Most people agree Meldrick Taylor was robbed against chavez in there first fight. HOPKINS/TAYLOR was a Meldrick Taylor/Ceasar Chavez fight except Jermain Taylor took less punishment.
If Hops was robbed then his people and the Xecutioner was definitely in on it, I think the fight was fixed period. Think about it guys which would the mainstream boxing fans see Hops fight next, Wright and his boring way of fighting or Tarver who's still starving for people to watch him or the young guy that beat the old bastard that had a history w/ the young fighter's promoter, people in general would be more intrigued w/ the drama of old versus young plus ex-con vs. white collar this type of story doesn't get old. Lets stop being gullible, boxing's biggest way of generating money are through these means. Fixed fights happen more often than we think, its just way too easy. Promoters have the "formula" down why change it, the fans seem to bite every single time(myself included).
Actually...."fixed" fights happen LESS than the general public believes.
Too many people don't understand the sport enough to be able to fathom certain results, like this fight.
Hopkins definitely took over the fight late. Taylor came on strong in the beginning but hop had him in the later rounds. I had teh fight 115 hop and 113 taylor or at best a draw but I didnt have Taylor winning. but cant cry over spilled milk they will rematch eventually.
But taylor got the win and you cannot take that from him. I definitely was wrong and would have lost if any of you had bet me.
My hat goes off to the kid he got the win so right now he is the champ, my only gripe is with his management for guiding his career in the most cautious way possible. allowing him to feast on retired middleweights and blown up junior middle and welterweights. the re-match will probably play out differently
We watched a PRIME Taylor in the fight of his life. He knew what he needed to do, so he went for it. He fought the fight of his life and there's no "adjustments" possible for the rematch. What we saw Taylor dish-out is exactly wat he'll bring next time.
The one possible difference is Taylor might be a bit more reserved, so that he'll have more late energy, but that approach will be Nard's trap. If I'm wrong, then we'll see Taylor come out strong again, but there's no way he's gonna' be stronger next time around, it'll just be more of the same OR Taylor brings less.
I understand you are a Jermain fanboy and I am a bigger fan of Taylor than Hopkins. But I will give credit where it is needed but Jermain did not clearly win that fight. I dont know where you are getting that Hopkins only had the last 3 rounds. He completely dominated him rounds 8-12 and the 5th round was his as was a disputed round early on. Making it 7-5 or 6-6, even up to a point early on Merchant even had one round a draw.
No reason to use obscenities my friend as I am not making excuses. It was close but Hopkins stole the fight by 1 round.
Very true, In my defense I was blasted that night after the fight and if you were too see my previous posts I don't usually post using obscenities. My apologies. :D
I still don't agree with your judging. IMO, Hopkins only won about 4 rds but, this argument can go on forever.
I didn't see the fight.
From what I've heard...it doesn't sound like any kind of "robbery" took place.
Sounds like one guy edged the other, no matter who you think had the edge...
I'll watch it this Saturday night.
For not seeing the fight your analysis is dead on, I will be curious for your take after you have seen it.
Neither Taylor or Hopkins could bitch if they lost, a tale of two fights.

HOW THE HELL CAN U GIVE THAT
plz post ur scorecard....
honestly, i want to c that.
fine u have to land them n shit, but thts a counter puncher.... taylor was the agressor all night until round 10.
Aggression alone doesn't win fights. Counterpunchers never get the benefit when the other guy is aggressive. I'm not the only one who thought Hopkins won 116-112. The majority of press row had Hopkins winning 116-112, some even 117-111 others 115-113. Defense and ring generalship have alot to do with scoring fights. Taylor was following Hopkins all night long and fighting at Hopkins pace. Taylor even admitted to doing it. Ring generalship is when a fighter is controlling his opponent and the fight which is what Hopkins did. Hopkins made Taylor come to him not the other way around. Then in the later rounds when Hopkins came forward and was agressive he still controlled Taylor by backing him and landing punches. Hopkins was effective when making Taylor come to him and he was effective when he was the aggressor. The same can't be said for Taylor.
Hopkins won that fight 116-112. When you throw punches you have to land them the way Hopkins countered Taylor all night. I had it just like Duane Ford with 4 rounds a piece after 8.
You're either stoned or blind.

There is no way that he was robbed. Hopkins was behind 5-1 after the first 6 rounds so I don't know what you are talking about.
IMO taylor won trhe first 8/9.. or 7/9, then hopkins took the rest
=7-5
115-113 taylor
plz read --> my thoughts on HOPKINS VS TAYLOR
first off great fight.
2ndly, for those who said that hopkins does not belong with hagler n hearns n SRL, R WAY off. he made 20 straight defences, no one can do that.
with that being said hopkins started off to slow. i had it 4-2 after 6. in the last 6 rounds, taylor took the first 3, n hopkins easily swept the last 3.
ye hopkins did wobble him in the 10th n 11th, but taylor wobbled him in the 2nd..... that dont mean shit.... he didn't finish the job. im not a diehard fan of either, but i dont hate either. i have respect for both.
sum1 said on this board, when the guy turns around, it means he doesn't want to fight. well hopkins was holding him.
i can c a draw, but i can't c hopkins really winning the fight.
guys r saying hopkins got robbed.... NO WAY. wasn't a robbery.
if they gave it to hopkins, u could say taylor go robbed tho.
for those of u who thought hopkins won, post ur scorecard, i want to c them. and also, if u thought hopkins won, honestly, who were u rooting for tho?
heres my scorecard

I have noticed their are no middleweights with Zab Judah or pacquiaos fighting style why is that?
I guess there is just none around at this time. Pacquiao's style is a little guys style in my opinion. There aren't too many bigger guys who can keep up that kind of pace. None that I have seen right now. Well actually Ouma can keep up that pace.
They fear his sneaky righthand because he keeps landing it a will and it snaps thier head back. Taylor and Pacquiao are two different fighters. Taylor wasn't all that much faster than Hopkins the way Pacquiao was against Barrera so that wouldn't work. Plus he wasn't landing as many punches as Pacquiao was either. The only way Taylor is knocking Hopkins out is if he catches him sleeping which more than likely won't happen.

Taylor did more but he fought scared! but he won more rounds by throwing and landing a few jabs! if taylor fought aggressive like roy jones said he should have , he would have won since hopkins uses INTIMIDATION! to win its obvious they need a brave guy to demolish hopkins, hopkins aint invincible...It is funny on the pound for pound list they even said hopkins would have extreme trouble with someone with ZAB Judahs or Manny pacquiaos speed and style and over aggressive style...how come no middleweight fights him this way? TRINIDAD fought hopkins stupid as well he fought mad and careless...they all fear his sneaky right hand why? do you think it is intimidation? Taylor better knock him out in the rematch if he wants to be someone he needs to win A good fight with no fear!
What I also notice is that taylor didnt continue punching! you gotta impose your will on an opponent and that is what HOPKINS does best. Taylor threw a couple punches and then stopped just like dela hoya haahah they should have kept punching like how Pacquiao demolished BArrera impose your youth on him and make him fight your fight!
Thats why I think WINKY WRIGHT would have whooped HOPKINS so badly! I would put my money on that too! he would have schooled hopkins with that peeka boo style.
