Arum is not going to make this fight or Spence Jr vs Crawford UNLESS it can make him a lot of money so the goal now is to get the Casual Sports fans into those match ups. Once that happens yes we will get both, but until then DO NOT get your damn hopes up expecting Arum to do us Hardcore Boxing Fans a Favor and get us these fights out of kindness and he not make much if any $ off of them. Also do not put it on the fighters, I don't think any of these fighters are afraid of each other it is the people behind them that wants to make sure it is Profitable and from a business standpoint you understand it but from a fan standpoint it sucks having to wait
Exactly, only way these fights happen is if Mikey and Spence agree to Arum's terms and agree to fight on ESPN. There is no way in hell Arum will allow Loma and Crawford to fight on any other network that is not ESPN. We will get the they priced themselves out from Arum eventhough, Mikey has already stated that he could offer Loma more money to fight him on Showtime.
I did and did't like it one bit. Watch about a few rounds and turned it off. Chose to watch the Showtime fights instead. I stream Showtime through Amazon, so it was either watch ESPN+ or Showtime, Showtime production seems a lot better.
Haha you must be joking. Otherwise, sounds like wbc propaganda.
Neither Heiland or Centeno have fought more than 1 top 10 mw, let alone for a world title. Centeno's ONLY 12 rounder was vs Charlo, and one legged Heiland's last 12 rounder was when he beat Macklin in 2014 (fought nobodies after that).
I'm all for fighting mandatories, but wbc & ibf need to get their sh*t together, so being undisputed isn't such a headfuck. There should not be 2 abc's demanding mandatories at the same time. Also, ibf should not force a mandatory on 3 weeks notice.. should have done it before or not at all.
How do you think GGG got his WBC and WBA titles? He didn't beat any top fighter to become a mandatory or interim title holder. Those are two titles that were hande to him and never even beat a champion for them. The only belt he actually won by beating the champ was the one that got stripped, the IBF. It was the IBF's turn as GGG hasn't done a mandatory since 2016. IBF gave him an exemption to fight Canelo. Since he wasn't fighting Canelo, he had to make his mandatory, they allowed him another exemption to fight Vanes but had agree to fight his mandatory next. Pretty simple if you ask me.
I don't think anyone is ducking Charlo. He hasn't beaten anyone at mw.
The same could be said about Canelo, he has yet to beat anyone at MW. A real MW.
That's potentially another can of worms. What if a bar owner does have the app, and decides to charge a cover? If one also has the app @ home, but is away and finds said bar, how much value is in paying again?
Will a bar owner and restaurants want to invest in changing their whole system to stream a fight here and there. They pretty much have to purchase smart tvs or a firestick for each tv.
Yeah. I ain't mad at Bob and ESPN I just don't feel I should have to pay $60 plus tax more than I already do to watch TR fighters.
I understand the financial benefit for the boxers. it feels like I am paying for old fights and TR sparring sessions for their top guys.
What really sucks is some locations do not have the app so I can't even watch the fights in a sports bar. I was out of town and tried to watch the fight at a Hooters in Maryland but they obviously didn't have it.
That is the downfall of Arum's ESPN+ and Hearn's DAZN. Restaurants and Bars aren't set up to stream sports. I really doubt they would invest and change their whole setup to stream a fight here and there.
good point there
however, the kind of person who will be subscribing to ESPN+, will likely already have the ESPN app on their mobile device.
it's a niche product serving a niche market, remember this.
DAZN, is a different beast though. their offerings are supposed to be more robust, especially if you use a VPN to access geo-restricted content (such as NFL Sunday Ticket in Canada)
I know businesses cant skirt the geo-restriction without risk of penalty. but for us private users, im already planning on doing the NFL Sunday Ticket via DAZN. far cheaper than the actual service in the USA
I've read from people that stream the NFL Ticket in Canada through DAZN, that it is horrible. I believe there's a twitter account that details this, heres the link
https://twitter.com/daznsucks?lang=en
I don't see a App strictly for BOXING Working probably EVER because the sport particularly in the US is not that Popular that is the Harsh Reality that we the Hardcore Boxing Fans are in Denial About. Why do you think Networks would rather invest BIG in UFC and WWE but not as much for Boxing :dunno:
For ESPN+ they at least have the UFC coming Next Year now that will drive up Subscribers on top of other Content of more popular sports. But NO BOXING ALONE can't be the driving force for ESPN+ or Any App that won't work. I don't think DAZN is just depending on Boxing Either, they're likely looking to secure the rights to other sports in America to help bring in Subs because again boxing ALONE will not get it done
The problem with DAZN trying to secure rights to other sports in the US is that those sports are pretty much tied up to networks for years. The NFL is tied up until 2022 with CBS,Fox,NBC and ESPN. I believe both the NBA and MLB are sold tied up until around 2022. So DAZN isn't getting any of those sports on their platform in the US. They might get thrown a few games like the NFL does with Amazon Prime on Thursdays , DAZN might work well in other contries that don't get to watch US based sports but I've heard that the NFL on DAZN Canada is garbage and doesn't work well.
