According to former champion Amir Khan, he was ready and available to fight Manny Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight title in the fall. Speaking to Mancunian Matters, Khan says his team reached out to Pacquiao's handlers but never heard anything back. Pacquiao is scheduled to face WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri on November 22nd in Macau, China.

Khan and Pacquiao were once stablemates and trained together at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California. Khan eventually broke away from trainer Freddie Roach and hired Virgil Hunter. Their past relationship and numerous sparring sessions would have made for a great pay-per-view storyline.

“I said I wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao,” Khan said.  “I offered him the fight to Pacquiao’s team recently and they didn't take it. I got my team to speak to [Top Rank CEO] Bob Arum and we got nothing back, and they went with Algieri. Well, he's not a nobody. You’ve got to respect him but he's not a big name, and if Manny Pacquiao wanted to make big money in boxing he needs to fight big names.”
