AMIR Khan has vowed to become the king of the light-welterweight division by the end of the year.
Khan defends his WBA world title against New Yorker Paulie Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden here on Saturday night.
And he is convinced it will take him a huge step nearer to becoming the undisputed top dog in the division.
Although he faces fierce competition, the 23-year-old declared confidently: “By the end of the year I know I’ll be at my peak and be No.1.” Click Here To Read More]
What champion did alexander beat to win his title?
oh thats right it was vacant.
What champion did maidana beat to win his title?
oh thats right he lost to kotelnik the "weakest champion"
hahaha true, very true
I think he has the style to beat Bradley. Bradley punches pretty wide and is vulnerable to straight shots up the middle which Amir provides. I actually think Alexander would be a tougher fight.
I think Khan should fight a big puncher next, Maidana or Hatton. The Hatton fight would be enormous in the UK, a lot of money in it for both of them. But as a fan of Khan, I'd like to see him fight, and KO, Maidana. That would shut up all the haters.
After that I think he should fight Alexander. I truly believe he can stop Alexander, he's certainly got the power and speed. With Freddie in his corner he could outbox him too.
After that, unification with Bradley :D
It's not his style that's in question, it's that glass jaw. What's Freddie doing for that? Is he running around the block on his face? I've seen what happens to his style when he gets hit and these guys aren't going to miss all night. This isn't hate, it's just an observation, thats why he's fighting feather fisted fighters.
All he needs to do now is back up all that talk
Doubt it. I think Bradley is too good for him. Devon is still a little green to me, but so is Khan. He has a title, but he beat the weakest dude for it. You have to be good to win a title, but he still beat the weakest dude. Maybe he will rise to the occasion, but I haven't seen anything that says that...My dos pesos.
please, you didnt even look impressive against a shot ass barrera still wondered what wouldve happened if he didnt head but him, bradley and alexander would ko this clown, all hype I dont buy it at all.
"You have to know the best time to have these big fights in your career. If you look at Oscar De La Hoya, he fought all the best fighters when they were on the way downhill, and not at their best. I want to catch these guys when they have come off their peak. But I have to be careful because there might be a younger version of me coming up who wants to do exactly the same to me." Amir Khan, GQ Magazine
this guys is running his mouth, if he beats Paulie he better be able to back it up and not punk out and make all type of excuses as to why he is not fighting Bradley or Alexander
Today, tomorrow, 5 weeks from now, 6 months from now.... who cares?
Khan won't beat any of those guys no matter how much time passes.
The fact that he admits he isn't ready now but thinks he will be ready in 6 months after beating up some featherfisted also ran shows exactly how stupid and out of touch with reality is. What is he gonna learn against Pauli that will get him by Bradley, Maidana or Alexander? Nothing and you know it. What is the 2 months of rest afterward going to do for him? Nothing and you know it. What is 4 more months of training gonna matter against someone who knows your chin is softer than sh*t? Nothing and you know it.
The fact that you buy into this garbage doesn't reflect well on you.
Also, if you think Khan's chin is better at 140 then you are in for a rude awakening. The guy is the most fragile boxer I have ever seen in my life. Pauili may only have 5 KO's but I bet you the 5 guys he knocked out had better chins than Con.
If Khan would have been 140 against Prescott do you actually think he would have taken those punches and come back to win?
My nemesis :p Always with good and strong points :)
later this year is his target. If he feels he still isn't ready then he will say it again.
Yes Paulie has no punch but he's also a difficult guy to beat. If Khan does excellent and doesn't get hit, then I'll say he can learn and get better by 1 year.
Paulie is fast and accurate.
Yes his chin is very bad, I know that but I feel that everything has helped improve him because at 140 he can make wait more comfortably but also he has built his fight night body more symetrically.
It is not a cure for a bad chin but a slight solution to help.
At 135 and Harrision, he was not the same fighter.
He was too offensive and open.
Right now, Khan beats Prescott.
POsting this because BBP always misleads with his titles.

