Boxing is seriously in the toilet amongst casual fans, I work with about 100 other guys and all I hear talked about is fking UFC 200 or whatever the fk it is in July...not one guy has said a word about the fight Saturday night... If it's not Mayweather or Pacquaio people just don't know or care about it. I don't blame HBO- showtime-PBC for cutting budgets and bad ratings, boxing is just a dead sport and I don't see how anything short of a Tyson type character coming along will change it...
PBC will probably be gone when the money dries up, HBO can't afford to pay for big fights now so everything is going to PPV, showtime lost half its viewers from 2 years ago...Why can't the sport gain any traction with the younger audience? Is it only close to 40 guys like me and older that Keep boxing alive? And of course Mexicans lol...
Speak for yourself buddy! Everyone here in Mexico is jumping up and down every day talking about the fight. Me and our tribe in Guadalajara are happy we get a real fight from real men unlike saul who we have disowned!
Ok but Mexico is a boxing country the USA is not
Did Bradley or Alexander lose badly before facing each other?
I mean like Porter lost to Brook?
Other than that i agree, there wasn't much Hype back then as well and back then they were probably the best fighters at the weight.
Well, there was a segment of boxing fans that believed Alexander lost to Kotelnik.
C'mon Larry, people are excited cause we finally get a fight that will start separating these dudes at welterweight and clearing up the picture. For some reason I have a feeling this may be it for the year though in the division. I don't consider Brook vs Vargas as big cause I don't rate Vargas high at all, he beat a freaking prospect to get that WBO belt.
But anyway we need to start getting some clarity as to who is gonna be the man at 147. This fight will start moving us toward that direction.
I agree..i guess i was being a D1ck..lol
These are the types of match-ups that lead to fighters becoming part of the "elite". It's comparable to Bradley/Alexander, two guys who are good and the winner will start being perceived as a potentially great fighter.
I agree with that

Lets just be honest, this is a fight between 2 b class fighters who will never be elite...sure it may be excited but lets stop acting like this is some super fight that demands so much hype..These are the fighters boxers are suppose to take

The corruption in boxing killed it. The refs letting people clinch. The best avoiding the best. You should not be able to make millions if you're not fighting the best man in your division.
Then how would GGG get paid?
lol..................

I think Thurman can walk Shawn into something. I can also see Shawn out-working and grinding the heck outta Thurman, but the problem I have with Shawn is that he smothers his own work. I don't have a dog in the race though, just hoping for a good fight. We need these guys to start fighting each other and separating themselves in the welterweight division
Going to a fight party and grilling some kangaroo steaks. If you haven't had kangaroo you gotta try it man
That was a hard left hook that Broner dropped Porter with but I was surprised he had the power to drop him at all. Thurman's power is a tad overrated but I would think he has a little more power than Broner.
But if Thurman isn't able to find that shot or break Porter down, he is really going to struggle to outbox him. And I want to see how he reacts to the pressure. I like this fight because it's going to reveal what these guys really have inside and I think Porter can ask those questions.
Why aren't you excited for Thurman-Porter?
As a boxing fan I'm very excited for this fight.
I am personally, I meant there's just no buzz in general...its just sad that nobody follows boxing anymore.. I can't wait to watch it!
Not for long.
By the time those guys are GGG's age they'd be able to buy 10 of those goofy looking mofos.
Possibly but we are talking about right now not 10 years from now.

Well Ward would be living off his paychecks vs. Kessler, Froch, and Dawson. Canelo would be living off his paychecks vs. Mayweather and Lara.
Golovkin would be living off... well Golovkin would be dead broke. :lol1: :lol1:
Bro GGG has a bigger net worth than both put together. How I have no fawking idea

Good post.
I never had a kangaroo steak. I wouldn't even know where to buy one ha
I'm doing the usual get together with lots of beer and some sort of food
Let's hope for an exciting card and especially main event
This has nothing to do with anything and you know it. There have rarely ever been many white boxers around, yet a large number of white folk still are big fans of boxing, including myself. Come off it.
But that was a time when UFC was not in the picture
Now because of the UFC young fans who should be becoming boxing fans are becoming UFC fans instead, come on just look at the typical UFC fan. They predominately young, white americans.
I bet the amount of boxing fans from eastern europe or former soviet countries have increased also, they support their own.
White americans are more likely to support fighters in the UFC because theyre supporting their own countrymen. Its normal.
Not saying race is everything because there are so many other variables such as the promotion of sports, the fights theyre willing to make, sport personalities, entertainment etc but it is a significant factor
