Tyson fury is such a colossal twat. His best wins are a sloppy points victory over a 300 pound chisora and a come from behind, foul KO against a cruiserweight OAP with marshmallows for hands. The boy's been hurt and put down by multiple journey men and would've got destroyed by Haye and been relegated to fighting his cousins for peanuts in abandoned caravan parks. What. A. Cunt.
Really? Groves has better speed, accuracy, movement, defense and he's arguably as powerful as Carl but just in a different way i.e. more explosive than thudding and concussive. His combinations are far more fluid and his footwork is so much better than Froch's plodding, off-balance ballet spins it's ridiculous. Bottom line - it's a far more competitive fight than people think, now stop asking stupid rhetorical questions.
Groves is slippery as **** and will present ward with a live, constantly moving target unlike any of his last 4 opponents. Add to that his explosive power and Andre "Jesus reincarnate" Ward will have a serious fight on his hands.
Only problem would be Groves' stamina. Boi needs to get on the hill sprints, don't know about now but before his morning run consisted of jogging slowly round a rugby pitch for half an hour. That **** ain't gonna fly at championship level.
and if rios had khans speed he'd probably be a p4p multi-division champ.
and if I was 7ft with the power foreman and the chin of a wooly mammoth I could box the klitschkos.
man I love hypothetical wish fulfillment
Froch literally walked into it, Ward would have dropped him if he landed that. While that may be the case due to Froch's lack of balance at the time, did you see his facial expression as he fell down? The man was literally unconscious before he hit the floor, it takes some serious power to turn any of the top ten's lights out like that let alone Carl Froch. You can't deny Groves has hugely explosive power and like the thread starter I honestly can't think of another fighter at SMW who hits like that.
Jim Watt is possibly the biggest band wagon rider of all mo-fracking time. As soon as one of the fighters does anything vaguely impressive or unexpected good ol' Jimmy pronounces him as the coming of Muhammad Robinson Marciano the third and proceeds to dry hump the guy harder than a Chihuahua on speed. The man is just plain awful at commentating.
Uuuurm why is froch getting so much irrational hate? I backed and supported groves coming into this bout, I'm ecstatic with the way he fought and disappointed with the stoppage but it sure as **** isn't carl's fault. Nobody knows how this fight would've gone. Three and a half rounds is a long time and the cobra could've stopped him anyway. The man's 36 and has just been in an absolute war give him time to rest and time to think and then we'll see if he wants the rematch. We as spectators don't deserve **** and people who act like they're owed something need to go do one.
Its clear Froch underestimated Groves. His foray into Dancing on Ice and ballooned ego after Kessler II meant he cut corners. He thought he could walk through Groves; however, as we saw, it was more competitive than most imagined.
**** off with those excuses for froch cos he sure as **** isn't making them. It was an epic war between two fighters at the top of their respective games and coming off the best training of each of their careers, but don't take my word for it as the cobra himself says pretty much the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yda5Gj6g8Kg
Two weight world champion with a huge fan base, who despite ,as everybody and their mothers have pointed out, has fists made of marshmallow has been extremely successful and provided the fans with dozens of memorable nights.
You know what yeah, I reckon he just about squeezes in.
Not quite as evenly matched as the stateside Top Rank vs GB cold war. Hearn is dominating the domestic scene while who does Warren have? Billy Joe Saunders and Chisora? And I wouldn't put it past either of them to jump ship sooner or later.
I, like every British boxing fan, want to see BoxNation do well, but it just constantly shoots itself in the foot - be it the clunky, archaic format to the crappy website as well as the endless filler fight repeats the way it's being managed is seriously bad. While I get it's all about the boxing everything around it's so piss poor it makes it annoying to watch and turns off potential subscribers.
Hmmm I love Floyd and watching him do his thing as much as the next guy but "fan pleasing style"? Sarcasm, not so thinly veiled?
But anyway my favorite current fighter's gotta be Carl Frampton, there's just something magnetic about that little Irish T-rex inside and outside the ring… no homo Bromo
Met Eddie Hearn's pressman, Anthony Pressman (no jokes, real 2nd name LOLCAKES), just after Khan and Kell had it off (steady now) on ringside.
Apparently straight after the cameras got turned off Khan was shaking Kell's hand, being a really cool, nice non-hysterical dude while Kell sat there like the confused lisping spanner he is.
Make of that what you will but I've got a feeling it's primarily a persona, that admittedly goes too far much of the time, that he puts on for the cameras.
Only an issue of race if you make it one, a notion repeated a lot on this thread.
I dislike Stevenson as a person because he's a loud mouth, twitter troll who worked in underage sex slavery and is clearly still a total knob and I want to see him get beat for those reasons.
I like Kovalev cause he seems like a cool, humble dude who does the majority of his talking (forgive the cliche) in the ring - but I can appreciate that they're both great fighters and I just want to see the fight made.
End of.
I have absolutely no desire to see Ortiz fight ever again
Completely agree. Him verses pretty much any high level welter at this point is just animal cruelty.
Comon now, first of all put "II" in the title, second of all, it isn't even thread worthy, even Chisoras most ardent fans known Fury will wipe the ring with him.
Fury by early stoppage.
nah man fury isn't gonna stop chisora. If del boy comes in motivated he'll either take fury out early or sweep the first half of the fight. After that if Fury's still standing he'll take the second half leading to a close, controversial split decision/draw and setting up the third fight. i.e. Warren's wet dream scenario
Really depends on how hard you're going in both. I've done a lot of running but never marathon length distances and have only sparred 12 straight rounds, relatively lightly, once.
I find sparring absolutely exhausting for all the reasons listed above i.e. difficulty to regulate breathing, constant movement with the majority of the body's muscles and, of course, the ever present danger of getting hit in the face so in terms of overall physical exertion I'd probably place a hard twelve round fight over a marathon.
Really it's an apples and oranges comparison and the only way to find out is to give both a try yourself.
Where's Darnell "The 0 Destroyer" Bonne? He just did it again, getting a draw against some undefeated prospect- What. A. Guy.

As do I. People talk about his opposition but it's been better than Groves' bar the Froch fight which was handed to Groves because he signed with Hearn
How has his opposition been better? His best win to date is over Paul Smith who Groves obliterated. Since then all he's done is TKO a few pretty obscure, low level fighters and go the distance with a some more EURO level ones.
Groves is known as a non puncher and still put Froch down in the first. Laporte was never down to my knowledge, and fought legends way past his best years
Groves definitely wasn't thought of as a non-puncher going into the fight. He's got big, explosive power and if he'd landed that shot in that same way on anyone else in the division they wouldn't of got up.