Arum has already made two Crawford fights vs Haymon fighters in John Molina and Felix Diaz. I don't see any other fights vs Haymon's top welters for a while but not because Arum won't work with Haymon but because Haymon will want to keep his fighters in house. He has Porter and Garcia winning. Of course he would want that winner to fight Spence and the loser could always have a rematch with Thurman. Why would he send one of those guys to fight Crawford in a very risky fight? Haymon likes to make in house fights as much as possible and you can't really blame him here. Sure he might send Luis Collazo and Victor Ortiz over but not some high level guy. Even the Alexander Berto winner he probably wants to keep for his top guys
Molina and Diaz are lower tier fighters compared to Garcia, Thurman, Porter and Spence. Arum wanted options on Diaz if he won. Arum wants anyone who is going to fight Loma or Crawford to agree to his demands and fight on ESPN. He will not allow Loma or Crawford to fight on another network regardless if they're willing to pay more. He has said it many times. Arum has no problem sending his lower tier fighter to fight on other networks. You are right about Haymon sending a Collazo or Ortiz over and agreeing to fight on ESPN because they're not such a big thing for Showtime. Just like Arum would send an Alvarado or Benavidez over.
Why would anyone sign with Roc Nation? They never didn't anything for any of their fighters. Their promoting sucked for Ward and Cotto. Daniel "Twitch" Franco landed in a coma after a fight and Roc Nation abandoned him. They have yet to do anything for him and his family. Pretty sad to hear that Roc Nation did him like that.
I don't see Jacobs destroying Derev. Jacobs barely got by Sulecki. Has anyone actually seen Derev fight? I wouldn't be surprised if Derev KOs Jacobs. Derev goes in there an attacks. If they do fight, I will put money on Derev, especially if Jacobs is a big favorite
What didn't you like about the production?
The broadcast team was terrible and it seemed to me that there was a lot of dead time. It took forever in between fights, that was one of the main reasons I stopped watching. A also buffered a bit.
How can he fight sergey in august when he had plans to fight canelo in september?
GGG got and exemption from the iBF to fight only Canelo on May 5th, when that fight fell through the IBF had to enforce their rules and order his mandatory. Again GGG asked for an exemption for the may 5th fight against Vanes and was granted but had to agree to fight with the mandatory next within 90 days as part of the deal. GGG hasn't faced an IBF mandatory since 2016
Please explain to me how the IBF sanctioned Brook but not even an exemption for Vanes in a short notice bout? It makes no sense.
He got an exemption for the Vanes fight, but he had to fight Derv next. The IBF gave him an exemption for the Canelo fight but had to fight his mandatory, when that fight fell through he had to fight Derv next but the IBF allowed an exemption to fight Vanes. As for the Brook fight, he had already fought the IBF mandatory in Wade a fight before.
Hearn is limiting earning potential by paying more money to guys???
Granted the PPV angle will limit the biggest names upside, but thats a couple guys every decade who are losing money & there would probably be more guys getting paid more under the level of those couple PPV guys so it'll all equal out & it'll have more fighters making more big money most likely, but yes less Floyd's & Manny's around.
Seems from the offers he is been making, it's not that much and fighters are making more. Say a Charlo signs with Hearn and DAZN, will he be fighting a GGG or Canelo on DAZN? I doubt that, he doesn't need Hearn to get that fight. Jacobs got a PPV fight without Hearn and since then he hasn't really done much since signing with Hearn. Will the fighters be taking in some of the revenue they are now with Hearn? Hearn adds another guy these fighters have to give a cut of their earnings to. There's a lot of variable out there, but like Mikey said, the offers sounds good but it's not something he isn't doing on his own.
Some of you have been whiny little b1tches about anything Golovkin related.
For the last 5 years, virtually everything Golovkin has done was to try to unify all the belts. From chasing Sturm, to Martinez, to Cotto, to Canelo, to calling out Lee and BJS. For the past 5 years the message of these little whiny morons has been "who cares about belts unification means nothing you should move up".
And now you're celebrating that you think he got 'outmaneuvered' by a guy who got busted for PEDs 2 months ago? Take a fukin shot of whiskey and get some self respect.
