I don't want to watch anything with the sound off but good gosh.
You're going for Khan, okay, but announce what's going on without that opinion thrown in.
Khan roughed up in the first round and it was all good. Khan has been doing a full body push that the ref was warning him for since the 2nd round, don't sound mad at the ref for taking a point.
I wish Roy Jones fought next week so i could get some real boxing talk.
Great fight. One thing about the Pushing deduction. A little shove/push is fine, the ref won't call that as long as it doesn't blatantly look like you're trying to push him across the whole ring. Should have been more careful.
I watched the UK broadcast and expected to hear a Khan bias...but to my surprise they kept saying that Khan was risking another point deduction throughout the fight...even they felt Khan deserved minimally the 2 deducted points and had Peterson winning or very close.
Lampley was AWFUL tonight. I honestly felt like I was listening to Khan's promoter/childhood friend/father the entire fight. I thought Max, who usually keeps it real, was pretty reasonable. Merchant was Merchant.
Lately, it's like Lampley has abandoned all pretense of being a neutral announcer....pac-marquez, cotto-margarito and now this.....
Max is reasonable, but the dude is clearly becoming more and more of a company man with every fight....
when you're more biased for a UK fighter than UK announcers , youve really hit rock bottom....

how the hell you gonna stick your jab out when the guy has his head in your face?
that's why you push him off , get space and throw punches.
peterson was doing nothing illegal. just good pressure. it's not peterson's fault his pressure was effective and khan couldn't keep him at a safe distance. it's khan's fault! going and breaking the rules was the only way khan could keep him away hence the point deductions.

Khan lost get over it
What nobody is really addressing here is this....
Yes, the referee was garbage. But he scored Khan with a knockdown in the first round that replay clearly showed was a trip : Khan landed a hook as Lamont was trying to retreat with Amir's leg behind him, so the shot caused Peterson to trip over Khan's leg going backwards.
Take that into mind, and Peterson was only "gifted" one point by the referee. And I don't really see that as a gift, either. As the referee warned Khan multiple times about pushing and holding Peterson's head down.
Granted he should have called a timeout to officially warn Amir that he was close to having a point deducted as all referees do, but one point deduction was clearly warranted, IMO.
Whenever Mayweather pushes off with his arms, most of you guys are the first to cry about him using his elbows.
I agree, thought, I think the point deduction should have been for holding the head down, not pushing, and Kahn was really doing that way to much.
I think 1 point was warranted, given the amount and blatant manner in which he was going about it.
The 1st point just evened things out for the bad KD call.
it was a close fight people should take away that knockdown and that last point deduction.
i will rewatch the fight and score it properly, but Peterson really impressed me tonight and win/lose or draw got himself a hell of a lot more fans tonight.
but i find it funny how the uk fans say froch won his fight and khan won this fight (clearly) when both khan and dirrell basically fought the same fight but khan got hit a 100 times more clearly than dirrell did also how floyd's a runner but khan is a boxer lol just nutt huggery to it's finest.
And LOL @ Pac fighting the best for 7 years.
Yeah, Clottey, a drained Oscar, a dead Margarito, and David Diaz are definitely "the best".
You're as much a fanboy as the people I'm attacking.
I will agree with most of that. But I didn't think the call was right on this fight.
Look at the rounds, look at the compubox, look at the rounds where points were deducted. At best, I could call it a draw. Given I don't agree with the point deductions at all, I thought it went down bad.
Most of the nuthugging is on one guy. Mayweather. To an extent, Paq, but Paq has also pretty much leveled all comers, fought top competition for about 7 years straight now, and been pretty active, so I think it's reasonable to expect that fanfare.
You had me in your corner right up until the bolded.
Not this stupid compubox bullshit again. Compubox has no bearing on scoring a fight whatsoever. And anybody that leans on it to back up their argument loses by default.
Compubox = Two dudes sitting at a desk behind a goddamn computer, clicking a button everytime they think a blow lands.

You see the guy coming towards you before he smothers you put your jab out, simple. If you don't stop him with the jab then you learn how to fight on the inside and punch your way out, and using good footwork helps too. khan didn't have the tools to keep the pressure off, so he resorted to pushing which is illegal.
I'm actually ashamed of most of the "fans" here. It seems like this place is nothing more than a virtual gathering of the sports most shamless nuthugging fans, as opposed to the place that it actually once was : A virtual gathering of fans who had their favorites, but kept it real and discussed boxing logically.
I will agree with most of that. But I didn't think the call was right on this fight.

I trust Steward's response over those guys and Steward said that the point deductions were not the right call. And as correctly pointed out, pushing is a minor offense, and for a repeated minor offense, any good referee tells the fighter...."if you do that again, i'm going to take points"
And it's not as though the ref didn't mess a few low blows from Peterson, didn't get himself tangled up in the 1st round, etc, etc, etc.
In general, poor referee IMO.
exactly, it was very close fight could go either way but the second deduction for khan is bit unfair, knowing peterson throw alot of low blow. i hope they got tony bayless in the rematch.
Yeah the HBO commentators were definitely biased as hell because Khan is an HBO/Golden Boy fighter. At least Kellerman argued with Merchant when Merchant said "Did the ref even give a warning?" I don't know what the hell the other 2 were watching. Khan was pushing off constantly throughout the fight and also putting his arm around Petersons head and pushing him down. He must have did it over 30 times. Someone please make a video of how many times Khan was pushing off. It's an illegal move point blank period. Just because some refs look the other way doesnt mean it's not illegal. I was telling my friend that Khan was getting away with pushing off so many times and i was happy when the ref finally warned him. I was shocked Peterson got the decision. I was sure those judges were Golden Boy judges.
did he get deducted 2 points for it?
then what's the problem?
come in and crowd with your head if you want but the other guy has the right to push you off too.
Not the way Khan did, you don't.
You use your shoulders/elbows to push off, you don't flat out use both hands on the other dude's chest to flat out push him backwards 5 feet.