Although he faces fierce competition, the 23-year-old declared confidently: “By the end of the year I know I’ll be at my peak and be No.1.”
He is also not frightened of seeking clashes with the men dominating the light-welterweight category.
Timothy Bradley (WBO belt holder), Devon Alexander (WBC and IBF) and the impressive Marcos Maidana are all on his radar.
He said: “I repeat, that I think by the end of this year I can be number one in this division and beating the likes of Timothy Bradley and the big names is what I want.
“I’d say that people probably think Bradley is the number one. He is more experienced, he’s had more fights and he’s older.
“But every fight I’m getting better and before you know it I’ll be on the same level as those guys.
“I know I have the style to beat them. And, after beating guys like Bradley, you go to a level where you are fighting guys like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley – so it can happen quickly.”
Khan has lost just one of his 22 pro fights, to *Colombian Breidis Prescott in September 2008 in a shock first round KO.
But, since then, he has won four on the bounce, including the WBA title triumph. He puts much of the credit down to the influence of his trainer Freddie Roach, who has transformed him into a better all-round boxer.
Khan said: “I worked with him around 2005 when I first went to America.
“Seeing what he has done with world-class fighters like Manny Pacquiao, I thought he could do the same with me if I stayed focused and worked hard.
“Then I looked at the whole picture – he’s got the experience, he’s been in the ring himself, he’s a good coach and he’s had 24 world champions.
“I was his 25th and he has really helped my game – probably using my brains, picking the right shots at the right time and not rushing in.
“I used to fight using the heart, being aggressive and I’d think I could knock anyone down, but I had a good boxing brain and never used to use that.
“He is a brilliant trainer. I think everyone can see the change since I’ve been with Freddie – I’m like a different fighter.”
great read!
Hahahahahahahahahaha oh Kahn how you gonna beat two dudes that do everything better then you lol come on. Prove yourself against malignaggi and maybe they will let you be a sparring partner, leave the boxing up to the big boys
Exactly what he just said! LOL Too damn funny and actually real.
Khan is a fraud. Yes he has great skills and speed, blah blah blah. Problem is that in the sport of boxing being able to take a punch is the most important skill to have.
The chances of Khan beating Bradley, Maidana or Alexander are about the same as the chances that Jimmy Johnson can win the Sprint Cup driving a car that only has 3 tires.

YEAH !! WAR KHAN :boxing:. Amir said that he wants to be the no.1 in the 140 division, he therefore has to fight the likes of Bradley, Alexander or Maidana. This is great news but just watch how them haters are gonna hate on Amir yet again.
Haters will be here in 3...2...1...
Not a hater just more than a casual fan. Khan will get KTFU and outclassed by both Bradley and Alexander. It wouldn't matter if Jesus Christ himself was his trainer. Get real....LOL I will even go so far as to say Maidana will beat him as well. I'm actually hoping and praying he fights one of these guys.

Amir Khan has the style to beat Bradley if Bradley is stupid enough to fight the fight at distance and fight Amir Khan's fight. Khan's game is suited to fighting shorter men where he uses his reach and size advantage and his fast hands to move in fire his shots and if anything comes back cover up and run out of the way and start again. That is his style and he is very good at it and Bradley is short .
Khan has woefull infighting skills and if Bradley takes the fight to the inside which he will be planning to do Khan will be at a huge disadvantage and will be KOd. The fight is much more likely to go this way.
Much has been made about Khan's improvement with Roach. All I see is that he has got better at his hit and hop it style but I have seen no improvement in his infighting skills and he is still too square on and does not cover up when firing his salvos and has a style that is asking for a left hook which is his nemises.
I feel of a lot of his "I am going to beat X" comments are a combination of publicity and trying to convince himself that he can do it. Inside he knows he is no match for Bradley or Alexander and real boxing fans know it. Untill the Bradley fight is signed as with much that comes out of Team Khan his claims have to be seen as his usual hype, hot air and bluster. Khan is a joke . I wish he would just shut up ,not duck and take real fights instead .