GGG doesn't care about unifying belts, he always wanted that Floyd or Canelo payday. What belt does Canelo even hold? Why is GGG chasing Canelo so much when he isn't even a champ? If he really wanted all the belts he would have been chasing Saunders instead of Canelo. The belts mattered so much but was quick to say he'd go to 154 to fight Floyd or up to 168 for Chavez Jr. GGG had an easy choice, they knew in advance that Canelo failed the test. They knew the IBF gave them an exemption to face Canelo and had to face the mandatory after him. Negotiate a fight with the mandatory as a backup in case the fight gets cancelled. Move the fight date in order to satisfy his mandatory. Instead they waited to the last minute, took on Vanes instead Of Dev and were reluctant to change dates, especially after moving venues and losing revenue due to the fact that they scheduled a fight a day after Golden Boy had one in the same venue.
It sounds like Schaeffer hasn't really done much research on the guys behind DAZN. This is also not a boxing subscription platform, but just sports - and boxing comes as part of that.
Showtime haven't made a PPV fight not including Floyd since..... when? I actually don't know.
Dazn is great for people not living in the US and don't have access to watch certain sports. They get to watch US based sports along with PPVs. Here in the US, why would I want to suscribe to DAZN when I could flip the channel and watch MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and some soccer. Only sports I care to watch are the NFL, MLB, the NBA and boxing. I don't need a DAZN subscription to watch that. As for boxing, Schaeffer has a point, signing a deal to DAZN and Hearn could limit a fighters earning potential. Hearn could just do fight by fight basis, but I'm sure he wants promotional contracts to control a fighter.
yes hes a bum like roy. he needs to fight like floyd and only potshot and be boring against faded fighters. that is true greatness
Time will only tell if Loma could last another 10 years fighting in the same style he's fighting now. I really doubt he can fight another 5 years like that. Floyd was an offense machine when he was younger and changed his style to preserve his ability to fight until he was 40. Loma already got injured and had surgery, which could be telling in the future. He will either adapt his skills and become like Floyd, or end up like Roy Jones after he lost all his natural abilities.
The ironic thing is the Floyd is older than Salido by one year, Floyd would have probably KOd Salido in his second fight if did indeed fight in '96 when they first started out. Salido had lost 3 of his first 9 fights. Salido was 35 when he fought a 25 year old Loma. Floyd would have been 18 to Salido's 35.
Why should Joshua fight in the USA
Joshua is the a side, he decides everything and wilder is a boy compared to him
Why is wilder afraid to fight the true Champion ?
Because it's Team Wilder who made the bigger offer between the 2 of them. AJ received what he was asking for in that 50 million offer . Now he's backtracking and if he really wants to fight in the UK, just make a better counter offer then what Hearn initially was giving Wilder.
At $4.99 per month it's better than PPV and cheaper than HBO and SHO.
It's 4.99 but its something that I personally don't need. I rarely watch ESPN for any other sports or their biased shows. If there's a good fight I'll watch it on ESPN. I pay $8.99 for Showtime and that's because I like their shows and boxing. The problem with ESPN+ and this new Dazn, can you go into a bar or restaurant and expect them to have these streaming services? Will bars and restaurants want to change their whole setup and add streaming services, which would add a cost to them for each tv?
This good news for Lomachenko/Garcia, Hearn and Arum have a good relationship, Dana White would be another roadblock
But Arum would want the fight on ESPN and Top Rank promoting it. Arum could careless if Hearn and Dazn will pay more for the fight. Only question is, does Dazn broadcast ESPN?
Sure Hearn, Khan ain't fighting any of those guys. Him and Brook will fight tomato cans until u can get them to fight each other. Just look at all the tough fights he's put Jacobs in since he became his promoter. He isn't trying to put these fighters in with a risky opponent unless its a big payday.
I could careless for the fight. The first one was kinda boring, to think about it Canelos last few fights have been boring. Glad I booked a trip to Miami on the 5th instead, no need to tune in to GGGs fight when I could party in South Beach.
Golden Boy and Oscar don't make stars or promote their fighters as much as people think. The only fighter they talk about is Canelo. Linares is fighting Loma and they barely mention that fight on any of their social media accounts. They were only promoting the Canelo fight. Linares has been with GB for over 5 years and still no one knows who he is. Oscars talks more about promoting fighters that aren't even signed to him. TMT is doing ok and has promoted some good cards. Promoters talks bout how fighters need to be promoted but in reality, look at all the promoters out there and they have 1 or 2 top fighters that are well known.
Wilder keeps saying he doesn't fight for money and he doesn't care about money, but then he's offered 6x his highest amount and suddenly he does care about the money.
I don't get it.
Manny used to say the same thing...
I vaguely remember. Lol
Fischer seems like the type to talk tough online, but sh1t his pants in any real life confrontation.
He is actually a lil b1tch. My buddy confronted him at the Forum after Fisher was getting all tough with him on Twitter I believe. He was scared sh1tless and kept saying he had no beef. His buddy had to go get security.
