire I view their potential matchup as even ****in money!
Michael Katsidis-the so called next generation of Arturo Gatti right? Maybe wrong....take a look at the lightweight division and Katsidis maybe the best damn fighter in the division...sure JMM is sitting there but he is long in the tooth and that tooth gets even longer in a few weeks...I think Katsidis has rebounded well after the late round shocker vs. Casamayor (which he qwas winning) and has put himself in position to be a true champion at 130 pounds...calling him Gatti may be selling the rugged brawler short!
Josh Clottey-this is a unique pick and one I could get some heat for BUT...Clottey pre PAC was a beast at Welterweight and still may very well be..his only two losses were to Margarito and Cotto and in BOTH cases you can make the argument that he won the fight...more importantly in both fights it appeared that Joshua Clottey....was the classier more skilled fighter...at least to me. He then fights PAC meeting MP is his absolute physical prime and he cant compete...so he is written off...truth is this guy will still beat most welterweights and I would pick him against Berto and would say Clottey vs. Mosley is even money.
