Sure there will be a que of top level fighters wanting to fight a cheat. Guys finished, one thing being crazy and biting an ear, another actively packing plaster in the pads
we get a top rank feed over ere in the UK as part of a monthly subscription of about $19 this gives us most big US fights, the major German ones and some UK fights. Then if we want regular Friday Night Fights (domestic) like you have on ESPN or Showtime over there its another $35.00 a month on top of your basic cable\sat sub, but this also gives us all Premiership Football and lots more top sports, so we really do quite well boxing wise for the cash. We get a few PPV's, but only if its Hatton or Khan, 2 a year max i would say at around $25.00 (in HD)
i have been rewatching all hattons fights for the lead upto this and crucially post and pre fight interviews, he has that hunger back in his eyes like he did in the days of trying to get a world title shot, hes gonna win, anyhow, anyway, but it will be a classic!
even when he gets his license back his days of big pay cheques will be over, no half decent fighter is going to fight a cheat unless he gets a ridiculous large cut of the money, Margarito showed just how good he was without his magic plastic against Mosley.......
Warren is a businessman, he is making it as hard as possible for Joe to get his money back, Sports Network is who Joe took to the high court, the administrators will decide how much money Calzaghe will eventually receive.
Frank has been promoting under the ‘Frank Warren Promotions' banner for some months now to be honest for anyone who has paid attention.
Hatton has already had plastic surgery because of cuts (check out the blood bath of Jon Thaxton fight) reason why its important is because he's fighting a southpaw, which makes cutting much more likely early on in the fight, fight may not be stopped because of it, but if your fighting with a deep cut from early rounds it will make things much much harder, and not like hes in with a nobody either.
my heart said Froch, but head said Taylor, so didn't place a bet, not bothered, we witnessed a classic fight, and shall be betting on Froch who ever he fights next, you might Knock him down, but he'll do everything he can to make sure he comes back and knocks his opponent, he way he finished Taylor with poise & pure calmness showed why he is world class, Kessler next then super fight with that ducking Welshman in Cardiff in front of 80K fans!
to be honest he does look a little larger than he usually gets, but he his ageing least we forget. But lets face it, its a strain on the body being over weight for an average person, let along a prize fighter who then has to loose it all, build muscle and then actually take punishment, he should know better by now, but course he will fight again, Hatton Promotions with out Hatton fighting is going now where, he ain't no Oscar, even Oscar started to promote his own events before he actually retired to establish his bills.
come on, this guy is a fat excuse of the US's only hope at Heavyweight! Guys a disgrace and Vitali would stop him in later rounds just from pure boxing let alone knockout
to be honest, he did'nt look up for this fight from the get go. He tried everything and nothing was working, its just a case of a fighter going as far as he can, Bradley/Judah were just a step above his class and seems it is takeing its tole.
I just finished watching it now as i'm in UK n downloaded it, personally think witter should stick to British\Euro class now before retiring, domestically he will be an excellent test for up & coming fighters. I menioned on anotehr thread i would'nt have minded him seeing fight hatton, but not after last nights fight, Hatton would kill him fighting in close.
PPV, seems he got a good deal contract wise, them Klits have been dodging Valuev for years, took David matter of days to finalise the contract with him. How anyone can say Haye is'nt after the best in the division is beyone me, Klits wanted ridiculous clauses, Haye is free to fight in the UK soon as he has title and lets see Wlad over here at the o2!
Enzo is turning very bitter these days, does he have any fighters left in stable these days? I heard Calzage promotions is not exactly 'big time' either from sounds of it
we all know Hattons lifestyle put to much pressure on his body when fighting the best in the world and it showed.
Although Floyd Sr didn't help by saying he can eat anything he likes and still not put on a pound! Ricky is not the same.
