Miguel Cotto just beat Sergio Martinez, who beat Kelly Pavlick, who beat Jermain Taylor, who beat Bernard Hopkins, who beat Antonio Tarver, who beat Roy Jones, who beat John Ruiz, who beat Evander Holyfield, who beat Mike Tyson, who beat Larry Holmes, who beat Muhammed Ali, who was the greatest heavyweight ever, so obviously Cotto should fight Vladimir Klitschko.
Out of those possibilities, I would like to see Thurman fight FLoyd the most. I am looking forward to Crawfords growth over the next few years though, I think he can be a huge draw if managed properly.
I dont think the power is gone
Paq said after their fight that Cottos shots that landed clean did hurt him, Cotto KO'd Yuri Foreman and Mayorga, Margarito is impossible to hurt with a single shot, and Floyd (like him or not) can take a good shot on the rare occasion one is landed. Let Cotto fight someone with a normal chin that can be hit again before we judge his punching power.
Are you on crack??????

Damn near no recognizable names, and Sergio is not ducking him, he is ducking Sergio. You are totally delusional.
After reading some of these comments
I think Paq is totally shot, he has never had a quality win in his career, and he should kill himself immediately.
Jr is "supposed" to win this fight.
Chavez should win this fight, but that will mean nothing in a fight with Sergio. Sergio has been screaming for a Chavez fight for two years now, the only thing I remember Chavez saying about Sergio is "If I fought Sergio like I fought tonight, I would lose". To claim Sergio is ducking Chavez is preposterous.
I started this thread because I know there'll be a heap of revisionism once Chavez violates Lee. You'll all start claiming that Lee was a bum etc, just like you do every single time he beats a hall of famer, world champion or world class contender(and he's beaten lots of them).
After this victory he'll be on course for his second consecutive fighter of the year award and surely even TheRing, with their vile prejudice against him, won't deny that he's worthy of being the #5 P4P fighter in the world, today.
45 have tried and 45 have failed. Lee can't be the first, but he will be the next.
Revisionism??? Im saying now Lee aint that great. He has very few quality wins himself. Beating Lee proves nothing. A lot of Sergio haters claim he is ducking the SMW's, Chavez is naturally bigger than Sergio and can barely make 160 anymore. If anyone at MW needs to move up and fight some SMW's, its Chavez.
Chavez beat another club fighter...
A 46th tried and a 46th failed.
And if you honestly believe Sergio is running from Chavez, you are quite simply a delusional retard.
Yeah Jermain was one of my favorites, in the years leading up to the Bhop fights he was a destroyer in the ring, very personable, engaging, and respectful out of the ring. He did go through a spell there getting knocked out, but he was fighting unbeaten monster punchers.
Floyd had a better run in that time period that included Marquez hatton de la Hoya and judah. Hell even throw baldomir, say what you want about him he just beat the last undisputed champ at 147.
All of those are fights he won. You could argue that Taylor was 3-7 over that stretch. So who cares about who he was fighting if he wasn't winning and winning big
What the hell does this thread have to do with Floyd?
As much a I detest Floyd
I have never bashed his skills. Floyd won that fight, no question, Zab definitely made it interesting, especially early, but he did not win. I have long thought that Zabs physical skills were on par with Floyds, or at least very close, but that the biggest difference between the two was Zabs lack of mental focus.
These two get busted by standard testing methods, but how many morons are still convincing themselves that a certain Southeast Asian fighter is hiding something?
sergio walks around 175-180.
he can comfortably fight at 168. stop making excuses for his ducking of great prime opposition and tolerating his attempted cherry picking of welterweights.
sergio can fight at 168. he just doesnt have the ambition.
This thread has more stupid replies than any thread i have ever seen. If Sergio is ducking the SMW crowd, the entire SMW crowd is ducking the CW crowd.
He's 5'10 with a 75'' reach. And I guarantee he cuts a lot of weight to make 160.
If he gets a competent S & T coach he could put on some more muscle keep his speed and fight much more comfortably at 168.
No, he doesn't cut a lot of weight to make 160, he is only about 165 on fight night.
he's moving up one division. not two. Your comparison is the stupidest thing in this thread.
He is really a JMW fighting at MW, you are the stupidest person on earth, please commit suicide.
He knocked out face first past prime Ricky hatton
Flashed knocked down a not 100% cotto who has stamina issues
He broke Margo's face on accumulation
He couldn't hurt Marquez
He hit Shane in the damn neck anyone would fall
Never hurt clottey
And just beat on Oscar who was so shot and drained its funny
I don't see the power.
He's only destroyed one fighter...-_- it was hatton come on people
He knocked down Cotto twice and he only made it to round 12 by running.
He took his foot off the gas when Marg was ready to go lights out.
He has knocked Marquez four times in three fights.
Shane said after the fight he has never been hit that hard in his life.
He made Oscar quit, the only other man to stop Oscar was Bhop at MW.
Clottey is especially hard to hurt, and Clottey admitted later that he was hurt.
He destroyed Hatton in round 2, who had only lost once, that in round 10.
Big Pwill fan
He was very entertaining, lost to Quintana, then went on a tear KO;ing Quintana in the rematch at WW, moving up to MW and scoring a knockout, back down to SMW to beat Winky, then a thrilling fight with Martinez. Looked to be on his way to a top five P4P ranking before getting stopped by Martinez. I think that fight took something away from him mentally. He would fight anyone from 147 to 160 and do it with a smile on his face. He will be missed in the ring, wish him a good recovery and a good life.
Floyd said before this fight that he got hit more than normal in the Cotto fight because they had somewhat neglected defense in training for Cotto, and that leading up to this fight his father put more emphasis on defense. He stuck to the game plan, and besides that, as some others have said, Cotto is future HOF.
You are really downing Dawson for wanting to fight Ward over Pascal? Ward is a bigger fight and Ward is better than Pascal. Ward vs Dawson is a great match-up.
Downing him? No, don't get your panties in a wad? I asked a simple question and received several good answers, including yours, except for the panties in a wad thing.
Agreed
I hope Mosley wins, and I think he actually can, but if he does I wouldn't get to jacked up about it. Nothing against Canelo really, but he was getting outboxed by Gomez before hurting him and the ref stopped the fight a little prematurely. Canelo is a solid kid, and a pretty solid fighter, but beating him will not mean Shane is ready for a rematch with with Floyd or Paq. I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Cotto again, or maybe Kirkland just for entertainment value.
He probably would. I don't see why people think Floyd can fight Middleweights.
Martinez can still make 154, I would love to see the fight at that weight.
