It starts at the legs and comes up through his body and shoulder to place of impact. There's videos of this stuff available. It was a text book counter straight right thrown with full force. Martinez who also never displayed one punch power hit Williams with a similar punch. Martinez also had stated he was going for the KO.
They don't call JMM "Dinamita" for nothing.
I never predicted Pac would lose by KO.
All I am saying, is you have to be really careful.
Those bodyshots that Pac took are serious, they slowly break you down.
Those counter punches take there effect, not only physical but mentally.
What I am saying is due to Pacs style, medicore defense, missing alot of punches, rushing in...what did anyone expect would happen?
OMG! Finally some knowledge on these forums.
I remember running into Seckbach at the Home Depot Center and pretty much said what you just stated. I told him that Roach was an overrated trainer and doesn't teach his fighters defense. I told him Pacquiao has one of the worse defenses in boxing, and the only reason why he hasn't been caught is because his opponents were too scared to return punches or were too drained to pull the trigger. I also told him Pacquiao's speed was overrated because he throws punches recklessly, anyone can throw fast punches in bunches if they are not worried about defense. Pacquiao's defense has always been his offense, but against a great counter puncher it doesn't work. Anyways, Seckbach just laughed at me and walked away. Who's laughing now?
You didn't watch the cotto, Mosley,Margarito and clottey, hatton fights?
Even if Pac wins, he's not a defensive fighter and he walked through cotto Mosley, Hatton and clottey's best shots
The biggest tell that Pac is declining is that he took even harder shots from Marquez last year, who's body looks like it does now.
Hatton and Clottey are not huge punchers, and Cotto and Mosley were drained barely a shell of themselves. Margarito not a great puncher without the bricks either, but up till last night he gave Pacquiao the hardest punches as a naturally bigger man.
Anyone can be knocked out especially when you get hit as clean as Pacquiao did. Watch the fight closely and you'll see JMM was waiting to land that punch all fight, he was throwing mostly the left and going to the body with it. This lulled Pacquiao in to thinking that was the punch he had to watch for, i believe this is why Pacquiao came in at that stupid angle that lined his chin up with JMM's right. JMM laid the trap and Pacquiao walked in to it, with fantastic results. Pacquiao lost the previous fights but got lucky decisions, his luck ran out.
You can clearly see JMM plant and sit down on that punch with full force. Even his shoulder was into the force. JMM has never hit Pac with a punch as solid as that, contrary to what Pac fans and doubters will say. Straight text book punch.
dude in yellow shirt and guy running back and forth were straight trolling... lmao
I'm not gonna lie I'm straight hating and jealous of the way they all watch the fights together. I wish my fam would watch fights with me like that.
marquez went life and death with a past it barrera didn't he?
morales probabley beats him too
not including the welterweights
btw are we talkin pre- or post steroids marquez?
Since we are talking talking Pacquiao then yes we are talking post steroid JMM. We are also talking draining catch weights, so yes JMM wins.
More to the point, could Floyd beat the guys Pac fought? Thats the difference between Pac and the challengers to his p4p king status. Pac has done it, whereas the others we wonder if they could.
Its better to have the wins in the bag, rather than pro claim youd be able to do it like Floyd does.
lmao... Most of that is Floyd's resume before it was Pac's. Floyd is gonna demolish Cotto at his natural weight and embarrassed JMM unlike what Pac did. The only difference is Clottey and Margarito, and if you think either of them would have gave Floyd a challenge you are delusional.
I'm not sure when, but if I had to guess I would say when John Ruiz used that strategy for quite a few key victories. The same thing almost happened with spitting out the mouthpiece, but refs were forced to cracked down on that.
Bottom line is holding is illegal and the refs should crack down on it. Can you imagine how different the top of the food chain in boxing would be if holding issue was actually addressed?
With that being said Rios was still soundly outboxed by Abril. Most of the tie ups in that fight were initiated by Rios because he doesn't know how to fight on the inside. When on the inside you still need some sort of distance to get off clean punches. You can't just rush in and throw wild punches and try to lean and rest on a guy and expect him to just let you do it. It's not like Rios was throwing clean uppercuts and short hooks inside, he was throwing wild arm punches where most of the time his forearm was landing more than his glove.
I feel bad for Cotto and his fans, but f*ck Margarito!
I find it ironic that a piece of sh*t like Margarito who tried to deliberately injure people and end their careers by using illegal hand wraps is now in a position where his career is at risk due to an injury he received in the ring. Classic case of reaping what you sow!
Cotto's best wins were a close decision against Mosley and an avenged loss to Margarito who hasn't really amounted to anything since they took away his casts. So what does that tell you?
the guy was crowding him.
shoving his head into his face.
you're suppose to push off him off.
Your suppose to stick your jab out and use footwork to move out of the way when the guy is pressuring.
how the hell you gonna stick your jab out when the guy has his head in your face?
that's why you push him off , get space and throw punches.
You see the guy coming towards you before he smothers you put your jab out, simple. If you don't stop him with the jab then you learn how to fight on the inside and punch your way out, and using good footwork helps too. khan didn't have the tools to keep the pressure off, so he resorted to pushing which is illegal.
I trust Steward's response over those guys and Steward said that the point deductions were not the right call. And as correctly pointed out, pushing is a minor offense, and for a repeated minor offense, any good referee tells the fighter...."if you do that again, i'm going to take points"
And it's not as though the ref didn't mess a few low blows from Peterson, didn't get himself tangled up in the 1st round, etc, etc, etc.
In general, poor referee IMO.
When did Steward say this because he was not part of the announce team tonight? The referee also missed all the low blows Khan threw when Peterson started to apply effective pressure.
That tells me that you don't like Cotto.
