Sugar Ray Robinson beat Fritzie Zivic his 2nd year in the ring..
84-0 as a amateur and a win over Willie Pepp
Had like over 30 1st round KO's..
Had a decision win over Armstrong....He said he could've knocked him out, but took it easy on him, because that was his childhood hero..Armstrong even said Robinson prime for prime would've beat him....
5 wins over Jake Lamotta
Sam Angott
Destroyed Randy Turpin
A 3rd round KO over Rocky Graziano, beating the shit out of him!
Would've beat Max Baer if it wasn't SO hot that night...
A OUT of prime Robinson (who had a fever) beat Basilio..
Also KO'd Fullmer with a beautiful left hook
And the loss to Jake LaMotta WAS a Welterweight against a Middleweight, Ray was weighing high 140's I think and Jake was like high 150's if I remember.
so? SRR should have tons of people around his balls, he deserves them,
haha. Thats classic.

Sugar has a wins over Kid Gavilan and Jose Basora.
Basora's strong finish left some of the crowd feeling he deserved the verdict. Draw, than in their rematch 6 years later, Ray KO'd him in 1. Basora also fought Jake LaMotta with 1 W, 1D, 2L...
A win post Maxim fight isn't legitamite....
I forgot Gavilan!!!
Just to let you knkow, at the time when Robinson started losing so much and was WAY out of his prime, he said in his biography that he lost a fight to a mexican mailman in Tijuana....funny stuff but sad..
I'm not being harsh. I see some names in this thread that like to throw around the word "nuthugger".
I see a whole bunch of SRR ball fondling right now.

Don't be harsh, man, any time people get a boxing education that's a good thing.

I believe you have mistaken Max Baer for Joey Maxim, who Robinson challenged for the lt. heavyweight crown.
oops, my bad..
You know what I meant though..
They had to change the referree because it was SO hot...after that fight he took a 2 year lay off...then he was broke and fought more fore money...
Would've beat Max Baer if it wasn't SO hot that night...

A very nice tribute to the greatest fighter of all-time. This video reaffirms my believe that he, along with Joe Louis, was the greatest combination puncher to ever live. Utterly brutal, yet beautiful and mesmorizing to watch.
Like the other guys were moving in slow motion - the only other footage I've seen of SRR is some hilights from his fights with LaMotta, and those are equally impressive (although he had to work alot harder to win those...)
Seeing Robinson box is like seeing an artist go to work. There is a real aesthetic to his punches. So fluid, so smooth, and so beautiful. If only we had some footage of him as a welterweight, when he was in his absolute prime.
I do wish someone would make a similar clip with Joe Louis. He was another fighter who was a treat to watch.
karma sent. i don't care what anyone on this forum says. if boxing is still arounds in a 1000 years, robinson will still be the best who ever lived. a truly great fighter in a truly great era.
Why is everyone acting like this is news?
LOL.
LOL!
I know!
I mean he was good, don't get me wrong, but some of the people need to stfu....they're acting homo right now.
Well personally I still rate Joe Louis as the best I've seen, and ofcourse there was Joe Gans, Joe Walcott, Sam Langford, Jimmy Wilde, Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb.. but Sugar Ray Robinson was maybe the first boxer who was really great to watch, flash in and out of the ring, but there are many more cats who are candidates for best of all-time.
Joe Louis was the greatest heavyweight in my opinion, but Sugar Ray Robinson has to be the greatest P4P. He had it all.
