Boxing cannot be compared to other sports simply by its nature. games like snooker and darts have improved because of superior technology in the fabrication of the tools. no more hickory sticks as pool cues. or crude feather tailed darts. tennis equipment has also improved greatly and the players today are bigger and stronger than before based on improvement in training techniques. boxing has fundamentally remained the same. a left hook is a left hook. and bigger stronger faster does not apply to boxing, because at the end of the day, 147 lbs in 1950s is 147 lbs today.
floyds second fight with delahoya fell through. margarito and cotto ready to go against each other. winner only legitimate option for floyd. he chooses to retire.

15 rounds was reduced to 12 because more boxers died or had permanent damage beyond 12 rounds.
Upgrading 12 rounds to 4 minutes each would be like adding 12 minutes to the entire fight, therefore, bringing it back to an equivalent of a 16-round fight, with less rest time.
So I highly doubt that this game will revert to such worst status.that statement is absolutely false, and other than rhetoric there is nothing to substantiate that claim.
given the fact that 15 round fights only represented a small percentage of total fights per year, as the 15 round distance was reserved only for world title fights for the major titles, (wba, wbc, and ibf).
scroll down to table 6 in prder to see the deaths by round totals. the totals don even come close to supporting your statements.

Back in the day when there was a question as to who the better fighter was, it was answered in the ring by the fighters. today too often it is argued by fans on a message board.
when in the hell did juanma pay his dues to deserve paydays. or did i miss something.
you are the type of fan that buys into this b.s. i could give a damn about how much money a fighter makes, because i don't get a penny of it. what i want is to see the best take on the best. that is what we pay for. true champions are made in the ring, not by promotion
This one could be a little tough.
"I sparred with top boxers such as Azumah Nelson and Jorge Paez gaining a reputation as one of the top sparring partners of the time to emulate southpaws, I just gave them a sample of what I got though because I fought for a world title myself, losing a decision to a Baby Faced Assassin but I gave an honest effort." Who am I?
agapito sanchez
I was knocked out in my first attempt at a world title one weight class below where i later reigned for a record number of defenses. I was also known as one of the craftiest(dirtiest) fighters of my era. who am I
Schaefer is the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions and the person who runs the show over there. Oscar is the face of the company but he's mostly a figurehead rather than the guy who makes deals.
I don't think Mayweather has a specific contract with Golden Boy, but they've worked with him since the De La Hoya-Mayweather fight. Mayweather Promotions isn't really a promotional company. It's just a name Floyd gives his team of advisers.
with the type of money that is at stake here you bet your ass there is a signed contract in place between floyd and gbp.
floyd calling gatti a c level fighter is trash talk, and had no effect on gatti's earning potential.
baseless accusations of illegal steroid use is slander, and definitely can affect manny financially.
That still makes the whole poll a failure when you put Wilfredo Gomez as the #1 Bantamweight. If we using the original he should be a Featherweight. So this rankings sucks...i agree with you there. pac and gomez are misplaced. as they should be in the next division up not down from where they had their success.
love miguel cotto, hated camacho. that being said, camacho has a greater overall body of work than miguel. and beats him handily at 140 cotto not experienced enough when he fought there, a bit closer at 147, but still give camacho the nod. hector was a special talent a bit too flashy for my taste, but one hell of a boxer.
for those who don't realize or don't know the history of the sport, they are using the original 8 weight classes. fighters who had success in the later created jr. divisions are placed in the divisions that would have included them in the past.
and not surprisingly the most vocal have made no mention of floyd "i only fought 4times at 135" mayweather being listed at #3
it is because today boxing is attempting to be like wrestling by selling personalities and stories rather than fighters who actually pay dues. get the right promoter have a good story. make big money and exposure. to hell with actually making your bones in the game by actually fighting worthy oponents.
Orlando Cruz, undefeated prospect, got KTFO in his irst fight with GBPs
bernard hopkins lost his first fight with gbp, add panchito bojado, kingsley ikeke.
gbp is where young careers go to be destroyed.
So what? (for fans and the actual boxers??) isn't that a good thing that GDB don't give there fighters easy fights..?that would be grreat if it were true, the problem is they think the fighters are soft touches, and they end up getting bitten on the ass.
Referees and cornermen who will not do their job and stop a fight when it's clear one man has had more than enough.i lay it more at the feet of the corner they see their fighter daily, and should have a better grasp as to what condition he is in. too many times the corner is too brave for the fighters well being. .
Because he felt he was gonna die or get seriously hurt he has no heart?
You do realize that boxing is a sport and not a street fight. lets go by his own statements, he has no problems dishing out punishment, but he doesn't want to take any in return.
true champions fight through adversity, they dont quit. he was winning the fight, but not as easy as he felt he should have. you have to question his desire and his heart. until he proves different.
I see so because he felt his body was in danger beyond what was expected of a boxer to take he's a wimp?
No offense but 99.9% of people in this world would of quit the first time a fighter like Marcos Maidana hit them flush in the face. We forget that boxers are already a 100 times more courageous than any normal person simply because they are stepping in that ring.
Maybe you should think about that before you question someone mental toughness.
i will respectfully disagree with you on that statement. as since ortiz chose this profession, he is well aware of the inherent risks. so the other 99.9% of us out there do not even come into the equation. now my issue with ortiz is not so much the fact that he couldn't stand the heat, remember he made the statement prior to the fight that he was going to knock maidana out, but when faced with the prospect of being knocked out himself, he quit.
not only did he quit, he had the audacity to say afterwards, i am not SUPPOSED to get beaten up like that , as if he has some false sense of entitlement. that statement pissed me off more than his quitting. imo his attitude is what you get when you try to create stars, rather than have a fighter become a star. they are spoonfed, and have no idea of how to react when faced with adversity.
if he comes back and uses that experience to learn, more power to him, but no man should codone, much less make excuses for his actions that night. he must live with the consequences of his decision on that night. he needs to understand that every night will not be easy, and that champions are made on those nights when you are not at your best.
I think when you dumb it down that much you could convince any dumbass that he's a quitter.
It's more then that and in fact it's of my opinion that Boxing fan's like you are the reason that so many Boxers have died in modern boxing even though we have day before weigh ins and 8 OZ gloves.wrong person. i have been a fan of this sport for damn near 40 years. and the last thing i want to see is a fighter get seriously hurt. besides someon losing his life which is a tragedy in itself, it also hurts the sport. what i take issue with is ortiz's own words, he did not say he felt like he would die, he said i am not supposed to get beat up like that. i have the utmost respect for fighters because they have chosen a very hard profession. i have no respect for primadonnas who have done jack shit in this sport, and feel as if they are not to be hald to the same standards. ask yourself, if maidana had made that decision, and not ortiz, would he have been on a televised card his next fight out. this is the era of fabrication of stars, and we are seeing the results where fighters are not facing the toughest challenges, rather they are vacating titles in order to keep their "star power" while worthy challengers are left out in the cold because they do not have the right promoter.
as tothe point aboutweigh ins,i believethat they should go back to same day weigh ins to stop this ridiculous practice of boxers coming in 15-20 pounds heavier on fight night.
this is the same bullshit dibella pulled with jermaine taylor. when he defended the 160 title against 154 fighters. we saw what happened when he started to fight top fighters in his own division. i fully expect the same to happen to berto. once he actually fights a ww, the gravy train will be over.
