No
If Pete Rose wasn't for gambling against his own team then neither shall a convicted rapist , wife beating , ear biting and aggravated assault felon like Iron Mike.
Sure on talent and accomplishements he probably dseserve it but the bad outweight the good as far as i'm concerned and it doesn't give a good exemple.
It's about sports acheivements. Not his personal life. Both are in separate categories. Might as well leave Jake Lamotta, George Forman, Rocky Graziano along with many more criminals out of it then. Mike Tyson was the youngest heavyweight of all time who unified the belts. That alone is Hall of fame status
So what you're saying is that he used the same wraps for previous fights??? Damn I know us Mexicans like to save money, but I didn't know wraps were that expensive,, oh wait let me guess maybe those wraps were his lucky charms??? By the way how does a boxer in a pro fight get blood in the wraps that are covered by 8oz gloves and sealed with tape??? lol
Ok now seriously, I'm not that naive to say he didn't use plaster in previous fights, what I'm saying is that there is no proof of him doing it, so we should drop that argument right now.
Easy my friend. You have plaster in your gloves means your knuckles will be hitting plaster everytime it makes contact. Try hitting concrete a few times with your bear hands and see how your knuckles look afters. It's a no brainer. You're in denile if you think he only tried it once. Once a cheater always a cheater.
I wonder how many people who watch fights see these things! For the boxers here, haven't you noticed that you see SOOO much more that goes on during a fight and the simple nuances that go unnoticed by casual fans...
I think from my experience of having fought as an amature, I do see and understand more that goes on in a fight. Especially when a fighter gets tired in there. I really understand how he's feeling and how hard it can be to keep up your hands just to protect yourself. So many tmes when I was sparring in the gym, I would get hit with a good body shot and do the old Arturo Gatti(R.I.P), protect my body and let them bash my face in untill I recuparated haha. Or as simple as when I see someone using angles. I see it much better now that I understand the game
Good boxer, no heart.
Couldn't of said it any better. When the going got tough, he didn't have the heart to pull through. But damn! His girlfriend or wife was a hottie. I remember him crying like a little girl ater everyone of his fights I saw. I was like wtf?
Did this video maker just invent new type of defense? Wtf is a triangle defense? Haha there is nothing unorthodox about it. He's keeping his hands up so his face doesn't get hit. Simpple boxing defense 101. I like pac but some people just take it to far. He has speed and when you have that against a slow flat footed fighter like marg, you can do anything in there..... "vertical jab" hahahahahahah man there really are some pactards out there
I don't think the video maker has been following boxing too long.
You're probably right. I wonder what kind of names he would come up with if he saw old fighters using the "turtle defense" or even the "peek a boo" style.
Yeah, cause it aint as though he isn't the fighter he was, they seem to get mad with him because he is not everything they! perceived him to be. How you gonna get made at someone cause you did'nt have the commonsense to take a step back and think, hang on a min, lets just take a look at the kids actual strengths and weaknesses before I start doing what Dan Rafael did, which was overrating him by claiming he had Floyd Mayweather type potential.
But he quit. how much more proof do you want? We're not hating for nothing. Holyfield did the same thing and I'm hating on him for that. He should retire if his heart is no longer in the game. I love the guy but there's no quitting in boxing period. The game is about heart and skill. Some make it on heart and others on pure natural talent. I love both and won't stand for dumb excuses. It's boxing not tennis.
Mike Tyson's resume kinda reminds me of the same reason people like to **** on Calzaghe. Meaning all the big names on his ledger are of old fighters on their way out.
I would argue Holmes is his best win but it was a Holmes close to 40.
Yet Mike Tyson always gets ranked so highly in Hw lists when he really fought a lot of bums in his prime along with old guys and a former light hw (spinks).
After losing to Douglass he went on to lose most of his "big" fights so aren't we being too kind to Tyson because of some sort of misplaced nostalgia about American hw boxing?
How about Trevor Berbick, James Smith and Michael Spinks. The 3 heavyweight champs at the time. You don't sh!t on any man who unifies the Titles. He knocked the sh!t out of 2 of those guys. What else do you want. Holmes talked a big game and paid the price for it. Old or not Tyson did what he had to do with an aging fighter. The man gets nothing but respect from me.
