As a ref you should be aware of the time remaining in the round, especially a Championship bout. Either Gonzales delivers a falcon punch from the opposite corner, or the round ends and Mares gets 1 min recoup time. No brainer, fight stopped early.
Would like to give congrats to Kiko, but. I have seen world class fighters take rounds off at a time. No 4 loss fighter should have that kind of energy. Even after the stoppage, kiko was jumping around like he did, and barely sucking wind. Piss test him. he is on something.

Setting the record straight
1. The replays shows a punch graze him and his foot got stuck in the ropes and his glove hit the canvas. Ref apologized.
2.As soon as his glove hit the canvas he was back on his feet and came back with 3 piece then the ref stepped in.
3.Prior to this fight he only went to 6th round once in a decision, Drilzane (this weeks opponent)only landed good shots from 7th round on,plus Drilzane has fought at Welterweight and Amir is a natural lightweight. before that he was simply outclassing the guy.
4.Ive downloaded the Mayweather Career and seen some of his earlier fights, at this point of his career he had some mediocre showings when he could not stop the guy, although against much better opposition.
Not sugggesting he's anything like mayweather, but not exactly Bojado, Clearence Vinson, or Ricky Williams.

I am going down to my parents house to watch the fight. They have a small TV, but I like watching the fights with them because they are pretty knowledgable and they get into the fights. Plus we usually get together for Cinco De Mayo and the fight adds another element to the day.

I have to agree with the first post.
it was on boxing after dark card where I saw a mini-doc on Harold Lederman
they said that he takes off the HPs so he is not influenced by the commentators.
Yet, I caught many and I mean many instances, where, when he is givin us the scorecard in the begining a round, he gives response to what the broadcast team said in the previous round. that means that either its BS that he takes the HeadPhones off or he is sitting within lestening distance.
Basically (and I have checked) he responds to comments in the previous rnds (and not just the beginning) when he should have had the Headphones off.
