Isn't there a rule for them or something that you have to defend your title inside of 12 months or something???
So, Floyd is fighting for Cotto's WBA SWW title, and his WBC WW title won't be on the line obviously. Floyd will go to jail June 1st, and won't fight before September obviously.
Doesn't this mean he'll have to vacate??? Which means the Alexander-Maidana winner or someone like Selcuk Aydin would be in line to fight for the vacant title???
That is crazy if he is ranked at all at ww.
yeah, doesn't make sense, and correcting myself but Aydin is #1 @ WW and holds the WBC Silver Belt, making him mandatory #1 .. although he's taken step aside $$ several times, to let previous WBC belt holder Berto take other opponents
The sad part is if you go to the WBC website he actually is rated high
yep Alexander sits as #2 in the rankings behind only Aydin
The most likely scenario is they hold a fight for an interim champ to pick up extra sanctioning fees
well the WBC already has a Silver Champion @ WW in Aydin ... and Silver Champ replaced Interim titles in the WBC if I'm not mistaken
floyd seems to be above the law and best believe that prick suliaman at the wbc will find a way for floyd to keep it. too much money for the wbc to miss out on.
do u mean above the law in the court or above the law in boxing.... floyd is one of the few fighters these days to actually have fought elimantors, never fought a title fight at a catchweight and never fought for a vacant title.
In comparison to a lot of fighters out there I'd say his conduct re: gaining titles has been pretty good
maybe not so good defending them but after lightweight it became clear that floyd was all about taking the titles rather than keeping them
The WBC will not make him vacate as his next fight is more likely to be at 147 than 154.
1 sanctioning fee per year from Mayweather is better than 4 fees from any other fighter, that's the only thing that matters here.
The most likely scenario is they hold a fight for an interim champ to pick up extra sanctioning fees and then never force Mayweather to fight the interim.

The WBC would bend there own rulez and find every possible way to keep Mayweather there Champ. WBC regulations require the removal of their belt from a convicted felon. But Mayweather still havent been stripped.
The WBC hasn't found a hyped mexican boxer to give the title to and keep it hostage against real challengers ala Canelo and Jr
a world title has to be defended every 6 months, every year it should be one mandatory and one voluntary against a top15 ranked opponent.
technically floyd should be stripped or vacate but we know how WBC works... every rule can be overruled.
I think he'll do what Pacquiao did when he won the WBC jr middleweight belt. If Mayweather wins, he'll vacate the belt, and keep his welterweight title.
had to laugh at that..sorry hehe
You mean the winner of Alexander and Maidana?
Yeah, I just didn't write winner for some reason.
Floyd should just vacate it now, and they can make Alexander vs. Maidana for the WBC title, it's better than having someone like Selcuk Aydin or some European get it. Because they fight nothing but Euro bums and make millions, holding a title hostage in east jesus nowhere......see Senchenko for example.
I don't think he cares if he vacates or not at this point. All Floyd wants is money. He showed he doesn't care about collecting titles that much, when he refused to fight Shane for the WBA title. I'm surprised he's fighting for Cotto's WBA title.
WBC = We Be Crooks
Why are we even worried about what they will do? They will get a strap into Floyds hands one way or another, they are crooks at playing that game, adding and removing straps from fighters as they see fit and changing the rules to suit themselves. Why would they do any thing differently now?
If Floyd does end up vacating that title or his stripped while in jail, they should make the Alexander-Maidana vs. Guerrero or something for the vacant WBC title.
