Chico will stop him & viciously. Diaz is good but is downfall is he likes to mix it up. If he does that with Chico it's over because all it takes is one punch. But if Diaz does beat him it won't be easy by no means & will have to go through hell to beat him judging by how he fights. Sim is a solid fighter but he doesn't punch like Chico & neither does Cotto.
true chico does hit harder than sim or cotto
and i see diaz 's vulnerability to a left hook when he's coming up from the body to the top
however as i have said chico can get put off of his rythm with movement, it makes him uncomfortable
this is where diaz needs to listen to ronnie shields and continually turn corrales, hit and move out then repeat
look back on corrales fights when he fihgts peopel that can move a bit or are at least crafty at it
you will see corrakes get uncomfortable, step off, and reset
I would like to see this fight. I think Juan Diaz has good hand speed but people question his power. If JD fights Chico like Castillo did then I can see Chico by KO.If he fights smart then I see a UD for JD.
chico's power could prove to much for diaz, but don't forget diaz takes alot on the gloves and his attack isn't always straight forward
diaz will do better if he moves, utilizes hand speed, and keeps turning corrales. chico usually needs to be set to punch. when you get him off of his rythm he stands straight up backs up a step or two, seems to roll his head side to side as if cracking his neck, and then resets.
diaz can capitalize on this if he turns chico then attacks.
as previously mentioned chico's power is heavy and diaz has been dropped before. diaz squares his shoulders up and a phonebook fight could be a bit much for him considering chico's power is more than anything he has ever faced. however, diaz's chin has seemingly gotten better. he walked right thru sim's best shots and took a few from cotto.
also diaz may be suceptible to to chico's left hook when he doubles up left hooks to the body then comes back up top for a left to the head.
diaz's handspeed is far superior to that of corrales which could neutralize some of chico's power in close if juan stays busy as most expect him to do. that handspeed and non-stop attack could prove to much for chico who has been thru many wars.
if diaz wins its by ud
if chico wins its a ko
imo i think chico possibly puts diaz on the canvas early. hopefully diaz will recover because i think he takes this by decision. he'll confuse chico, set traps, turn him, and have him resetting constantly.
I agree with you on that. I remember Freitas was bouncing around like the Energizer Bunny taking Chico out of his rhythm till he got tired; with a little help from some of the body work Chico put in. I would love to see this fight happen though.
exactly freitas was doin great till he slowed down
the pbf fight was a mental massacre for chico
can diaz do it? maybe his movement is diff though
sheilds has trained him to turn his opponents dig to the body and move

yeah me too
hey ive been a diaz fight for some time but i am not gonna sit and see he's gonna winfor sure
if he starts trading to much with corrales i think he's gonna hit the canvas
and if corrales did hurt him i think it could be early when diaz first gets hit
your absolutely correct diaz has never been hit by someone like corrales
any fihgts these guys are in are gonna be hot
gatti by d
i think he hurts bald and possibly drops him
but bald is tough and finishes the fight
gatti off to an early lead
then he stops boxing so much and is more willing to tangle and trade with bald
bald will come on in rounds 7-10
but gatti finishes the show
gatti by d baby
what are your thoughts on this guy?
After his brutal loss to Margarito he seems to be going in the right direction again. I rewatched the Estrada fight last night and he took some clean shots in that and came back strong to win by TKO in the 10th. I think the problem in the Margarito fight was when he got hurt he didnt know what to do. Either from the jitters from fighting on prime time PPV or just panicking against an opponent the calibre of Margarito. I think he has the potential. He is still green in alot of areas but he's still only 27. He has the power for sure at Welter to compete. Does he have the composure?
composure- no he seems unsure of himself
however his biggest prob is his posture
look how easy david estrada was able to tag him. sure cintron's power took over and he won but he would have been on his ass vs someone stronger than estrada.
cintron is a huge welter and a huge target. he fights standing straight up with his chin out begging to be broken.
next time he steps up, it will. he'll get flustered and lose his composure. soon thereafter, he'll be crying to the canvas.
oh my....you went through an entire novel justifying his ducking Margarito and then you say "I do not believe he is ducking Margarito"
FACT, he knows there is a possibility of losing to Margarito, but he does not want to take the risk
FACT, if he did not believe there was a possibility of losing he would take the fight and 8 mil in a heartbeat
FACT, he IS ducking Margarito, whether it be money or fear, the FACT remains the same, gayweather is ducking Margarito
those are factual claims, they are subjective and disputable
facts are identified by objective measures
even though i feel mayweather is ducking margarito, i think that the picture will become more clear early next year
hopefully marg will have fought a "name" as some suggest
ansd floyd will either fight him or move up in weight and duck
if toney comes in the shapre he was in for rahman then the probability increases
his stamina will be depressed , balance off, and he'll be in punch rollin mode mixed in wiht a coupl of straight and overhand rights per round
if peter actually sets his punches up, goes to the body and, doesn't overshoot the target as he usually does then i see toney in for a bad night
lets be real, toney is most likely not going to hurt peter
his best shot is too frustrate him
problem is he most likely won't be able to keep peter off of him with a jab; he's shorter and won't have any leverage
peter is younger, stronger, bigger, and can hurt toney and toney unlike the wlad fight will have leverage for those clubbing shots
toney can't roll his shouders on peter for 12 rounds
it's not as if peter is gonna be hesitant to throw big shots like rahman
toney's best assest is his in ring intellect combined with defensive wizardry for a plump guy
imo i think he made a mistake wiht this fight
......Peter will chase Toney all night while hitting anything he can. He will shove him around, bully him, and eventually catch him. Toney's age and Peters punch will catch up to him in the later rounds. I hope Peter KO's his ass so hard that he feels the pain for weeks.
