I've been seeing an overwhelming majority of people on the comment section in a youtube video of Badou Jack answering questions from a 'journalist' and casually responding that the fight looked fixed. And, it is not even close the amount of independent fans who outnumber Canelo supporters that agree wholeheartedly with Jack and are certain that the fix was in. I'd just like to see the
response here on Boxingscene.com not to antagonize, but to see if
the majority of fans on this site agree that this fight was suspect as a legitimate contest.
I think this could have very well been a fixed fight. Imagine what you would be willing to do for that much money. Kovalev never sat down of any of his punches, he fought like its a soft sparring. Canelo couldnt hurt a tiny Cotto not too long ago and now knocks out Kovalev.
I think Kov was paid to lose a decision but the greedy bas tard canelo saw a chance to KO him so he did. that is the only part of the plan that was altered

No! Kovalev is just old and father time has finally caught to him that's all. Canelo knew this in advance which was why he took the fight in the first place.
In addition, Sergei had been exposed as a soft fighter. Since when has the "Krusher" has ever been a back foot fighter; The answer is never?
Moreover, he should seriously ponder retirement. It's should be in the best interest of all those who claim to have his best interest at heart to do so.
One can stick a fork in his career. He is finished.
- -Kov #1 boxrec, #2 Ring.
Who stuck you with a fork?
I am not sure but it was very suspect looking fight and it looked like Kovalev wanted to make sure he didn't hurt Canelo. Nothing Kovalev threw at Canelo looked hard at all. There was no speed or snap or bodyweight behind any of his punches. Kovalev never threw a punch with bad intentions the whole fight or if he did I missed it. This from a guy known as the crusher. I didn't see him throw any punches that could crush a grape. Yhe KO was real. Canelo really blasted him with a very fast hard combination and knocked him out. It was Kovalev's soft punching that made me think the fight might have been fixed. I was worried about the fight being fixed before the fight. It all seemed so neatly planned out for cash cow Canelo to win by KO and get fighter of the year ans secade and be bigger than ever. Lots of powerful rich people in boxing absolutely did not want Kovalev to win because it would cost them millions in the future. These are people with tons of money to pay Kovalev enough to make sure he did not win. I cannot remember such an important fight in many years that so many people thought was fixed. Idon't think Kovalev tried to win the fight. It looked like Kovale made a deal not to try to win or even hurt Canelo at all. I can't prove it but I can answer your question and I don't think Kovalev fought to win.
That's a fair assessment and the way I look at it too. If there was a pre-fight plan for fighter A to not make his 100% effort to be healthy and win the fight, then that is the very definition of a scripted contest. Or, as the old timers called it, 'A FIX'
Not a fix at all. Just smart promoting. This is what we now get as fans. Canelo and Gervonta are following the same gameplan.
- -Canelo ain't drunk and pregnant and KOed by Boner.
Who fixed yer intelligence?
Fucckkin biased as noobs
Delete these biased ridiculous threads you lame racist fucckks know damn well nothing was “fixed” but since it’s a Mexican guy who whooped on you’re fellow euro guy you lame fucccks starts his nonsense.

I hate to admit it, but right when the ko happened I yelled out in excitement. And then I got a weird taste in my gut like something wasn't right. I immediately said that the fight was suspect.
I never accuse fights of being fixes, but this fight felt shady. I want to celebrate Canelo as the p4p king. What I saw didn't add up though.

Fight looked like a clear fix..It reminded me of Canelo vs Angulo. Angulo fought like someone had kidnapped his daughter and told him, "lose or else..."
I won't dump on Kovalev for securing that payday. But those pitty patty jabs and rear crosses without malice were too dang obvious.
if you don't train doesn't mean you won't throw as hard as always, it means you will get tired by the 3rd- 4th round. So when fighters don't train and they know it, they let everything go in those first rounds because they know if they don't get the other guy out of there then they will get tired and loose anyway.
Kova was holding his punches, this was fixed.
Kovalev must feel like sh/t seeing some fans saying it was fixed. His performance was so bad his fans/Canelo critics are saying it was scripted :lol1:
Dude probably feels like total sh/t.
Fought like a shot fighter who knew he had no power to offer and no reflexes to react. See Hopkins vs Joe Smith
Sugar Ray vs Camacho, Ali Holmes, Norton vs Cooney,
The best Light Heavy example was the great warrior Matthew Saad Muhammad vs some bum named Eric Winbush or Roy Jones vs Joe Calzahge. Canelo picked a name opponent with a belt and a reputation of being a Krusher who was easy pickings. The fight was a farce and that was exhibited in each strange round. Because the punching was so light it makes you wonder if someone was told to take it easy. Nevertheless Kovalev was shot in his last fight and it aged him besides the fact that he was concussed and had no time to rest the old fighters body for this pure money grab.

I think it was a soft fix, not a hard one.
A hard fix would be if Kovalev was paid to take a dive.
A soft fix is that Kovalev was targeted because he's past his prime and maybe didn't train as hard as he could have, because this is a cash out fight, which is why he failed to make weight the first time.
- -Only thing fixed are anthropoids slobbering on each other here.
Kov obviously staged his part of the weighin and was never "overweight" in the conventional sense, but he sure sparked them low IQs into a slobber fest twitter frenzy...Duh!
Not a fix at all. Just smart promoting. This is what we now get as fans. Canelo and Gervonta are following the same gameplan. Taking down old lions with big names. I wanna see Gervonta vs Loma - Haney - Stevenson AND Canelo vs Beterbiev - Smith - Andrade.
