Does anybody believe that just because boxing will be on network television that the sport will thrive in our eyes, the people that visit these websites, do ESPN Friday chats, read obscure articles by Steve Kim and Co.
I have no doubt that everybody will know who Pacquiao, Cotto, Juanma Lopez are...but the average viewer who watches CBS or any other network channel isn't gonna know whether there watching a good match. For God's sake, Pacquiao can draw in millions and millions of ratings on Showtime PPV, but it means absolute sh*t if it's a f-cking Pacquiao-Margarito rematch or Mosley vs Chavez Jr. Two top 3 JWW's are fighting this Saturday, both undefeated, both in their prime and yet virtually no one outside the aficionado will know about it. The only hope is that the casual fan finds out who Pacquiao is and then becomes a full fleged boxing fan who can make up his own fcking mind on what's a good match and not what Greenburg, Schaefer or Arum feed us.
I think its the sort of thing that most commonly happens in boxing...ego's get in the way. I think Wlad's always been irritated that a bit more exciting black British fighter jumps up in weight and people are all chanting Haye's name whereas Wlad's ruled the division for a couple of years and never got the enthusiasm that most people showed for Haye when he stepped up. Remember boxing is a mental game up to the first bell and Wlad doesn't wanna give anything away, its basically giving into Haye's demands. But if Wlad wanted to show he was the bigger dude, he shouldve just said, "fck it, ill wait till july" and see if Haye was bluffing or not. either way, the fans are again royally screwed.

The Gatti-Mayweather fight, he was play by play-ing the fight and breaking it down that even the casual fans (which I was at the time of the fight) could understand, and I did. Even with the Pac-Morales I fight, he was talking about how Morales was putting Pac in his place in front of his people and taking him out of the fight and that it was swaaying in Morales' favor. Merchant tries to dismiss by saying in his token drunken tone, "well its too early in the fight" and Jones tell him that if he ever boxed, he would know how it felt. theres a YT vid out there.

This is just what Arum is doing, he's gonna milk Cotto in June in a worthless Margarito rematch and then possibly feed him to Pacquiao again, then we'll see (unfortunately a shot) Cotto vs Chavez Jr. and people will praise him. I am glad at the very least that the writer mentioned that the people exposed to the national audience aren't the best boxers.

Right now there throwing out that one Paul Spafadora into the mix, I just saw one of his recent fights, he sucks, but if it'd be a tuneup fight then whatevs. I think Malignaggi would most likely be the target, they trash talk, GBP promotes Paulie, it would be an okay fight...again for a tune-up, though it wouldn't do as well (money wise) as even the Marquez fight so Floyd would need to fight someone after that and thats when we starting crossing our fingers. If Berto or M. Hatton weren't gonna fight in the upcoming months then those would be two good fights, but eff it.
