he was moved up because branco is fighting cotto for the WBO belt next month. whitter looked awful in his last fight, he would'nt go 4 rounds with mayweather.
very sad news, i also thought he might pull through after the statement from debilla. condolences to his family and friends, and also to jesus chavez, tony weeks and margeret goodman, who must feel like shit right know. lets also hope his family are taken care of by the suits who control the money in boxing.
RIP.
so hussien's only losses came against pac and larios, which means he's a 122lb fighter moving up to fight the strongest guy in the division. don't see this going long. naz used to do the same thing, trying to look good against smaller men.
very true mate, pac made the jump from 122 to 126 very well, i think he's too heavy at 130 though. hussien fought larios last year i think, but even if he's "bedded in" at 126 i still don't see it lasting long. whatever harrison's limitations as a boxer, he's as strong as a bull at the weight.
even though the signs are'nt good, i hope he pulls through. i don't think anyone can critisize the ref or margeret goodman. he was responsive to every question put to him during the fight according to goodman. hindsight is 20/20.
according to freddie roach green went to the wild card looking for sparring and was told the only guy available was toney, so he starts calling toney out in the middle of the gym! toney did'nt show for a couple of days but when he did, green got in with him.
i think green had a lot of balls doing it, i spar with a guy 20lb heavier than me and it bloody hurts!
i depends how easy corrales makes weight. if he struggled also then the advantage is with castillo because after he failed the first time he went away and came back HEAVIER, so he knew he had no chance of making 135lb and winning the fight.
having watched the fight, and they both weighed similar come fight time (chico a little heavier), i think the difference was castillo's hand speed. it seemed quicker than chico's, and castillo was able to catch chico with counter left hooks and right hands at will. it was a sweet counter left hook that finished the fight.
roll on no.3!
he did'nt look too bad at the weigh-in. toney will win, guinn's heart has'nt been in the sport for a year or two now. even if he was motivated, toney is still in a different league to guinn. looks like he'll fight byrd for the IBF belt, if chris wins tonight.
while i'm a big fan of augustus, who is waaaay better than his record suggests, he is'nt a big enough puncher to stop cotto marching forward, plus augustus (damn burton was easier to type)! is a couple of weight divisions north of his best weight imo. cotto would be to big and powerful for him. he would give cotto nightmares for a few rounds, though.
calzaghe injures his hands cos he don't throw correct punches, he was slapping in the first 2 rounds. if you don't ball your fist right you're gonna get injured. a guy who's had 40 fights and he don't punch correctly? please.
i'm bound to agree, but robinson really was the best fighter who ever lived, what makes that second fight with randy turpin all the more special was that ray had a bad cut over his eye and was in danger of being stopped because of it, but the ref gave him the 10th and he finished it. speed, balance, power, chin. no-one comes close.
karma sent. i don't care what anyone on this forum says. if boxing is still arounds in a 1000 years, robinson will still be the best who ever lived. a truly great fighter in a truly great era.
i think he's got "sparring partners mentality", he has been a sparring partner for some top hw's over the years, including lewis, and tends to adopt that mindset of employee in the ring.
this has the makings of a good heavyweight fight. rock looked good against meehan, but barrett is a step up from him. if rachman is on his game he'll win, but he's sleepwalked through fights before and if he does it saturday barrett will beat him.
juyjuy, i spar with a guy who trains at neville browns gym in burton, his name is mark sherry, he's only had a handful of amateur fights but he's sparred with alot of good fighters including brown, shaun cummins and johnjo finighan, do you know him? he's a great bloke and is teaching me alot.
i think lacy is too quick and powerful for calzaghe at this stage in joe's career. calzaghe has been in the comfort zone for years and he's gonna get a rude awakening when lacy hits him.
it is'nt the card that sucks, it's PPV itself that's wrong. you pay for HBO in the states the same as we pay for SKY in england, then you pay again for anything half-decent. just don't buy it. if they think they can get away with tyson/mcbride as PPV then it's open house is'nt it?
it was ottke/reid all over again. even with the points off no way abraham won that fight. he was very brave to carry on with a broken jaw but even before that he was doing very little to win rounds. it has to be said if that was in any other country miranda would have won the fight, in terms of boxing germany is the most corrupt country in the world. the headbutt was intentional and i've no problem with the 2 points for that, but what happened after was very fishy, abraham was shaking his head and pointing to his jaw like he was'nt going to carry on, and the time it took before they carried on was a disgrace. the "low blow" in the 11th was on the beltline and should'nt been a point off. even the rounds where miranda got deducted abraham did'nt win the round so it should have been 9-9 at worst. terrible.
mosley would'nt have lasted 8 rounds with a prime duran, along with benny leonard and sweetpea he was the best 135lb'er in history. great video, thanks for putting it up.
i'd rather watch him train than go to one of his fights. his fights were always freakshows, full of people who did'nt know about boxing or were fans but went cos it was tyson. in the gym, hitting the pads or sparring, that was the real tyson.
i've said it before, anyone who thinks peter will land one of his hail mary, see em a million miles off shots on a defensive master like toney is'nt going to enjoy saturday night. toney will do what he always does and take the nightmare to school.
he wasted his talent, but kirkland laing was the best fighter of his era, but he'll not be remembered like lewis or hamed cos he did'nt win world titles. but i'll never forget him.
