Theres a Tyson sparring clip, and his hands are pretty damn fast for a 39 year old heavywieght, Theres also a McBride Sparring, I think this ones over in 1 round, lol, Take a look if ur able to stream videos.
thanks for th hookup...yep, this won't last long. i'll be at the fight so i'm hoping for a good undercard!
i feel that the wins over Tyson added to his legacy, but the man was the original Warrior before Tyson stepped into the ring with him. my only wish is that they would've fought back in '91 before a freak sit-up injury and the oh so pesky prinson stint came and ruined things. Evander would've beaten Mike then for the same reasons that he beat him in '96...
This fight could be closer than everyone thinks. I think Gatti will be the much bigger man (outweighing him by anywhere between 10 and 15 lbs) when they come into the ring. He will have the strength to apply the kind of pressure that Castillo did. Also, recall that Mayweather has those fragile hands. What is going to happen if, after dominating Gatti for 4-5 rounds with his uncanny speed, he hurts his hands again. How does he keep Gatti off of him for another 7-8 rounds?
I think you have to favor Mayweather, but things could get very interesting down the stretch.
i think this may be the predicton that's closest to reality. i'm hoping Gatti puts a beatdown on Mayweather culminating in a spectacular KO.
FSay all you want about us overhyping Floyd's win. Like I have said before, Floyd is God...
Floyd is the heir apparent to the P4P throne...he is the Robinson
Floyd did a number on Gatti and it was good to see him speak about Gatti respectfully after the fight.
in the days leading up to the fight, I read how Floyd pronounced himself to be "the King of kings" and i see in this post he's called "god"...i know what people are trying to say when they make these statements, but there is but one King of kings - Jesus Christ and if Floyd is "god", it would have to be with a small "g"...
you gotta be careful what you allow to come out of your mouth even in jest...
You going to sit through the Ali fight or get a hot dog and drain the main vein instead?
wassup spinksjinx?
i'll watch it...this will be only the 2nd fight card i will be able to see live. i went to the gatti-leija fight but was working and got stuck in the press room so i couldn't really enjoy it. do you know who Sharmb Mitchell is fighting?
hey, i have an idea...why don't the alphabet organizations and promoters all get together and give Mayweather all the belts from 140 to heavyweight and all the cash he can carry...i mean, we all "KNOW" what the outcome of the gatti fight and any other fight involving PBF will be, right??
no we don't..no outcome is assured and any post regarding a fight that is yet to happen is pure opinion and speculation. that's why they actually fight these things because all kinds of variable come into play in a fight. any one fighter can look like a world beater on "paper", but when you step into the ring, reality takes over. someone may be a superior boxer, but what if he's tagged and hurt early in round 1? what if he's cut by an accidental headbut? those plans go out the window. that's why the best boxers are able to adjust to various situations in the ring.
i wonder what the forum posts would've looked like before the Tyson v Douglas fight or the Ali v Foreman fight. we all KNEW what was going to happen then, right?
all this talk about the physical tools that Taylor has that equal or surpass Hopkins is missing the point by a mile. Hopkins will beat Taylor with his mind. one way or another, be it before or during the fight, Hopkins will get inside Taylor's head by doing or saying something. look what he did against ultra confident Tito and Flag Gate. Hopkins will take Taylor off his game plan. He'll be aided in this endeavor by the fact that Taylor hasn't been on this kind of stage before and will have nerves. Hopkins has been here before and knows in his heart that he will defeat this kid. he's done it at least 20 times before. After Taylor is taken off his game plan, Hopkins will pick away at whichever gap in Taylor's defense he chooses. at the end of the fight, i'm thinking Hopkins will have taught Taylor a valuable lesson with which he should/could win the middleweight title AFTER Hopkins rides off into the sunset.
i'm thinking Hopkins by UD...
p-zout!
He's not saying he's the best, he's just a mon who's willing to fight the best.
heh heh!
johnson wins again...good to see a humble man win for a change.