That I understand. I'm referring to certain boxing fans/mma haters who try to discredit MMA by stating how boxers make more money than UFC fighters, and how Dana White is robbing the fighters. To be honest, if boxing followed the same blueprint as UFC, it would be a much better sport. Especially for us fans. Now as stated in my first post, i'm a boxing fan before anything else, but it can be VERY frustrating being a fan at the same time. Now there's plenty of ways to bash mma/ufc, but one thing is for sure......those are some happy ass fans! They get the fights that are suppose to happen, and the best fight the best.
I feel the same way bro. I ordered the ufc tonight. First time ever. I have buddies coming over. The ufc fans are definitely more loud. As a boxing fan it makes me sad but like they say. "It always has to hit drop bottom before it starts getting better". It's to bad the money hungry promters are ruining the sport.
Was Berbick really any good? Same for Smith? And Micheal Spinks was a light heavyweight.
Its cool that he kttfo, but we gotta be objective about this.
Meaning, I think a prime Samuel Peter probably sparks all three of those guys out too.
So now we're back at square one.
Well to become champ you have to work your way up in the ranks. So obviously they were all good enough to become champion. Tyson just made them all look silly.
Samuel Peter is a fat non motivated big puncher. He loses steam after 4 rounds. I've been saying this since day one and people here laughed at me. What happened when he stepped up vs when Tyson stepped up? Tyson would of beat whoever they put in front of him in those years. That's the diference between a champion and a contender my friend.
But anyway I don't have a specific win I like. I like em all. I even like the way he lost(with the exception of the second holifeild fight). Other then that he always lost like a man should and didn't ***** out.
Sorry Dominicano, and Mexis, but he isnt even champion material.
You know. I like the kid. Champion or not this is what boxing needs. Guys who fight period..
I love this fight. Rios wins as Katsidis just doesn't have the steam to go 12 rounds. I like him but he dies out after 8 rounds or so and he doesn't have the power to get Rios out of there with one punch.
but still managed to win...
holy shiit... great fight.
looked alot like the marg/cotto fight except acosta didn't bow down like cotto
Hooly **** bro. Watch the fight again. Rios won a bunch of rounds. Especially the later rounds. Dictating the fight and knocking someone down is a round won for me. I don't know what you were watching.
Man I think big pressure is the way to beat him. I give Hatton a chance as he has good stamina and knows how to use his pressure fighting. Do you guys remember the Jesus Cjaves fight? He had Mayweather on the ropes all night. Only problem is he didn't have enough power or stamina to have any affect. And plus, Hatton vs Mayweather makes for a more entertaining fight then Mosley vs Mayweather
Man, no matter what happened, it would be an exciting fight because Hatton would make Mayweather fight. Shit, he retired the raning Jr. Welter in the world. Why wouldn't he have a chance agains Mayweather. A lot of pressure is the key to beating a slick boxer.
This way of thinking is kind of old school. If a fighter wins the round they should be awarded the round, regardless of who the champ is.
Well maybe old school thinking is where it should stay. Just try to imagine 2 Cory Spinks fighting eachother. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
if thats the case mayweather shouldnt of got the decision over de la hoya..
I only had Delohoya loosing by 1 point. And I didn't think Mayweather was lackluster in his performance. He didn't run and rab all the time
lol, you have to take the belt to win the title. Not run from them. Anyone who had Cory winning should rewatch the fight. Just make sure you don't fall asleep the second time around
that may be the stupidest thing ive ever read on this board. its BECAUSE of people like floyd that boxing isnt as popular. what did you hear from casual boxing fans after he fought DLH? and dont lie, you know the majority of people who are casual fans were saying, "that was boring and a dissapointment". not only that, Mayweather's public persona is unattractive and offensive to some people. thats something even HE knows which is why he did the Dancing With The Stars thing, but it really didnt do much. No one really cared and he was hardly talked about outside of the Boxing world. Unfortunately, in order for boxing to be a mainstream sport again, it needs more casual fans and casual fans dont want to see Mayweather. Ask around. I bet you anything that is the general consensus from the casuals.
You hit it right on the button. Anyone who doesn't understand the true science of boxing wants to see a brawl, slug fest or whatever you want to call it. That's one of the reasons why MMA has gained a lot of popularity. They don't really have a standup defence like smooth boxers do which means they slug when standing.
The clinching doesn't help boxing either. Nobody wants to see 2 guys hug for 12 rounds.
