No one. He will land the right eventually. It's sick.
If they are not out then they will be within a minute.
If you try to open up on him and scrap he will eventually land so you have to box him stay away for 12 rds. There is no one in todays generation who can do that. ALI, Holmes, Lewis could do that. Tyson 87 would get inside early and KO him like he did all his taller opponents. Vital Klits would beat him. Wlad Klits would get blitzed out cold. Mercer could take his shot and then hurt him. Bowe would out jab him and tie him up for 12 rounds using his size. Holyfield would be winning then eventually be dropped by the bomb. This guy may not be slick but he's an animal he's tough and he knocks you out. You can't ***** about that.
No, Spanish speaking irish guy whooped you twice, we want you fight Jermall Charlo & Demetrius Andrade, I will pay the PPV :439:
Don't care who fight. I not the same guy but still beat Irish guy. Press around World confirmed except for people who kiss red booty. No need to compete against judges and cement skull, and Mexican meat, waist of time. He wait for me to get older. He parently too light to face me before now fight at big big heavier real weight against other old Russian. I no respect double standard and Mexican meat cheating. Irish guy mad at me for expose truth and facts. Guys guys, you see he red headed step child who spoiled. Too bad, he great fighter, but i no respect. He create drama show in life, I make drama show in ring.
In any other sport an athlete that competes at the highest level we give them praise. In soccer no one talks about who's better prime for prime. We always mention how good a players is over several years of his career. Consistency matters. Roy jones jr at 35 was getting koed cold by journeyman. Leonard was done late 30's. Ggg after being ducked for 10 years still competes at the highest level at 37. It's extremely rare for a fighter who's had several amateur fights to still compete as a top pro at 37.
You guys can say i'm making excuses but facts are facts. The all time greats get a pass for losing to bums but ggg at 37 still has to ko everyone, can't have tough fights and he's been exposed? LET ME GUESS. GGG AT 40 IS STILL IN HIS PRIME RIGHT? Wtf is that?
Great point especially with the Leonard and Jones examples.
Warrior, I guess but he is running from Mall & Boo Boo. K.O. artist against weak opponents, absolutely. Great guy, we don't really know.
He IS a diva crying like a b!tch after Nelo whoops him. Respectful to who? Not the dude that whooped him that's for sure :lol1: Puts the fans 1st?? Absolutely NOT. WE WANT Jermall Charlo AND Demetrius Andrade!!
Guys Guys please. I put on exciting fight every time. You not happy person. I past prime and still beat spanish speaking Irish guy.
I appreciate this fight even more. Looking forward to the next one. And hopefully the last for the most exciting and inspirational fighter of the last 2 generations. And it will never be the same again
It makes you realize how these commentators influence the eb and flow of a fight. Boring commentators shouldn't be allowed to be in big fights. I'm calling you out Joe Goossen and Lenox Lewis.
Goosen and Lewis are OK. They don't annoy me. Goosen is a great guy and Lewis is a legend. It's DAZN's very own "latin snake" who I can't stand. He says a dumb thing at the wrong time in every fight. Bring back Lampley and Roy!!!!
I think Banks stinks and is a stupid person and a lousy trainer and GGG should get a new better trainer. Banks seemed to blame GGG for not doing better by following his instructions. Worst yet he goes public praising the hell out of Dervy and trashing his own boxer. He said the score should have been closer and damn near said he thought Dervy won. It's OK for him to think that but he should keep those thoughts to himself. A good trainer supports his boxer and never goes public saying he thinks his boxer lost or came close to losing. He always says his boxer did well and deserved the win by the amount he won or more even if he doesn't really believe it. I have never heard a trainer praise the other boxer so much and say his fighter fought poorly and should not have won by the amount he did and maybe even should have lost. Never. GGG should fires this guy now. He doesn't need to pay a trainer to tell the world he is no good and just lost a fight he won.
I was stunned at Banks' comments. He praised Dervy more when his own guy made it hell for Dervy too. Banks did nothing during the fight. He needs to go. Accurate analysis of technique, power and adjustments. Banks adds nothing and added nothing.
Yes, I remember him. His name was Norman Stone. Roy Jones, Jr trainer Alton Merkerson cold cocked him at a final press conference leading up to the John Ruiz heavyweight bout.
Yes Norman Stone. What a miserable loud mouth trouble maker. It was as though Lampley and company loved saying his name everytime he loudly complained. He was cold ****ed and still that didn't shut his mouth. I feel sorry for his children if he was a father or his wife if some woman stayed married to the guy.
he's making excuses and wants the third fight..
i imagine he preffered to lose in order to perhaps get the third fight, anyway.
put on weight to have an excuse ready..all part of the strategy.
I wouldn't give him a third fight. Joshua should not fight the guy who has his number, has better hand speed and the way better chin. He's all wrong. We saw that in New York. Joshua has everything to lose. Thank God that he came in fat and slow moving unable to capitalize when he hurt Joshua. Ain't gonna be no rematch.
