pretty sure liam smith is undefeated while canelo has one loss. its actually liam smith cherry picking canelo just because he has a big name but can he box at all? the answer is unfortunately no
Nelo's legacy at the 155 division speaks for itself:
Angulo - undefeated at 155, #2 in the division
Lara - undefeated at 155, #2 in the division
Kirkland - undefeated at 155, #2 in the division
Cotto - #1 at 155, undefeated in the division
Khan - undefeated at 155, #2 in the division
Every single fight he has made at 155, he has fought someone undefeated in that division and who was ATLEAST #2 ranked in the world.
Nelo has been #1 ranked at 155 for 2+ years now and only dropped briefly when Cotto entered the division until Nelo promptly schooled him.
Hes 5-0 and handed the first losses to all of these former champions in his fights with them. That is VERY impressive.
I dont think he is comfortable at 154. I think he would really struggle to make 154 and be consistent with it. He needs to step up and just campaign at 160.
Why not the charlos? why not andrade? nothing against Smith, just asking...
He needs tune ups at 154 now? :grumpy:
high risk/ low reward
IMO andrade whoops his ass.....why fight someone similar to lara but someone who can fight inside, can be aggressive with the same mobility, same speed, better power
Julian williams would do well against canelo
Canelo is between a rock and a hard place
they are trying to avoid those inevitable L's he is gonna be taking from here on when he faces the top middleweights and jr middleweights
why would a guy at 155 be chasing Manny Pacquaio? he just fought Khan....they are babying this guy
What makes any of them the best at 154??? didnt he already fight Lara?
And the only reason for agreeing to fight Lara is because Lara is also short in height, compared to Jermell, Jermall, Andrade, Williams etc
I think the tallest opponent on Canelos record is Austin Trout...
Canelo is everything that is wrong with boxing atm
And to add insult to injury theyve talked aobut fighting Manny who is a small 147 pounder, probably a natural 135pounder, and Tim Bradley who is also a short welterweight, and Smith is also a short 154lb, its a disgrace, i dont think that its Canelos fault tbh, the problem is this lying snake promoter Oscar De La Hoya

If you look thru Canelos opponents, he hasnt fought anyone above 6'0 which in itself is very alarming, Canelo has been fighting smaller guys his entire career, and his record is as padded as u can get, while still being relevant, cant wait for Andrade, Julian Williams etc calling Canelo out, then hes got more people that he got to duck, but then again "Mexicans dont **** around"
Ha today max said Can'tNelo won't duck anyone but gb is afraid their cash cow will get knocked out so its more gb doing the ducking
The damage is already done from what he said post fight khan.
There are Mexican Warriors and there are Business Men. It's safe to say anyone with Fishnets is a Business man and this is also why JCC is still loved and DLH hated amongst Mexicanos
Canelo should be ashamed of himself for his blatant stupidity of listening to Fishnets

the whole reason he invented a weightcclass is so his team can pick and choose with no obligations
Canelo probably doesn't even bat .500 against Andrade, Lara , Charlo's , J-Roc with fair scoring , why compete there when fans would want to see him fight the best in the div knowing the hype gets killed if he attempted it
At 160 the only gaurenteed beat down is at the hands of Gennady, wth Jacobs, Saunders , Eubanks all could make things interesting.
Much better for his team to stay in their own fantasy division and drag down a MW with a name that they can beat or pick and choose the guys at 154 that give them a good chance of winning.
Well we wouldn't have that problem if either Can'tNelo or Cotto would have stepped up would we but both blatantly ducked him
Canelo should be ashamed of himself for his blatant stupidity of listening to Fishnets
nothing wrong with fighting a bum every now and then, but when your resume is full of it, then...
canelo has some cherrypicks too, but you can have that luxury after facing some challenges, something ggg has yet to do... at 25yo canelos resume ****s all over gggs at 34yo...

He cant make 154 anymore so he moved up one division to the 155 division where he always fights the best.
People complain about Khan but he was the second best fighter in the 155 division when Canelo fought him.
And before that, he beat Cotto who was #1 in the 155 division when they fought. He can probably make 154 without undue strain. He has weighed in at 154.5 for a couple of his 155 pound weight limit fights. Eight to 16 ounces is really a very small amount of additional weight to lose. I doubt losing another pound would have a negative effect on his performance. He will still weigh about 170 on fight night. Don't get me wrong. I strongly disagree with any middleweight champion making the weight limit for a title defense even an ounce less than 160 pounds. That goes for former champs Cotto and Canelo.
He got a win vs the best 154 pounder at 155, what a shame he couldn't make 154. Oh, now that you mention Mayweather and Lara, why didn't Floyd fight his WBA mandatory? :bottle:
It was a non title fight...if Lara would of had a belt it would of been at "54"
