Michael Moorer and Evander Holyfield were natural heavyweights.Saying Holyfield isn't a natural heavyweight is like saying Ali or Joe Louis weren't natural heavyweights. The guys fill out and gain weight as they come up in the sport.
Michael Moorer was a huge light heavyweight,it's quite remarkable that he managed to make that weight for as long as he did.No way in hell did he make that weight without great difficulty.
Not really that successful at Heavyweight but I was always impressed with the punching power of Herbie Hide. Also Dwight Muhammad Qawi has to be the shortest heavyweight ever. Watching him fight Foreman was weird.
Floyd Patterson, grant it he had a chinny chin chin, but the man was a middleweight KO'ing natural heavies.
He was no more a Middleweight KO'ing natural Heavies than Pacquiao is a Flyweight KOing natural Welters. What weight you start at when you are very young is irrelevant. Patterson was a natural Cruiserweight by the time he fought at Heavyweight (and there was no Cruiserweight division back then, so he was a natural Heavyweight in the context of his time).
Fighters who were natural lightheavyweight or cruserweight who had success at heavyweight
Why has no one mentioned Ezzard Charles? He was by far the best of the Light Heavyweights who moved up, and the first to be a lineal Heavyweight champion. Archie Moore, another ATG Light Heavyweight, also had a very respectable career at Heavyweight. And Jersey Joe Walcott would have been a natural Cruiserweight if there had been a Cruiserweight division back then.
The Real Deal
Michael Moorer
Michael Spinks
Chris Byrd
David Haye
ALL held a portion of the HW crown...props to those dudes(fukk Haye tho)....Roy was one and done at the weight so I didnt include him....but his historic win at the weight MUST be mentioned....that was big!!.....Adamek IMO is the NEXT lil' man to make his point at HW....for some strange, odd and crazy reason I think Adamek can get over on Vitali and there's no doubt in my mind that he'll beat Haye....Wlad would play chess with him for 10 rounds and then checkmate his ass after a inspirational one minute speech by Manny Steward :lol1:....I like Adamek ALOT as a fighter, its something about dude :boxing:
