Well it's not me who wants this fight, it was Diaz talking about it. So I was saying that if he wants it then go for it. :)
Diaz winning? Oh yes I'm not saying it is impossible, it's just that Chico is already too experienced for a green horn title holder like Diaz in my opinion. Diaz cannot put pressure on Chico like Castillo did so as I said it's a tall order for him to win against Chico.
Yes Freitas would be a very good fight for Diaz.
Your right I think it is a tall order but if Diaz fights smart, I think he has a shot. It still remains to be seen if the wars with Castillo took to much out of him. Like amagnin said, I would like to see him take it slow and not be in too much of a rush. I would like to see him step up the level of opposition but not to fast. I love the fact that he is willing to step up and fight anyone. That is why people always loved Vargas, but I don't want to see the same thing happen to him. I think he has a bright future if handled correctly.
If you were Diaz's manager would you let him fight? Because I think it could have a Vargas-like outcome (not likely but possible). Don't you want to preserve a young prospect like this and save the dangerous fights for a little later.
yes i would. It's time to step up to the plate IMO. I think he's ready. He's pinpoint accurate with fluid combinations and he could give Corrales some difficulty. I dont think it would be Vargas like outcome at all. I'd give the advantage to Corrales obviously for power and experience but no reason in thinking Diaz cant win by a decision.
I agree with you on that. I remember Freitas was bouncing around like the Energizer Bunny taking Chico out of his rhythm till he got tired; with a little help from some of the body work Chico put in. I would love to see this fight happen though.
exactly freitas was doin great till he slowed down
the pbf fight was a mental massacre for chico
can diaz do it? maybe his movement is diff though
sheilds has trained him to turn his opponents dig to the body and move

yeah me too
hey ive been a diaz fight for some time but i am not gonna sit and see he's gonna winfor sure
if he starts trading to much with corrales i think he's gonna hit the canvas
and if corrales did hurt him i think it could be early when diaz first gets hit
your absolutely correct diaz has never been hit by someone like corrales
any fihgts these guys are in are gonna be hot
true chico does hit harder than sim or cotto
and i see diaz 's vulnerability to a left hook when he's coming up from the body to the top
however as i have said chico can get put off of his rythm with movement, it makes him uncomfortable
this is where diaz needs to listen to ronnie shields and continually turn corrales, hit and move out then repeat
look back on corrales fights when he fihgts peopel that can move a bit or are at least crafty at it
you will see corrakes get uncomfortable, step off, and reset

Chico will stop him & viciously. Diaz is good but is downfall is he likes to mix it up. If he does that with Chico it's over because all it takes is one punch. But if Diaz does beat him it won't be easy by no means & will have to go through hell to beat him judging by how he fights. Sim is a solid fighter but he doesn't punch like Chico & neither does Cotto.

If he wants Chico then by all means let him fight Chico. What could be better than 2 title holders settling the issue? :)
But it's going to be a tall order for him to beat Chico. Chico will punish him and get that victory EITHER by K.O. or decission.
Psychopath I agree I would love to see this fight, but amagnin makes a good point and I think Diaz could win this fight. Amagnin makes a good point though and I would hate to see what happened to Vargas happen to Diaz. I think he has a bright future. I know he doesn't have the power, but he has everything else and you don't necessarily have to have amazing power to win. PBF is a prime example of that and I am not comparing him to Floyd. Kassim Ouma is another example. I like the fact that he is hungry to take on the best but I don't want him to rush himself and ruin his potential. I would like however for him to step up the competition. Maybe Frietas would be a good match which I think he could definately win.

He is a very well rounded fighter and I love watching him. My reasoning behind the Freitas fight is that Diaz is really young even though he is a world champ. I can't help but think of a young champ named Fernando Vargas taking on a big punching champ by the name of Tito Trinidad. I'm not saying that Juan will get beat like that but the possibility is there. A devastating loss at this age could cripple what could be a long and fruitful career. If there is one thing Diaz really has on his side its time. So no rush to make any fight (even a great one with Chico).
Very good point amagnin. I actually have had the same thought cross my mind about a young Vargas and Diaz. That was the problem with Vargas he was amazing when he was young, but was pushed to hard to fast. I would hate to see that happen to Diaz because I really like him and think he jas a lot of potential. I would like to see the competition stepped up. Maybe Frietas would be a good matchup. Very good post amagnin. Also, it feels so good to noot talk about Floyd and Marg for a change.
It seems that people agree that both fighters can win.One by UD the other by KO!
Diaz could win by TKO... Floyd beat Chico by TKO w/o a lot of punching power. Also, Chico could win by UD if he hurts Diaz early and Diaz becomes fearful to engage. I just think that Diaz by UD or Chico by TKO/KO are more likely.
chico's power could prove to much for diaz, but don't forget diaz takes alot on the gloves and his attack isn't always straight forward
diaz will do better if he moves, utilizes hand speed, and keeps turning corrales. chico usually needs to be set to punch. when you get him off of his rythm he stands straight up backs up a step or two, seems to roll his head side to side as if cracking his neck, and then resets.
diaz can capitalize on this if he turns chico then attacks.
as previously mentioned chico's power is heavy and diaz has been dropped before. diaz squares his shoulders up and a phonebook fight could be a bit much for him considering chico's power is more than anything he has ever faced. however, diaz's chin has seemingly gotten better. he walked right thru sim's best shots and took a few from cotto.
also diaz may be suceptible to to chico's left hook when he doubles up left hooks to the body then comes back up top for a left to the head.
diaz's handspeed is far superior to that of corrales which could neutralize some of chico's power in close if juan stays busy as most expect him to do. that handspeed and non-stop attack could prove to much for chico who has been thru many wars.
if diaz wins its by ud
if chico wins its a ko
imo i think chico possibly puts diaz on the canvas early. hopefully diaz will recover because i think he takes this by decision. he'll confuse chico, set traps, turn him, and have him resetting constantly.

Good post. Good points. Maybe Frietas would be the better fight first, but I would love to see either fight. I think Diaz could beat Frietas, and I think if he fights smart he could beat Chico as well. I think he has a pretty good chin, but your right, he probabaly has never faced a guy with Chico's power. The only thing that Diaz seems to lack is the power, but he does everything else so well. I think he a a lot of potential to be very good and make an impression on boxing. Fans want to see him fight because he has a very exciting style and he is so young h still has time to improve. For as young as he is I think he is a prettyy well rounded fighter.

that is exactly my thinking. nice work.

Keystone30pack, dude I just had to use that pic of Diaz, that shit was tight. Hope you don't mind.
I think this would be a good fight that I think Diaz could win. Granted he doesn't have the power, but he has everything else, and I think he is the bigger stronger guy. Diego is taller and has good power, but I think Juan could wear him down with his combination punching and not to mention Diaz has a pretty good defense keeping his hands up at all times,he has a good stiff jab,and a very good body attack. He also seems to have a pretty good chin. He is also a very accurate puncher. The only thing he lacks is the power, but you don't have to be outstanding power to win. Mayweather is a prime example of that, and before everyone starts piling on I am not comparing Diaz to Mayweather, but I think he is a young and hungry and has a lot of potential to be very good. As long as he doesn't fall asleep and get caught, I think he has a good chance of winning this fight. I also think the wars with Corrales have taken a lot out of him.
Ehmmmmmmmm..
I'm going w/ Diaz by close decision...
If Diaz's defence is as good as it looks, then he has a chance
Corrales will fight Diaz's fight( Phone booth style), he did it for Castillo, so he'll defintely try to do it w/ Diaz..
I dunno...Diaz can't knock Corrales out..just not enough raw power...but he's very accurate, and solid as hell on the inside...
I'd love to see it.