Of course he won it. He has all that power, money and influence behind him and his team is a master at cherry picking and still making him look like a fearless dare devil. He was a 4 to 1 betting favorite over Jacobs and almost 5 to 1 favorite over Kovalev.
Great team surrounding him making the right decisions and fighting the right opponents at the lowest point of their careers. Looks great on paper and he generates the most coin thanks to being the right heritage so might as well make him FOTY
His sparring partner Hunter claims Ruiz gained all the weight during the last two weeks before the fight, when he went to Saudi Arabia. He must have been eating like an absolute pig to gain 20lbs in two weeks though.
People were worried he was going to come in too light and would lose some power and chin. How the h@ll can that happen in 2 weeks and why? That's what confused me. If he came in lighter he would have cut off the ring, and would have landed more or could have landed a bigger shot after tagging Joshua. Still not getting why he would gain the weight after losing it
Best KO and best win of the decade. Roided punch does not make fighter of the decade. Other than Manny he's nothing, not a PPV cash cow like Canelo, no big name wins. Before I get attacked let me be clear he was great he was tough and a beautiful counter puncher. Not knocking the guy but he didn't make waves in anyway other than the roided up punch that he never had at his real fighting weight.
Boxing is one of the only sports in which pseudoscience reigns supreme. There is no other athlete other than a sumo wrestler that would benefit from more fat on their body. Everyone that said that Ruiz would be weaker with less fat on his body is an idiot. Less fat means less weight to carry around the ring for 12 rounds. If he would have came in at 250,he could have still been chunky, but it would have been the difference of him trying to box with a small child on his shoulders. Fat doesn't make you absorb a hit to the chin better, nor does it provide any benefits other than keeping you warm during the winter. Ruiz lost the fight long before that night in the desert, and he sunk himself deeper with every plate he scarfed down.
His body type and thickness helps him absorb to some degree, it gives a solid foundation and it helps him plant but sloppy fat is another story. Thickness helps but fat is bad period. If he came in at 245 he would have cut off the ring and could have tired Joshua with pressure, then landed big later in the fight. Coulda woulda shoulda when you come in fatter. But I give Joshua props the jab was great and he tied up fatty when he landed and hurt him. He fought a great fight.
It started with 1 photo that looked like he had lost a bit of weight. Who knows if that photo was even real or it could've just been taken at the perfect angle. Either way he obviously didn't train and spent all his time partying, while claiming he wouldn't in every interview.
While I feel like he would give AJ a real fight if he trained properly, I don't think he deserves another shot after defrauding the public like that. He is an absolute disgrace and should not be handed another pay day unless he proves himself with multiple fights and stays in shape.
Agreed. He blew an even bigger opportunity and even bigger opportunity afterward. Extremely disappointing. Now he will be ducked and rightfully so. He is dangerous.
He's as bad a Guerrero's father who's still complaining his son was robbed against Floyd. The worst ever is that guy who was in John Ruiz's corner. He was so annoying that he was even booted out of the arena. To this day that loud mouth still believes they got screwed in the Roy Jones fight
Ortiz is remarkably better than most of Larry Holmes opponents like Zanon, Scott Frank, Evangelista, Snipes, LeDoux, Leon Spinks, David Bey, Marvis Frazier, Tex Cobb, Lucien Rodriguez and on and on and on. So I disagree with that statement. Most people on this site don't know these names. They might know Leon spinks. Hard to believe these bums were ranked in the top 5 and got title shots. If Ortiz fought these guys he would KO them all and be top of the heep
He's not that big a deal. If he was he would have more viewers against anyone. If he had an exciting style and charisma there would be numbers. He's a good top 10 fighter who's boring. Carlos Palamino of the 20's kinda guy not a star but a good fighter.
Fought like a shot fighter who knew he had no power to offer and no reflexes to react. See Hopkins vs Joe Smith
Sugar Ray vs Camacho, Ali Holmes, Norton vs Cooney,
The best Light Heavy example was the great warrior Matthew Saad Muhammad vs some bum named Eric Winbush or Roy Jones vs Joe Calzahge. Canelo picked a name opponent with a belt and a reputation of being a Krusher who was easy pickings. The fight was a farce and that was exhibited in each strange round. Because the punching was so light it makes you wonder if someone was told to take it easy. Nevertheless Kovalev was shot in his last fight and it aged him besides the fact that he was concussed and had no time to rest the old fighters body for this pure money grab.
Crawford reminds me of Michael nunn. Now some of you may not be old enough to remember him being the best fighter in the world but he could have won a lot of his fight easily but then started to engage in a war for no reason. He was dominating Toney but then got complacent. The same in his fight with Curry. One day Crawford is gonna get hit with s punch he doesn’t see and it’s gonna put him out.