Wrong! I very much enjoyed Cotto beating the crap out of Margarito and respect his professionalism. Don't see how you came to that conclusion from my comment?
I agree, they should make this fight.
We already seen what Cotto looks like at 145. It wouldn't be worth it for him to fight JMM at this stage. Cotto is barely conditioned to make it through 12 rounds at a comfortable weight, he will fall apart weighing 145 at this stage of his career.
If he cant take the criticism he shouldn't be headlining PPV cards asking people to pay to see him being taken to the limits by journeymen. He belongs on Azteca, ESPN FNF, maybe even SHObox or BAD.
It's all a business with this kid, from his dad to his promoter. You only call out DLH to make money not to prove yourself. He should be calling out Martinez, Forrest, Angulo, Kirkland if he wants to make a statement.
Arum is like Billy Mays selling snake oil! He wants people to buy a bullshit product and not complain. He should just give it away for free and build a customer base for it!
He's a poor man's Gatti
This is exactly what I was gonna say! With the right match making HBO or SHO could have a huge star just like Gatti was. Opponents like David Diaz, Julio Diaz, the guy who just beat Julio Diaz come to mind. He doesn't need to be at the top or win a belt just be put into back and forth brawls where he can come out on top and you have your modern day Gatti. We just need to find his Mickey ward now!
a skooling by marquez is very very likely...
but...
all valero needs is one clean shot to the chin...
pacquiao landed & jmm went down...
a shot barrera landed & jmm went down...
juan diaz's relatively soft punches found their mark...
juarez... john... they all landed one time or another...
why valero can't?
I think Juan's chin is underrated. He's hit the floor, but has there been a time when he didn't get up? Nope! The worst he has been hurt was in the 2nd Pac fight. Not even in the 1st fight was he that hurt, he was just caught cold. The 3rd kd he was playing to Cortez to try and get a point taken away from Pac cuz he was hit when he was on the floor. He's never really been in any danger of getting stopped.
What also is underrated is JMM's power. With his precision punching Valero will be out if caught when throwing those wide punches. Let's not forget Valero tasted the canvas when he fought Mosquera.
i wasnt questioning the manner of the loss...
what i was trying to point is who do u lost to?
sir, what version of tyson do u think looks better in retrospect...
the one KOed by lennox lewis in 8?
or the one KOed by kevin fvckin mcbride in 6?
thats my point isbj...
Well now your asking a different question. This question is asking about one fighter at 2 different points in his career.
The other question is about 2 fighters losing to 2 different fighters. Not the same question.
If your asking who I would rather lose to if I were a boxer of course it would be Manny! Does that help you out?
i was comparing the defeats of the 2 diazes my man...
does julio's KO loss in 5 to an unranked contender look better to u than losing out in 9 to the P4P number 1?
I knew what you were asking. Just can't answer that. I don't think anyone looks good losing. It's not like either of the two fights were premature stoppages or robberies. If you asked who was more competitive in their loss it would be Julio. Sure David loss to a "better" fighter but you do not know how Reyes would do against Pac or David if they fought him. All fighters are unranked at one point.
For example JMM beat Juan Diaz by KO and Nate got a decision. Does that mean JMM is better than Nate or looked better against Diaz? I don't think so. JMM just had a style that that fit Diaz better to manufacture that TKO.
I couldn't stand either Jones or Lewis.
Jones can't stop talking about himself or plugging something he's involved in and Lennox is very biased in ways I dont want to get into! IMO
its not so much the chin of david sir...
or his ability to absorb punishment...
its about the one who was dishing out that punishment...
whats ur argument for julio diaz? a jab here or there on rolando reyes' profile that proved nothing... rolando friggin' reyes...
honestly now sir...
u believe julio diaz's KO loss in 5 to rolando reyes looks better than david diaz's KO loss in 9 to possibly the best fighter of this decade?
if u are going to answer me yes... i will stop posting & leave this thread...
How does not being competitive for 9 rounds look good in anyone's eyes? I think the ref could have stopped that fight after 4 rnds. Anyways I will take Julio to defeat David if they fought. Julio is a better boxer.
Someone upload this shit to megaupload, or somewhere else for download. I'll give you 250K.
If you need the link just pm me or anyone else who is interested. Heard great things about it, I'm definitely buying this!
You're comparing apples and oranges here. Would a hospital hire someone to perform surgery after a 24 hr course? If they did they would be more culpable than the person who THOUGHT he knew what he was doing.
and even if he was married to someones sister, doesn't that say more about the commision that hired him than the man himself?
How is it apples & oranges if your putting someone's life at stake? Sure my examples may seem exaggerated but a persons life is the same whether on operating table or in a ring.
Bottom line everyone needs to be accountable for their own actions! That guy knows he does not belong there!
Why terminate a guy who was in most likelyhood never trained to find these kinds of discrepancies? He would only be a fall guy. The real blame should be placed on (other than Margs and Capetillo) the CSAC for not spending the money to train these guys, who for all intent purposes is just a figurhead of their commision.
Because that would be like me taking a job for missile defense for our country knowing I don't know shit about it. Yet, I knowingly take the responsibility and put innocent peoples' lives at stake for money. That's a pretty good reason he should be terminated!
... but your right the guys who hired him and "trained" him should also be disciplined!
Thing is, these commisions consider their inspectors "qualified". Can't really blame the guy if he was allowed to be an inspector but not properly trained.
Would you willingly perform surgery on a patient after a 24 hr crash course? That dude is as guilty as anyone else. He probably was married to someone's sister.
This deserves a bump! How did I miss this? He will skip through Cal's record like all the guys that skipped through Mona's vagina. The question should be can Calzaghe get through a whole season of The Tony Danza Show?
