reason was that he just got the wbc belt "upgraded" so technically the IBF was in rotation for th defense since his last one for that belt was dominic wade
I'm not following... the IBF should have come after the WBC mandatory defense shouldn't it? That's why the Canelo rematch was a mandatory and why the IBF had allowed it next. I'm not sure that Golovkin getting the title outside the ring has a bearing.
The rotation would normally have been:
IBF: Wade
Voluntary: Brook
WBA: Jacobs
Voluntary: Canelo
WBC: Canelo
Voluntary: ??
IBF: Derevyanchenko
Voluntary: ??
WBA: Jacobs (or maybe Murata)
I can quite understand the frustration of the IBF at having to wait well over 2 years for their mandatory to get a shot, but when you're dealing with guys who only fight once or twice a year it's kind of inevitable. Best I can tell they figured that by fighting a voluntary instead of his agreed upon WBC mandatory (regardless of the reason) Golovkin was kinda bypassing his WBC mandatory and thus owed them his next fight, although this was never the position taken by the WBC - hence retaining Canelo as mandatory despite his ban and insisting that Golovkin would have to fight Charlo if he couldn't reach an agreement with Canelo. In effect both the IBF and WBC were simultaneously claiming that Golovkin was obliged to fight their mando next.
If thats the case then surely you must agree there is only one logical path for the IBF to follow too as they have rules they follow that GGG was aware of yet you oddly put most of the blame on them despite them being reactionary through this whole thing. That is NOT the only path to follow, and that sure as hell isn't logical. I'm all for organizations not being corrupt idiots. But have some common fukin sense. They didn't have any common sense when they stripped Fury, and they sure as hell didn't have common sense when they stripped Golovkin.
By the way, please find me a line in the IBF's rules that says they have any right to force mandatories on short notice. Nobody does that, because it's RIDICULOUS.
Stupid sh1t likes this is what gives us 5 paper champs in the division, creating a clusterfuk and eroding respect for the sport. That's how we end up with imbeciles like Charles Martin holding a 'championship belt'. THAT is why I dislike the decsion.
But still somehow to you this is the IBF's fault & Canelo's fault instead of GGG's for reacting like he did. GGG is just an innocent bystander in life who can do no wrong apparently.Dude, stop trying to paint me as some victim blaming Golovkin fanboi. I've sh1t on Golovkin before, on Sanchez and Loeffler. I've given props to fighters I despise (including Fury, ha), and try to call the truth as I see it.
I don't care who's name is associated with these actions. IBF acted like dumbass robots they are, which will create another paper champion, Canelo got caught pissing dirty 3 months away from the fight, and Golovkin acted the same fuking way every single other fighter in his position would have.
And please note I'm not alone in this opinion. In another thread (dont remember which), you were having an argument with Sun-Tzu who was of a very similar opinion.
Anyway, this argument has gone far enough. Mad love and take it easy.
I think most understand that, the OP even created a thread a couple months back to remind everyone of the key part you left out...WHY Golovkin was forced to fight Wade vs Tureano...because he withdrew from an injury. Otherwise we'd all be putting him down as another felled opponent on the long list of GGG can crushing while Wade vs Dev would have been the ordered next eliminator.
“This is treated as a normal mandatory fight,” IBF spokesperson Jeanette Salazar confirmed to BoxingScene.com. “e always move on to the leading available contender (in the event of the mandatory dropping out). We would only move on (sooner) if (Wade) wasn’t available.”
yup I remember making that :D
im well aware of why wade replaced johnson...just saying...sergiy beat that guy that was actually supposed to fight golovkin.....sergiy is just as good of a mando as any, for that crap organization, despite his short record
true that

i'm supposed to like the IBF now?
wade beat the fighter with a losing record that derevyenchenko just fought :lol1:
again, this is not about a guy named sergiy, adn you know it.

are you getting a cut of floyd mayweather's paycheck?
that lil G grew up in a much rougher part of the world than you've ever been to
wtf does floyd have to do with any of this?
and you dont even know where I grew up at.....
where did you happen to grow up?
cuz where im from my block was riddled with gangs, shootings and drugs so go fuck yourself
Weird thing was if he just hadn't fought anyone on May the 5th he would still technically be on the WBCs position in the mandatory rotation. In fact, the WBC still did consider him to be obligated to them. What's slightly odd is that the IBF jumped in when technically it was still the WBCs turn. Ain't really gonna blame the IBF cos I think that it's the job of the orgs to make sure their contenders get a shot, but the whole situation was slightly odd. I mean the purpose of the sanction orgs allowing unified titlists to defend in rotation is exactly to prevent this sort of situation arising yet somehow just by taking a short notice 'filler' fight Golovkin apparently broke the system.
EDIT: What should probably have happened was that the WBC should have immediately ordered GGG to face Jermall when Canelo withdrew. Course - they weren't gonna do that cos Mauricio really wants Canelo to get another shot. In the absence of decisive action from the WBC it looks like the IBF just kinda jumped the gun. Unusual situation all round, really.

i wasnt aware, ty. thats not good on 3G, perhaps he really is thinking hes gone downhill.
I put the blame more on tom loeff......
Let's remember that Canelo dropped the WBC belt in June of '16 & fought Smith for 154 title in Sept '16. This was almost a full year prior to them removing Canelo as the champ. Golovkin fought Jacobs in March '17 when both were ranked #1 & #2 for a clear line to establish new lineage. As I said, they're all flawed & politics has a lot to do with it.
yup yup.... tbrb uses the quote of when canelo said hes not mw etc.....
thats the timeline they are using.... its in the links of the transnational that I provided
thats cuz in march canelo was still "king" when the ggg and jacobs fight happened...... that whole abduction thing with canelo happened after the fight where canelo was pushed down to #2 and ggg at #1 while the lineal title was vacated

i know what you mean tho

They put Canelo at #2 & left the Champion open, what was the point? He had wins over the #2 & #3 fighters in April. If they thought he wasn't a MW then why was he in the next month's rankings?

