Yeah no one knows Thurman or Porter..they are names to real boxing fans but not to the casual fan. UFC is huge, Boxing became to corrupt with all the alphabet organizations and rip off PPV prices. Me personally cant wait to see this fight happen, they are both at there peak..its going to be a great fight. I like Porter in this one.
Stay at 160..and clean out the division..no need to move up unless he has problems making weight. Unless there is a large amount of $$$ to go up and fight Ward then its not worth it.
I dont think he is comfortable at 154. I think he would really struggle to make 154 and be consistent with it. He needs to step up and just campaign at 160.
GGG wins, Brook is solid, was strong at 147, but he has never faced anyone with GGG's power. GGG is established at 160, Im not counting Brook out, but the odds are not in his favor.
DSG is tough and always finds a way to win, but BUD, is special. BUD would be to much for DSG, but DSG will hang in there man..it would be a great fight.
- Cottos footwork is far superior to Canelos. Difference between Canelo and Margaritto is like comparing apples to oranges. Margaritto doesnt care if you hit him 4-5 times as long as he can keep coming forward pressuring you and making you fight backwards. Margaritto was decent at cutting the ring off. Canelo is more of a boxer/puncher who like to stand and trade and mix it up, Margaritto is more of predator who comes forward with pressure and likes to get inside and smother you. Margaritto's pressure helps him take control of the fight, where Canelo kind of like lets the fight come to him. So Margaritto has more ring generalship, he knows how to make it his kind of fight, Canelo doesnt really have that ability, or he hasnt showed it yet.
lol at the idea of TC KOnig danny. danny catches him and the fight is over, this guy was being rocked by tiny gamboa, danny is pretty big and he fits welterweight very well.
- Gamboa's hands are fast, and he throws in combination. TC, recovered well and picked Gamboa apart. I like DSG and I think he is a very good fighter, but TC is something special.
Crawford takes it, I seriously think he is the next big thing in boxing, I dont see any weakness in his game, He can switch up in the ring, he has good power, can box, is patient, controls distance..total package.
I see this fight going either way, I am going for Cotto, and I still give him the edge, but this is my un biased outcome for either guy
Canelo
- I can see Canelo straight rocking Cotto with a uppercut in the middle rounds, Cotto is totally rocked and tries to hold on for dear life. Cotto recovers but is not the same, Canelo finishes him off around round 7-8 - Canelo wins by TKO middle rounds
Cotto
- I can see him disrupting Canelo with his jab the entire fight, and probably drop Canelo in the early rounds alot of body work from Cotto. But Canelo recovers and just gets outboxed he cant figure out how to get past Cottos heavy jab. - Cotto by UD
I see Cotto winning a UD, Once Canelo sees that he is getting outboxed, he might become content with not getting knocked out and just do enough to ride it out. Similar to what he did againt PBF. I see Canelo hitting the canvas but recovering and hanging in until the end.
So explain how Berto was the better choice.
Berto was who he chose to fight, better as in what? He had just fought the fight of the century..as they called it. He beat Pac, dont get me wrong Im not a Floyd fan boy, I just call it how i see it. He has the right to fight who ever he wants. And that goes for any boxer who is willing to step into the ring.
Cotto has his power back, he has that snap on his punches, Everyone keeps pointing to his opposition, but even he didn't have serious power he wouldn't of rocked his opponents like he did. Also he is fighting more efficiently under Roach, using more angles. Canelo needs to be set to throw, Canelo has a great right hand that can trouble Cotto if he can get in position to throw it over Cottos jab. But in order to get in position you need good foot work. If Canelo wants to win this fight, he needs to be concentrating on improving his foot work more than any other aspect in his game. Sure Canelo has faster hands..but that don't mean much when you have excellent timing and positioning.
- Two ways Canelo wins, if he goes beast mode like Margarito and is willing to eat shots for at least 5-6 rounds and make Cotto back pedal. Or he improves on his footwork and is able to outbox Cotto.
I have seen what Sergio was able to do in his prime, againts Paul Williams and Pavlik. But I have yet to see GGG againts someone even close to that quality of an opponenet. So as it stands..I would pic Sergio to win.
I would like to see him fight Crawford, but I dont know if he has enough in the tank to beat him. Or even Broner I think that would be great to watch, and a much easier opponent than Crawford.
I voted NO.
- Vargas called out Tito after he beat Quartey.
- Tito responded its one thing calling out the devil and its another thing seeing him come
- Vargas was never the same fighter, he left it all in the ring that night. They should of stopped it in the 1st round, and Vargas would of been able to continue his carreer. The fight turned out to be a classic but it took way to much out of Vargas.
- Now for the ignorant people on this forum calling Tito a cheater and comapring him to Margarritto..please be aware that if the Tito/Hopkins fight would of taken place anywhere other than NYC, there would never be any mention of his wraps. He did not have anything illegal inside his wraps like Margarrito, it was just the way his hands were being wrapped, it was againts NYS athlectic commision rules. It was all tape/gauze..no plaster.
- If he were to beat Khan..so what?..it dont mean anything. He has fought guys way above Khans level. Khan has fast hands, OK foot work..and guess what a weak chin, and he has not changed anything in his fighting style. Floyd would body him, and anyone with a good chin and power would do the same. Maidana had him in extremely bad shape, and Garcia just bodied him. Khan is getting desperate not to long ago he was calling out Cotto..Imagine that..Cotto would break this kid.
Hard to say I have not seen GGG againts a quality opponent yet. But as from what I have seen a prime Winky would win a UD over GGG. Winky had a good chin and his defense/blocking punches was frustating.
Although not exactly in his prime (he was 36 or 37), Martinez and Golovkin share the same opponent in Martin Murray.
Murray knocked Martinez down, but lost a semi-controversial UD, with judges scoring the fight 115-112.
Although it took 11 rounds, Murray lost by TKO vs Golovkin. However what is more telling is that even without the TKO, Murray did not win a SINGLE round against Gennady.
I think that's the part that many people miss about Golovkin - he's barely lost a round ever since he turned pro. Given his olympic & amateur background, he's not an easy guy to outbox. And given that he hasn't even hit the canvas once, it's fair to say that he's not easy to KO either.
Based on those factors, I give Golovkin the edge, even against prime Martinez.
- Sergio was a late bloomer, early in his carreer he lost to Margaritto and lost a decision to Cintron. He peaked around the time he KO'ed Williams. But age eventually caught up with him, as you can see in the Murray fight. Sergio picked up boxing later in life. But using Murray as a measuring stick is not a good analogy. GGG still hasnt fought anyone good, thats my point so its hard to see how good he really is.
Roach/Pac would make Canelo come down, like they did to Cotto. So the advantage wont be so pronounced. It would be intereseting. I would still say Canelo, if the weight drain doesnt affect him, He is aggresive and throws in combination.
So he wasnt a better choice. Is that what you're saying? He chose berto because he earned the right to choose whomever? Ok so what If he chose Khan instead of Berto and why criticize Khan as a fighter and not Berto?
- Ok the title of the topic is "Why the hell would Floyd be scared of Khan? "
So what about Berto?, Berto is legit, he is a decent fighter who has heart. Is he as good as Khan? I dont know, maybe they should fight and see. I dont know what your trying to get at, maybe you should start a seperate thread....
Kovalev, and I am just going by the fact that Ward has been so inactive for so long. If Ward was more active then I might lean towards Ward a little more but at the end of the day Kovalev is bigger and is a complete fighter. I dont see how Ward would be able to win.
Zab's head was still in it, but his legs werent. The fight was stopped just in time as it should have. Zab blew it..he had that fight and got reckless.
