Both irritate, for those who dont know...
Jim Watt - is a miserable old man who manages to sound depressing even in the most exciting fights.
Roy Jones - No matter what comment is made about a boxer or match he always disagree's and goes on to state the opposite.
i actually like roy commentating only when theres no black fighter's involved. when there is roy seem to always ride with the brotha first (dont blame him). but besides that roy does a good job commentating because roy actually knows what the fighter is thinking because he's been in those situation.
I grew up listening to Jim Watt commentating on some of the big fights with the much-loved Reg Gutteridge; when they were on ITV and went all over the place and gave us some great nights. So I do have a soft spot for the guy and he's a decent former world champ as well.
But the key thing was that Gutteridge was very much the boss and he used to run those shows and Watt's job was to analyse technique, style and offer his opinions at the end of a round. That allowed him to focus his thoughts and on some very specific areas.
Gutteridge was old-school but he was a proper commentator and skilled boxing journalist and he kept Jim on-hand to do the technical stuff and not try and call the fight as it happened.
Sky allows Jim to jump him all-over the place and that's a mistake because he gets carried away and tends to try and call a fight blw-by-blow. Let the commentator call the action, then let the expert gather his thoughts and review the round.
LOL HE SAID EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE OF THESE DURING THE FROCH FIGHT LMAOOO
but i remember him on mosley mayweather... 'ohhh the crisees mayweather is going thru now, he lost the round hes just trying to make it to the bell..''
whys he so bad tho, just wondering
jim watt will do whatever it takes to minimize fighter b if he happens to like fighter a or he'll dog on both the entire fight. he's a miserable old fool with an annoyingly intrusive voice.

i have NOTHING to do with england or sky sports...
just wondering WHY do you guys go off on jim watt so much?
i watch his broadcasts every other fight because the torrents i download for archiving purposes are sometimes taken from sky sports
and sometimes i prefer the england boys over the hbo's commentary
BANG ON THE CHIN! is that why you guys hate him? can you guys let us know?
It's only Americans who find Jim Watt 'boring' probably because they have been brought up on such rubbish as wwf wrestling where everything needs to be dramatic and over the top...
Jim Watt is one of the 'voices' of British boxing and has been for years..
I would hate to think what you guys would think of Test Match Special....the wonderful cricket commentary that has become the 'sound of British Summer'..
P.s as a boxing legend...I would be inclined to listen to Roy Jones any time of the day...if he is commentating.
I'm Scottish, and I can't stand Jim Watt as a commentator!
Jim Watt. I've had enough of him.
Watt for me. When he has a favourite his bias in ridiculous.
It's like he is purposely on a wind up.
Jim Watt.
He's been terrible pretty much since he started and somehow manages to get worse.
Watt is horrible to listen to.
Jim Watt = Nails on a blackboard.
Watt is awful, but it's not really a direct comparison. Watt is usally part of a two man team whereas Jones is part of a three or 4 man team at HBO.
If Jones was asked to talk almost non stop negatively about the fighters, then he'd be Jim Watt.
But I don't really get Sky's system. Their team is too big, Nelson and McCrorry seem to be at every gig, yet the studio is still packed with other guests. It's like if Match of the day had on all of their pundits in the studio every week. I think they need to get someone else alongside Watt to keep his negativity in check or actually give him a role rather than just giving his opinions a free airing 24/7.
Watt is definitely more awful. RJJ can be biase towards black fighters that he likes E.G when Provo was nailing Bradley and he kept saying he cannot hurt Timmy anymore then Blam... Bradley would be on Queer Street again.
Your countrymen seem to agree with the Americans doe...

No joke, every time I stream a fight overseas and have to listen to Jim Watt I'm left wondering if the guy is actually watching the fight. Definitely an example of a commentating team I tune out and don't listen to.
Out of all the boxers that commentate I actually think roy jones is the best, Tarver was pretty good to, he was funny.
Tarver's really good. Bernstein and Paulie are the best crew, though the blow by blow guy sucks. Gus Johnson may be crazy and loud, but he knows how to call a sporting event. Sucks they replaced him with someone so bad.
Jim Watt is possibly the biggest band wagon rider of all mo-fracking time. As soon as one of the fighters does anything vaguely impressive or unexpected good ol' Jimmy pronounces him as the coming of Muhammad Robinson Marciano the third and proceeds to dry hump the guy harder than a Chihuahua on speed. The man is just plain awful at commentating.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

thats a good point... he was saying Prov was just as hurt as bradley at one point, which I wholly disagreed with. But he did a great job on saturday.
lol, brilliant. "fancy dan" is a particular favourite of mine. try doing a shot every time he says it during the next mayweather fight.
Is most famous one is the "He wants out of there" quote lol..
