In a show of unconditional support, Tijuana’s Mayor Jorge Ramos extended an invitation to former world champion Antonio Margarito to fight in his native city at anytime. The public invitation came shortly after the California Athletic Commission revoked Margarito’s boxing license. After a lengthy hearing in which no evidence was presented to demonstrate that Margarito incurred in any wrongdoing, the Commission revoked his license to fight in California for one year. Upon hearing of the news and to show his support, Tijuana Mayor Jorge Ramos said, “We welcome Antonio Margarito with open arms, and want him to know that when he is ready to fight again we want him to come to his hometown. He has been an exemplary athlete and has for many years represented the city of Tijuana with great pride and honor so it is a natural for us to continue to support him in his career that should not be blemished by a Commission that was not presented with evidence of any wrongdoing by our native son,” added Mayor Ramos.
boxer train to box, not to make sure their hands are wrapped correctly, that's their trainer's job. as a boxer, you trust your trainer to follow the rules. you dont want to constantly look over your trainer's shoulder to make sure he's doing his job... thats just too much distration and messes with the boxer mentally.
if AM uses that kind argument..it will be a lame one,
like what was said at CSAC -“When you’re the leader of the team, of the people you oversee, you must bear some responsibility.…

- And even if Margarito somehow didn’t know, he should have. An athlete has the responsibility of overseeing his body and what goes in it and on it – even if he relies on a trainer to look out for him. http://www.ringtv.com/blog/327/margarito_capetillo_the_punishments_are_justified/
on the espn interview he said it was all about wrapping disagreement and capetillo told him they're good.. now at CSAC he (capetillo) said it was and accident?
how can we now be so sure AM is oblivious of the matter?
consider as well the length they have as professionals in the sport - knowledge of the rules and regulation?
winning before with "fair and square" argument will always be shrouded with doubt in the public opinion. why do you think he gave that interview? on ESPN ? because public opinion matters, its part and parcel of being famous...their team knows this.
Integrity and professionalism is a must to be maintained in this line of work.

Good he can dodge bullets while he is dodging punches.....
Maybe him and Jose Luis Castillo can fight. Margarito can come in the bricks in his gloves, and Castillo can come in 20 lbs over the agreed weight limit.
Sure there will be a que of top level fighters wanting to fight a cheat. Guys finished, one thing being crazy and biting an ear, another actively packing plaster in the pads
I wouldn't be suprised. If people believe Margarito has always had an illegal edge, they might want a crack at a big name that might not be as good as we thought without that edge. Where once he was thought to be invincible, now he seems like an easy target. If promoters are smart, they'll let this blow over and put their top guys in line for a Toni fight. People have been crucifying him, but ever mother ****er here that has access will watch his next fight. If anyone doesn't, it will just be so that they can crawl onto the message board and say "I didn't watch it... I'm altruistic... I have standards... Look at me"
everyone is quick 2 ****ing judge this guy....has any1 not thought about the fact tht margarito may have not even known about the pads plus if he is so much of a cheat why only a year ban ?
He did know...people are giving Margarito the "WOE IS ME" treatment. He didn't happen to see the wet substance being put in his hands or watching it fall out as the wraps were being undone? LOL..people can't really be THAT naive.
Also keep in mind they REVOKED their licenses...meaning they'd have to present their case to the commission to be reinstated in a year and they can flat out just say "NOPE". If it were a simple ban he'd be able to come back in a year, no questions asked.
But realistically, his days of getting big fights (which was technically only 2 times) are done. Nobody is going to want to associate themselves with a guy who's gotten this much bad press.