Canelo recently stated plainly that he is not the middleweight champion. He said he used to be, but no longer is. That’s an abdication. He plainly disavowed any notion that he is the champion and we are bound to follow that statement. If he made that statement after the GGG-Canelo announcement, we would have been bound to follow it then as well. In fact, you may or may not know that we were very close to declaring the middleweight throne open in February given a number of clear indications in GBP statements that Canelo had effectively abdicated, but after he stated his intention to fight at middleweight in the fall, we exercised caution.
If we, as you imply, were prone to shenanigans, we would have declared his abdication then, in time for #1 vs. #2 (GGG-Jacobs). But we didn’t.
What happened was very simple. Canelo announced his abdication, we declared the middleweight throne open. No mistake. Once that happened, we had to decide where to rank him at middleweight -if at all. Many members, including this one, fought the thought that he should be ranked near the top –but we lost. Canelo went from the throne to #3.

so what happened to may 5th?
that was the deal that the IBF had for granting the pass to fight vanes martirosyan instead of derevyanchenko on may 5th.... thats why the august date comes up

no one is mad actually.... Ive even said a few times on nsb that I actually feel bad for ggg cuz his team is shiiit and are not helping him imo
anyways try and answer the question please:
did canelo somehow force ggg to fight vanes instead of derev on may 5th?
use all the assumptions that you want..... it wont get you nowhere..
and yes you are an idiot if you think this thread is about someone being mad at lilg and yea I said lilg so fuggin what you are not gonna do nothing about it
i'll laugh at you here or in your face for calling a man that could make you his girlfriend "lil G"
what does that make you, lil G's girlfriend? are you getting a cut of floyd mayweather's paycheck?
that lil G grew up in a much rougher part of the world than you've ever been to, and he was a bad, bad kid from all accounts. there's probably an element left of the kind of violent and capable person that you should be glad you have never encountered. just be glad you don't have the opportunity to call him lil G in a world in which there'd be no consequences for what he'd do to you .
be glad you have the internet to call a professional boxer, and the most avoided one of the last five years at that, Lil G.
lil G doe...
not really actually..... they said that once canelo said that "hes not middleweight" and then went down to fight smith for a 154 lbs title that the lineal position was vacated by canelo's actions etc

what are you so mad about?
i mean really, what are you so mad about?
that he didn't fight this guy?
that's his best win, by the way!
you want to knowwhat you're mad about? golovkin. you're mad at golovkin. you brought baggage in from elsewhere and you are letting it get in the way of an evaluation of what is going on here.
golovkin doesn't have to fight a guy whose best win is trueno johnson because you or the IBF says so. that's just an objective reality. he fought canelo, the other best MW on the planet along with saunders, in his last fight. and he's about to fight him again.
but of course you have an issue with golovkin not fighting some russian you wouldn't give a damn about otherwise.
you act like he's a coward, ducks fighters, while he literally sandwiches not fighting sergey freaking derevyenchenko between fighting alvarez twice.
definitely a coward :lol1:
and of course, most of you brough tthis baggage with you all the way back from floyd mayweather, and if floyd did this you'd be acting like you got a cut of his purse and calling him a genius.
it is what it is. i'm not an idiot and i know exactly what's going on. this is not about sergey derevyenchenko actually being good or worthy of somebody saying golovkin ducked him becaus ehe was good. none have you have made a peep about that.

I'd agree with this except Golovkin is the only one to have beaten 3 currently listed in their top 10. Saunders is the only other to have beaten 1 (Lemieux) while none of the others have even one single win against their top 10 opponents. This is disregarding the controversial draw with Canelo since he's not listed atm.
If that's not a clear distinction of the current MW champion, I don't know what is.
They're all flawed & this is why there's always been some kind of controversy surrounding these things. Why I posted GGG's wins against top 5 opponents two of which were ranked #2 at the time. It's as clear as can be yet even TBRB still has it vacant & won't declare one until Canelo returns & is reinserted into the rankings. I'm going to assume they put him at #2 over Saunders come September.
not really actually..... they said that once canelo said that "hes not middleweight" and then went down to fight smith for a 154 lbs title that the lineal position was vacated by canelo's actions etc
MIDDLEWEIGHT
Throne declared open 18 April 2017 after Saul Alvarez, in answer to a question posed by member Jake Donovan about his middleweight title status on 11 April, stated: “I am not a middleweight champion. I was at one point, but I am no longer the middleweight champ.” Alvarez has thus formerly abdicated, as per the charter, the middleweight throne.

I use transnational boxing ranks personally myself..... they are super strict and imo has the best rankings out of all of them and they keep the lineal line intact