agree, this is a scenario of far higher probability than othes suggesting toney will school or even ko peter
and even if he doesnt ko toney he'll win those rounds on aggression
Jesus Chavez has already fought Augustus, and won by KO, back when they were just starting out.
ok
that was a long time ago
let them fight again and it would be highly entertaining
You've explained why Toney will win a UD. He will frustrate Peter and he won't fight the same fight as Wlad. Wlad was aggressive against Peter and was therefore open to being countered which Peter did. Toney will lie against the ropes to conserve energy while dodging the big blows from Peter. Then he will potshot Peter when he sees his openings. And those openings should be numerous as Peter is not a great defensive fighter. I like Peter but he showed against Wlad that he is a one-dimensional fighter who can be beaten with good strategy. Toney is the ultimate strategist and has a solid chin. Toney by UD
no, no i didn't
i leave all possibilities open
nothing is absolute
toney probably can't roll off peter's punches for 12 rounds and his potshots won't phase peter anyhow
wlad could keep peter at bay and tired him late wiht his reciprocated strength
toney most likely can't
peter ud - on activity and youth alone
think about it the judges most likely will score peter rounds when toney is defending and rolling whether he lands clean or not
Yo, Im gonna be doing some interviews in the next couple of days and was wondering if anyone had any questions for David Tua, Israel Vasquez, Emmanuel Steward, or Freddie Roach? OK, I'll admit its also because I am short on questions, so can ya help a brotha out? :(
i know it may affect j taylors rythm but is steward working on moving his hands up a bit so he doesn't eat so many jabs?
is taylor going to move up to 168?
lacy, calzaghe, allen green on future opponent list
What we have here is a post teen and a teen talking shit about a bunch of fights they haven't seen, and telling a bunch of people who like to watch Augustus that they're crazy because you too see a whole bunch of red dots on his Boxrec page.
Nothing you can say is going to change the fact he's popular simply because people want to see him fight.
teen and post teen are polarizing, black and white, binary thinkers on this topic
not mayweather again but i'd like to see him fight guys like jesus chavez, julio diaz, juan urango, ricardo torres, mike arounotis, or oscar diaz
idk about an asswooping, but he might lose here and there.
Chico is probably tied with hatton as my favorite fighter, so what i say might be a little biased, but i think that chico could win quite a few fights at welter.
I think chico could take hatton the distance and possibly take a decision.
I think that chico is one of the few fighters who could knock baldomir out, even if they did fight at welterweight. Of coarse, he would need a warm up fight to get used to the weight, but i think he could do it.
But i do WANT corrales to stay at the 135-140 area, because thats where all the chico fights i wanna see are at. pacman, hatton, frietas, and a castillo fight could happen at 140 down the line(i still got hope...)
i like chico in the ring too man
but take out a tough welter who just walked thru gattis shots
i doubt it man
chico would be tryuing to glue his chin back together first
he's just not made for wlter 5 11' or not
i agree with diego fuego chico has too many big fihgts at 135 right now
freitas rematch, dia showdown, barn burner with chavez, and wrestlin match with raheem
are you kidding me ? Roy beat up a guy who stopped punching after the 1st round! any top level opposition would have streched Roy. Your always gonna look good fighting a nobody...any he couldnt even put him away!
i think it was both badi being only a top 15 guy(iknow he's rated higher) and jones actually being prepared and willing to fight
we'll just have to wait and see
Most underrated today would have to be Israel Vasquez, no doubt about it. Vasquez was thought to be the end of his career when he won the rubber match with Larios. He is the world champion now at 122, and is a clear fave over anyone at 122. The only fight he needs to break through with the public would be a HBO WCB fight with bantamweight kingpin Rafael Marquez. Its a pick em fight between two big punchers who have been succeptible to the knockout in their careers. Vasquez is clearly the most underappreciated and underrated fighter in the sport.
yep, so underrated and unseen that i didn't even think to put him in the thread
Yeah I was thinking he was going to lose due to DQ, since there was atleast 4 rounds left when the ref had gave the final warning that the fight would end if another lowblow struck.
the ref

Roy doesnt take those risks to try and knock out a guy. I admit Badi was trying to purposely get himself disqualified but had he kept punching like he did in the first it would have been closer. The referee was an idiot too, as soon as they got in close he broke them up, he wouldnt even let themselves punch there way out.
your right the ref was annoying
but badi wasn't punching when they got close
maybe one time the ref broke them up while punching
other than that
badi just laid on jones or low blowed him
i say castillo. not only has he fought the best, hes done so very very actively. in 16 months (from june '04 to oct. '05) he had 5 consecutive fights against the best competition in his division, defeating every one of his opponents in those 16 months.
good point saint
as scap previously said
one can make a pretty good argument for any of the fighters listed
