Doug Fisher on tainted beef

I don’t really take this guy seriously. For me him and people like Steve Kim have zero credibility. They target certain demographics and use race to bait/stereotype fans. Their opinions hold no credibility.

I like Dougie but he is contradicting himself here. I realize Oscar is essentially writing his paychecks, so he may or may not be able to say what he's really thinking, but it's very difficult to defend Canelo in 2018. If this were 2011 maybe, but not after 7 years of athletes using the tainted meat excuse.

I think this is a pretty objective take. Was Canelo trying to cheat? Yeah, probably. But we really don't know and who knows if they'll be able to even get to the bottom of it

Even though this was weak as hell, Doug Fisher is a good dude. I don't agree with everything he says but he's OK in my book Generally agree. And he’s very good when he goes into boxing history to provide perspective that others don’t, with a real enthusiasm. That’s pretty cool. But he does seem to have a fatty for Canelo like the test of the industry....

I noticed the same vibe, but the OP put it beautifully in stark black and white. Canelo always seems to receive extra credit from the whole industry, the judges, the writers, the loud little pundits. There’s always this air of getting a free pass because he’s the “A side.” Or whatever it is. I don’t like it.

Doug is a good guy and I've enjoyed his stuff since HOB (back in the late 90's), had beers with him and talked to him at plenty of fights. I don't agree with his take on giving Canelo he benefit of the doubt but it's all good though. Hard to agree on everything. Yeah he's decent for the most part in my opinion. I don't read the Ring these days but I'll check out the website when he answers readers questions. 'Monday mailbag' I think it may be called? That's usually a good read.