I honestly think he will come back, Lee Beard + a senior trainer of respect could help him, he needs this time off but if he's back on the beer soon as better he's finished at top level IMO. I think Freddy Roach could teach him, but Hattons ego & lifestyle he wants to live won't allow it. Problem is now if he does fight it will purely be for money
How is it not going to p*ss off US Networks? Its the biggest fight of the year without doubt, Vitali has a huge following in the US and they could have sold the PPV easily, now seems it will be a freebie, what network did you get Haye vs Monte on over there? Haye works with Goldenboy Productions who oversee Hayemaker Productions, and Setanta (who works with Hayemaker as co British Promotor Network wise) have a strong link with Top Rank
problem is you Yanks over hype your fighters to much when there coming up, you might think were doing the same Haye, but he cleared up the CW division in stlye, trains hard and eats right, so we kinda have a right to ;-)
i don't get this? The US HW's don'nt really have a divison, because there ain't one with a welt worth anything, all the champs and real contenders are in Europe, even if Haye wins, which US heavyweight would be worth fighting? None that would sell US PPV, next few superfights in HW division will be in Europe by the looks of things so the US betta start takeing note who these guys are and hope they get some quality HW's in the next few years
I don't get the shock here. All the Klit fights are prime time in their location and showed on tape delay in prime time in the US. If it is HBO, they show it live in the afternoon too.
your missing the point, nobody is going to pay PPV money to watch a fight on at 4pm in the US and certainly not a tape delayed recording of it! US networks will pick the fight up, but could have made much more selling the fight on PPV which because of the timeing they can't do. Its a pretty good stance for the UK as they will be getting big money from Setanta and PPV in Germany and world wide rights and seems they don't really need the US TV money which has not been the case in recent times and shafting us to stay upto 3am to see a fight live in our own country!
Nobody in the US know who Vitali is? Did you miss the massive amount of US fans that he had agaist Lewis 2003? Download and rewatch it from WBVA or somewhere. Given the fact that this is for a world title, with a very popular Heavyweight Champ, the fact the Haye is sparring with Lewis (who also works for HBO) i can pretty much gurantee there will be a lot of interest in this fight states side, hey you can always hope than Evander pulls through, got money that that will be a PPV freakshow over there too and it will sell ;-)
Big Mac, you gotta feel for this fella, but anyone who was thinking of buying a PPV on the strength of seeing him fight needs theres heads looking at, he's an average fighter in a division of nobody's, well now David has left, who showed him exactly how a cruiser-weight should punch!
Still Warren will try and sell you the PPV, glass jaw Khan is 'fighting' as well!
Ca-ching!
Seriously though, please UK peeps don't line Warrens pockets, selling a very average friday night fight night card for 15 quid on the stregth of the Oscar fight, watch Froch on ITV then download the rest from WBA or tc boxing half hour after fight
IMO its good thing.
PPV rose in the early 90's and started to peak at the end of the 90's and early 00's where they kept increasing the amount they charged for a fights that weren't really worth PPV status, why? Because people had the money, or could get access to the money to pay it.
Now people are being more strict with what they spend and how much they spend. I really hope the next Oscar fight fails to get big numbers, its two major names fighting yes, but in completely different weight class's. Duno how much there charging in the states, but i ain't gonna be paying #15 to watch it!
PPV now will hopefully go back the mega fights which warranted the expense as it was an 'event' not just one fight. Boxers still need to get paid, so will be back fighting on domestic TV for pay days, and will be fighting to earnt that PPV status and a big pay day that the PPV channels can sell to us, so hopefully will be doing more to impress, taking more risks and ultimately more entertaining boxing
would have preffered Wladimir, will be hard to knock Vitali out, but Hayes speed is going to be great advantage, he was looking a good size in german youtube video as well!
Does anyone not just think Mayweather is resting his hands till a promoter comes up with a mega mega rich fight offer? I think his mind set is there is'nt really anyone worth fighting (risk takeing wise) that he needs to fight unless its super bucks. I think It might be Manny in 2010 if he beats Hatton, nobody else really, he won't fight Hatton again