Good analysis. Sugar Ray wanted nothing to do with the Southpaw. All wrong for him so he ducked him. Nunn blew because of senseless exchanges. In Crawfords case he is just one tough mean SOB who can do it all. Kinda Hagleresque but I think unlike Nunn Bud will be smarter in the ring at the right time. He has great ring IQ
I totally agree
No interest whatsoever in a third instalment
Agreed. No interest in 3rd fight. All was discovered within 2 classic wars. The fight should have happened 2 years, even 3 years earlier but The aging slower Champ had something left to beat the prime young challenger as the vast majority agreed. The rematch proved that the young buck had the b@lls to take it to the champ but didn't do enough to get a clear victory. Results have been tainted by performance enhancing drugs, but the old guy can hang his hat and know he was legit. Time has passed. It's done.
36 year old slowed down, past prime GGG beat Canelo in the eyes of 90% of the boxing experts and boxing fans out there. Imagine a 30 year old prime GGG, jeez. Prime GGG totally murders a prime Canelo, thats not debatable. Ginger boy dropped his belt to and waited till GGG was at an age where Ginger himself wants to be long retired.
It blows me away that people can read that and STILL STILL INSIST Canelo won when they know deep down he lost to the past his prime champ. I guess everybody is stupid then because mostly everybody thought GGG was robbed
Well we all know who started this chit
Everyone following in the footsteps of Floyd
You know , wait out your opponent until you see some decline or something that favours you and hence the reason to actually fight that fighter
That is what boxing has become
And now they got two more dumb fughin reasons to do so ; either it’s a problem because of managerial reasons ( TMT won’t work with Top Rank ) or Dazn vs Espn
That is the sad state of boxing imo
Ray Leonard was the original when he publicly ducked Hagler in front of a crowd during a tribute to him at the Capital Center. Then he challenges Hagler 5 years later after he knows he's shop worn and near the end. It would have been Leonard being destroyed in 1985 but Hearns had the balls to face Marvin instead.
His first world title fight at 154. It was against Mattew Hatton... damn. At a 150 catchweight... that Canelo could not comply. So he missed weight after two attempts, and went on to win the title against an absolute nobody.
Defended it against Floyd and lost 11-1 in rounds. Even Chino Maidana did way better than him few months after that.
Came back to fight Angulo at 154, but couldn't make weight, so he had to pay Angulo and move the fight to 155.
From that moment, he spent two years fighting at 155. When he beat Miguel Cotto for the 160 MW belt, he chose to fight chinny welterweight Amir Khan, despite having the Golovkin fight ready for him. Amir Khan was no late replacement, he was chosen as voluntary defense, and he signed a document that he would fight Golovkin afterwards.
Right after the Amir Khan fight, he invites Golovkin to the ring, and tells him that he would put on the gloves right at that moment and fight him... that mexicans don't mess around. While fans insist that he should fight Golovkin, he proceeds to vacate the WBC 160 belt, and states that he is in fact a junior middleweight and won't fight at 160. He announces that he will fight for the 154 WBO title against Liam Smith.
Few weeks after the camp starts, he states on an interview that he's having issues with the weight, and that his ideal weight is 160. Contradicting what he had said the previous month.
At the same time, it is announced that his fight against Liam Smith will no longer have Vada testing. Only comission testing.
Alvarez is able to make weight after getting on the scales naked, and proceeds to KO the Englishman to conquer the 154 world title. He says in the post fight interview, that his team made an offer to Golovkin. Oscar de la hoya insists that Golovkin should accept a flat fee of 10 millions. After some media backlash, the next week ODLH says that the offer is actually for 15 millions. No one believes him ****.
Canelo then announces that he's moving up, and people get excited thinking that he will finally fight Golovkin. But he proceeds to fight Chavez jr at a 164.5 catchweight.
After beating Chavez jr, he announces the Golovkin fight. They gave Golovkin a split of about 30/70, which is what most people thought was reasonable since the first time. At this point Gomez (vicepresident of GBP) states that the fight was finally made because last year (2016) Canelo was not ready yet for Golovkin.
The fight happens and most fans, boxers, and media think Golovkin won a clear UD.
The rematch is signed and has to be cancelled because Canelo tests positive for Clenbuterol and is suspended for six months.
After the rematch happens, Canelo denies Golovkin of a trilogy stating that he doesn't want to fight him again.
That's all folks. I hope you guys remember these facts too.
All facts and we hear words like hater? Bizarre. Those who claim that these facts spew hate are exposing themselves as the actual haters. Not to mention delusional. They need to drop it for the same reasons Canelo dropped the LHW title.
I can agree with that
To late to old
GGG should be proud of his performances. To do as well as he did against a granite chinned hard to hit young bull, so late in his career should be praised. He came on strong in the championship rounds in the rematch. We all know if they fought 3 years earlier the first fight would have been even larger win for him. Personally I think it's Canelo who has to live with the fact that they waited for GGG to get old but still couldn't win big. Canelo is a great fighter and the face of the sport and now its time to move on to make more money in the easiest way possible. That's the name of the game, and I'd do exactly the same.
Man did you see the HUGE size difference between them when they did fight??? Want me to post pics???
And you wanted a SWW to fight a Grown BORN never left MW?? Three years sooner??? Like when Canelo was 23-24??? GTFO
He should have doubled his ROID intake.
