If Pete Rose wasn't for gambling against his own team then neither shall a convicted rapist , wife beating , ear biting and aggravated assault felon like Iron Mike.
Sure on talent and accomplishements he probably dseserve it but the bad outweight the good as far as i'm concerned and it doesn't give a good exemple.
iron mike is a changed man. why you keep looking at him as a crimminal? that sh!t was like 20 years ago. Give it up. Change the channel its a new day. There is a new tyson
I am not so sure he changed, I mean he just assaulted a reporter in LAX not to long ago...but, having said that, he still should be in the HOF, for one reason, the IBHOF is not about the person's character but about the impact they had on boxing, that's it. Just as TIME magazine has dictators and terrorists as "the most influential people", IBHOF can have someone of Tyson's character (or lack of it) grace it's halls, because it's about boxing.
You forgot the most relevant fact about him : his use of elbows in his "missed" hooks .
Tyson actually hurt people more with his missed hooks than with his landed ones.
Your idiocy knows no boundaries.
As the youngest heavyweight champion, and a true living icon of the sport. The first to unify the heavyweight division. Yeah, he deserves it. His punishment for biting Holyfield's ear was paid, so he's in for the clear. As for the other stuff... That's no one's business but his.

It's about sports acheivements. Not his personal life. Both are in separate categories. Might as well leave Jake Lamotta, George Forman, Rocky Graziano along with many more criminals out of it then. Mike Tyson was the youngest heavyweight of all time who unified the belts. That alone is Hall of fame status
He's not gonna be a first ballot'er that's for sure, but it seems he'll be in there anyways.
uhhh, this was his first ballot, and yes, it has already been published that he is to be inducted.
