Also KO'd Fullmer with a beautiful left hook And the loss to Jake LaMotta WAS a Welterweight against a Middleweight, Ray was weighing high 140's I think and Jake was like high 150's if I remember.

Sugar has a wins over Kid Gavilan and Jose Basora. Basora's strong finish left some of the crowd feeling he deserved the verdict. Draw, than in their rematch 6 years later, Ray KO'd him in 1. They had to change the referree because it was SO hot...after that fight he took a 2 year lay off...then he was broke and fought more fore money...

A very nice tribute to the greatest fighter of all-time. This video reaffirms my believe that he, along with Joe Louis, was the greatest combination puncher to ever live. Utterly brutal, yet beautiful and mesmorizing to watch.

Like the other guys were moving in slow motion - the only other footage I've seen of SRR is some hilights from his fights with LaMotta, and those are equally impressive (although he had to work alot harder to win those...)

Seeing Robinson box is like seeing an artist go to work. There is a real aesthetic to his punches. So fluid, so smooth,and so beautiful. Well personally I still rate Joe Louis as the best I've seen, and ofcourse there was Joe Gans, Joe Walcott, Sam Langford, Jimmy Wilde, Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb.. but Sugar Ray Robinson was maybe the first boxer who was really great to watch, flash in and out of the ring, but there are many more cats who are candidates for best of all-time. Joe Louis was the greatest heavyweight in my opinion, but Sugar Ray Robinson has to be the greatest P4P. He had it all.