Nah, Hopkins is going to take him to School and give him a pop quiz. :D
exactly! that's what i'm talking about...look at this brotha's name - The Truth!
definitely the 4th. i just watched the fight. i believe it's a good thing when a fighter refrains from getting too excited and punching himself out when he has a fighter hurt, but Corley seems to have a habit of being too laid back. when he hurt Mayweather, he got some good shots in, but i think he could've/should've had a greater sense of urgency than he exhibited. he did the same thing when he had Cotto hurt. he kinda strolled over to him like he had all day and let him off the hook.
That was a great article, but an even better story of Benn's transformation. what he's doing is what many people are afraid to and run from: answering the call of the Lord. as the scripture says: "The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few". it's good to see one more labourer to bring in the Lord's harvest.
the Bible says that the Lord wishes that none be lost (to satan) and salvation is available to all if you just accept it. if there's anyone out there who doesn't know Jesus, answer His call before it's too late.
Oh...and Larry Merchant interviewing Hopkins pissed me off. Let the man speak. Sheesh!
Exactly! somebody needs to tell Merchant that it's not his show. if not for the fighters, who would tune in to hear him ramble? he's so self-absorbed that it's not even funny.
Hopkins won that fight and should still be the champ. if you would've asked Taylor, Burns or DiBella after the fight but before the decision was announced, they would've told you so.
Hopkins allowed Taylor to shoot his load early while he gauged his speed, power and ascertained what his fight plan was and then he started dispensing his boxing lesson. Taylor was hurt twice and was led around the ring as if by leash for the entire 2nd half of the fight.
What sickens me is the commentary. it's obvious that HBO was pushing for Taylor because they have no one left in their stable to carry the HBO banner. Lampley screamed about Taylor's missed punches while not even mentioning Hopkins' landed punches. Merchant was so busy discrediting Hopkins that he was missing Hopkins' work. Roy was the only voice of truth on the mic that night.
Hopkins should stillbe champ and Taylor knows it!
as has been stated by others, it was a close fight, but i thought Hopkins won. taylor was busier early but hopkins landed the better quality of punches. per jim lampley, one of the judges gave the 12th to Taylor. how you can manage to give taylor the 12th is beyond me. taylor probably lost a lot of energy from being over hyped and a lot more from swinging for the fences with some of his punches. evan when taylor was busier, i felt hopkins was in control.
The outcome of Saturday’s fight has mentally set Hopkins up for victory in the rematch. Throughout his career, Hopkins has viewed himself as being on the outside of boxing looking in. He has railed against the boxing establishment for robbing him and treating him unfairly and, rightly or wrongly, he has used this as motivation to achieve what he has in the ring. Hopkins feels that he won Saturday’s fight and by unanimous decision. He feels that HBO took the opportunity to steal his belts to give it to the fighter that they project as being "the future of boxing". Now he truly has something to fight for.
I predict that Hopkins will train like a madman (even more so than he normally does) and he and Bowie Fischer will devise the perfect fight plan to use Taylor’s youth, speed and aggression against him. I think Hopkins realizes that he started too late and, though he won’t jump right on him from the start of Rd 1, he won’t wait until the middle of the fight either. He will, however, make Taylor believe he’s coming after him from the opening bell by making select pre-fight comments.
Hopkins will set all kinds of traps for Taylor and be generally successful at catching Taylor with counters. This will have Taylor thinking back to the later rounds of the first fight when Hopkins had him hurt.
On the other side of the ring, I feel that Taylor believes that he got away with one last time and will be motivated to prove that he deserves the mantle of Undisputed Middleweight Champ. This time around, a sharper Hopkins will hurt Taylor earlier than he did in the first fight and, will eventually either drop Taylor and win a majority or unanimous decision or catch him in a corner and throw a barrage of punches at Taylor prompting the ref to stop the match.
Quartey wins by UD. Trinidad stands right in front of you and tries to walk you down. as soon as Trinidad got set to punch, Quartey would fire that bazooka in his face...over and over and over. when Trinidad would land anything, Quartey would give that "nice try" smile before plastering him with 40 more jabs.
