Because Fury was not that good. His claim to fame is that he beat Deontay Wilder thrice. Wilder ffs. Fury was a crappy champion in a crappy era as was Wlad before him. It's pretty much crap since Lewis retired.
The GOAT! Pacquiao or Floyd or Crawford?
They definitely are ATGs (All Time Greats) all 3, but G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time)? Makes me suspect that English is not your first language. You lack an understanding of what the words mean.
So is this pile of shyte indicative of the "12 +" PPVs that will be included if I succumb to the grift and give up 500 bucks for next year? This fight would have been on HBO B.A.D not that long ago. Vote with your currency, folks...
Pitbulls are p4p the strongest dog in existence , the breed holds the world weight pull records out performing Alaskan Malamutes and other sled pulling breeds at their own game while being out weighed 3 to 1 .
Ive seen 40lb pittys bring down scub bulls and water buffalo that weigh 1000lb .
The breed has fought and beaten Japanese Tosa,s many times in japan and Asia , Tosa's out weigh them by a 70lbs ,, think Pavlik beating Tyson thats what you have here .
Domestic animal vs wild animal has been fought ever since time began and man owned a dog , ever heard of bull baiting , lion baiting etc etc .
Ricky you say some of the most ignorant of things on the board and not just about boxing , I was the first to import American bred PitBulls into Australia 25 yrs ago , I have seen a lot with this breed over the years from weight pulls to dog fights to catching wild boar and they are truly remarkable dogs much maligned and a lot of miss information out there , I will quote something said to me by famous American breeder 94yr old Pete Sparks many years ago ,,,
" A pitbull can do anything any other breed can do and then kick his ass "
I used to have a Blue Chow (chou? sp?) that always intimidated my other two dogs which were Rottweilers. They were yard dogs. We'd let em' out when we closed up shop. Saw my buddy's Blue Chow shaved one time. Looked alot like a pit to me...was the meanest dog I ever knew. Are they related to Pits by any chance and how would they stack up against a Pit?
blackirish, hower u man? we r just discussing boxing here... no hate, no foul words ok?
nate defeated a young unified champion last year... the young kid, maybe due to his inexperience in dealing with adversity ( a laceration over the right eye) that resulted in a a clash of heads, was outfought by nate enabling the florida native to win by decision.
other than that man, what made him awesome? he lost to casamayor, to peden twice, hlatshwayo and of all people, francisco lorenzo... this is the lorenzo whom humbero soto bludgeoned last june man... the other notable victory for him was over kid diamond who was TKOed by a prospect just last week...
despite of these, i am hoping for his victory over funeka this valentine's...
Nate is awesome because he's funny, cool as hell, doesn't duck anybody, fights his ass off and rarely (if ever) is in a boring fight.
Casamayor's victory over Campbell was almost as much of a gift as his victory over Santa Cruz and (imo) he's been avoiding giving Campbell a rematch ever since. Why do you think he fought Marquez (who was making his debut in the weightclass) instead of a fighter (Nate) he'd already beat and who was holding the other 3 belts in his division?
Imo the "Galaxxy Warrior" has been a fighter that fights to the level of his opposition. Hopefully he's matured in that facet of his game and will come with his "A" game for Funeka because I think he's gonna' need it. I think he has and he will and I'd be willing to bet some points on Campell in this one.
If/when he gets by Funeka, Campbell/Marquez would be a great fight . I kinda' think Marquez will outbox Nate to a close UD but am by no means certain. Marquez will have to be wary of Nate's power and stamina. The sweet thing is that regardless of the outcome, one of my favorite boxers will be unified, undisputed, lightweight champion!!
As to Campbell's periodic rants regarding the state of the game , I enjoy and mostly find myself in agreement with them.
Wpink on target as per usual.
You're nut hugging a post that is nearly a decade old.
So what is the point, btw?
After dissing all of prime RJJr's wins, then what?
Is this some kind of round-a-bout way of smoking Calzaghe pole?
Or Kessler?
Is that it? You are making the case that prime Kessler > prime RJJr? Or maybe it can be bent around to Kessler > Andre Ward?
I don't get it...
lol. talk about taylor made, Valero is the perfect fighter for Guzman because he gets reckless and swings wildly. Guzman would put on a masterful clinic and should win every round.
Even if your analysis of the two fighter's respective attributes is accurate (and for the sake of this thread, I won't argue it), Guzman is gonna' gas after a few rounds of Valero's pressure and then get KTFO. Like that.
Yeah I agree. JMM in better shape versus Tim but older.
My first reaction is Tim, but after considering the age factor and the ease of Floyd's victory, you may be right...
Jmm takes a tune up fight. Gets a decent win. Looks imprssive. And for the money....JMM vs Pac 5 will happen.
Bradley/ Pac who cares. There is no score to settle. Manny clearly won.
The hypocrisy in this statement approaches legendary. Epic. Grandiose. All encompassing. Sublime in its ambition and scale. It is a hypocritical singularity imploded and now splooging it's hypocritical matter in an ever expanding sphere within the time/space continuum, giving birth to a brand new universe of hypocrisy.
I stand humbled and in awe.
The mark of a true champ, wanting to avenge a close loss.
You same guys'd be calling him a coward if he wasn't chasing the rematch.
I detect lingering butthurt from KTFO6...
Hi boxing fans,
We hear many boxers thanking God, but as a fan of a sport which can often be brutal, I wondered what your stance on Religion is? Are you deeply devout? Agnostic? Athiest?
As a huge admirer of Stanley Kubrick, I would like to share his stance with you all and welcome any thoughts, criticisms, agreement...etc and so forth...
A smart guy and great filmmaker, but that line of reasoning does not in any way prove non existence nor existence of a supreme deity.
On alleged topic: I agree with the opinion that a devout fighter might have an easier time focusing in his preparations for a bout.
But I don't believe that this is the topic you actually have in mind.
I accuse you of proselytizing atheism. Otherwise, why quote Kubrick? Why not just ask the question?
I think that if some dude came in with a long winded come-to-Jesus quote from a well respected (even worshipped) filmmaker and then posed the same question, he'd be run right the fck out of here.
So, in the same spirit, GTFO w/that ish!
For the record, I believe in God, but have little use for religion.
I dunno' if they're "ready" or "deserving" or if Froch "needs them", but my two picks would be Chavez Jr. and Golovkin.
Of course Froch should be able to beat them both, but I think they would both be hellacious good brawls.
With Jr. they could probably promote it well enough to make it quite an event. :boxing:
1) I never thought Pac was the favorite in this matchup.
2) Yes, what little historic significance this fight might have left would probably only occur in the unlikely event of a legit Pac win.
Having said that, if Manny looks well recovered and sharp in beating Brandon to a pulp, I'd buy a Floyd/Pac ppv. I think a good Manny makes an interesting and maybe exciting puzzle for PBF to solve.
Me, too. I would love to have seen Yoan Pablo Hernandez go to the U.S., but he seems to be doing very well for himself in Germany. America still has to be considered the best place to make big money in boxing, but it's not the only place. I'm glad most of the bigger Cuban names have made it over to U.S. shores.
Yup. Hopefully they will help to keep the US boxing DNA vital in an ever more competitive global scene.
Is Robert going to train him over the phone? Because I don't think Jr will have enough spare time to drive from Oxnard to an East LA barbeque and hit the bong with his girl..??
Hahaha. You know what? Shoot me. I like him.
Big, dopey-lookin', twelve-sandwich-eatin', beer-drinkin', dope-smokin' fresa. But with nuts, this kid.
The way he followed a really good, borderline-great fighter around, Sergio Martinez and just getting his ass totally kicked the whole time for 11 rounds and going to his corner looking beat up and discouraged, but coming out for the next round of ass-kick and still following, chasing, maybe without finesse but doggedly, wretched and bleeding and then FINALLY GETTING A PIECE OF THAT SMARMY FVCKER AND BEATING HIM FVCKING DOWN!!!
Yeah, only for a minute. Yeah, he couldn't close the deal and ended up chasing again and losing a lopsided decision. But he never gave up. Even though his daddy's rich and he wanted to.
And there's more. His tormentor needed surgery after and didn't fight for a long time and then didn't look the same when he did...
So you go and let that good trainer make you. Go and learn some discipline. Some humility.
Some spoiled rich kids stay spoiled and worthless their whole lives. Permanent Juniors. With talent, even.
Some grow up and become men and baddass.
War Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
About 50 years ago, before Kubrick, (who may have got the idea from him because Asimov gave advice to Roddenberry re Startrek) Isaac Asimov wrote something similar in a long editorial for a science magazine which I still have somewhere, principally because of that editorial, (the concepts that Kubrick mentions are almost identical to Asimov's). He was discussing the possibility of UFO's which many readers had been writing to him about.
He took a round figure of the present (the 1960s) as being the possible life bearing planets in the universe, and he said that there would be even a far greater number which were as yet undiscovered. He then took this figure which I seem to recall was around 20,000 and estimated that at least 70 would have intelligent life forms which would be far superior to present humankind. He said that they would be so far away that if they spent the time to get here, they would not be wasting it buzzing around a planet like earth with a much lower intelligence than their own, which was only in the Atomic Age. He could not believe that they would be wasting their time appearing to individual farmers on lonely roads at 4 a.m. or any of the others who have sworn that they've seen them-always when there are no other witnesses around.
He could not believe that if they didn't want to be seen, that they would doubtless long since have discovered invisibility.
I believe that he ended it by saying that he'd calculated it mathematically, and didn't think that anyone else had as yet come up with a better.
Asimov was one of the great literary intelligences of our times. I've only roughly repeated his essay, and I could be a little wrong here and there. He must have written several hundreds of books and maybe thousands of short stories, and umpteen other things. I recall that he was reported to have written over 100,000 private letters to readers and others. His entry on the internet would take at least an hour to read, maybe longer to understand.
I believe that -in those bad old days -he was rejected at his first college..........
Hell yeah! Let's make this into a sci-fi thread.
I'm a fan of Asimov's Foundation series. It's been awhile, but I've read em' a couple of times.
What do you think of H. Beam Piper? The Federation books are great and there are a few new authors taking the Space Viking portion in different directions.
