At this rate his legacy is wasting away and he aint getting any younger.
The WW's aint figting him so move on. Pirog or Golovkin would be nice but 168 is where its at.
Too many good fights at that weight: Froch, Ward, Dirrell, Steiglitz, DeGale, Quillin, etc...
Anyone else want to see him move up? How would he fare against those fighters?
he's moving up one division. not two. Your comparison is the stupidest thing in this thread.
He is really a JMW fighting at MW, you are the stupidest person on earth, please commit suicide.
No I am saying Bute was ranked #2 or #1 Super Middleweight in the world. The Ring Magazine had him ranked that high. He was also a world champion. He had been "established" as one of the division's best. But once he fought another top fighter look what happened. Quillin and Golovkin are not that they are both still on the bottom of the top 10 of the Middleweight division. If you even want to rank them within the top 10. Golovkin and Quillin are working their way to get to the top and prove themselves while Bute was seen as already established.
What I was getting at is that Martinez only wants a smaller Floyd and inexperienced Chavez while not even trying to pursue other fights. He couldn't get either of those two or Cotto or Pacquiao so instead he wasted his time with Dzinziruk and Barker. Those type of fights don't do anything for him. At least Golovkin and Quillin are highly regarded and talked about within the boxing world. More importantly he should be looking at fights with Sturm, Geale, and Pirog. If he doesn't want to move up and can't fight the biggest names around him then he should try to unify the Middleweight division (besides Chavez because we all know he isn't getting that fight). If the Chavez fight doesn't happen next and he still doesn't get a Cotto or Mayweather, who will he fight next? I bet him and Dibella don't look at Pirog, Geale, or Sturm as options.
Geale was offered 1 million dollars to fight Martinez before Barker, but he rejected. Martinez even offered Quillin the fight before Barker, but he also rejected. And if you seriously think Martinez is the one who doesn't want the Sturm fight, you have no idea what you're talking about. That fight would have been made ages ago if Sturm wanted it. And I'm not exactly sure why you think a win over Pirog and Golovkin means anymore than a win over Dzinziruk. They're completely interchange names in Martinez resume. No will care eitherway in the end. At least Dzizniruk was an accomplished veteran in his division with wins over Daniel Santos and Joel Julio.
I can't make heads or tails what you're saying. You're saying Bute wasn't a top contender, but for some reason Golovkin and Quillin are? And that Pirog isn't a contender compared to Golovkin and Quillin? That makes zero sense. Bute has has fought several top 10 guys like Johnson, Bika, and Andrade. Not big world beaters, but solid fighters to have in a resume. Pirog at least has Jacobs. Golovkin and Quillin have fought absolutely no one of note in their pro career. Even Chavez, who you call "inexperienced," has a better resume than Golovkin, Pirog, and Quillin. And Chavez is a title holder for all the moaning you're doing about unifying!

Being that it is universal knowledge that Pacman cannot compete with Martinez, no need to even mention that fight. But the biggest & most competitive fight to be made under 168 is still Floyd-Martinez.
But since Floyd is trying to pass Martinez off to supermiddleweights Martinez should ask Dirrel for a catchweight of 164.
Unlike Bute they are top contenders. Well besides Pirog but that is pretty much a paper belt. Golovkin and Quillin are top contenders trying to reach the top. They are not highly touted #2 or #3 Middleweights in the world.

Speaking of "inexperienced" fighters, after the destruction of Bute, I would have thought it would be a good idea to stop hyping up untested fighters.

And watch he will stay away from fighters like Pirog, Golovkin, and Quillin.

I think he's quite happy feasting on average fighters whilst being paid by HBO to do so.
If he stops getting paid so well for each touches he might be forced to face some of the good 154 or 160 guys, but until then he'll keep to the same routine
this......

Martinez is wasting his own career. He is not trying to unify Middleweight and he is not trying to move up to face known names like Froch or Ward. He should have been the one to expose Bute but no it was Froch. He is trying to pick on a smaller Floyd and an inexperienced Julio. There is no sympathy from me that Sergio is still a nobody. He had his chances to take more risks in order to becoming bigger like he wanted but no. Instead he fought people like Dzinziruk and Barker. Well done Sergio.
And watch he will stay away from fighters like Pirog, Golovkin, and Quillin.
I disagree the guys at 168 are huge. They will all move to 175 or have been at 175 at some point. Martinez should just atay at 160 and fight the best there.
The same reason why cotto, manny, floyd shouldnt fight him is why he shouldnt foght the super middles.
lets talk the real thing, everybody make sacrifice pac does, so does mayweather(the 2 jump 2 weight division for superstardom) if you want big money and recognition you have take the risk. its just that simple.
let see....
pac has that 7 division thing
may has the big "0"
wht can martinez do to climb to those 2 level???
maybe he can move-up and beat the winner of super six who is the most talented young man in the sport. since getting fight with pac or may are kinda imposibble.
He already moved up to middleweight and is as undersized as Pac is at 147.
Stop speaking of height. This is not the nba. For Martinez to "fill out" and become a legit 168 fighter he would have to put on approximately 15lbs of muscles.
Not likely. He's like 50 years old.

Yeah except you forgot the most important stat. Their weight and muscle mass.
I was not aware that this was the height championship of the world.
Of course he can but he would be at a disadvantage.
Dawson can come in light against Wladimir Klitschko.
Heavyweights are not comparable. Not at all since there's a dropoff in punch resistance scaling and in speed and mobility as you get that big.
Armstrong is arguably a top5 of all time. Martinez is not.
Pac has fought fighters on the end of their career or coming off horrible fights. I doubt Martinez will go up and fight Allan Green, Glen Johnson or Jermain Taylor.
He already did. He's as small a middleweight as Pac is a welterweight.
I seriously doubt he'd be a favorite against any top fighter at 168. And if he lose at his age he can kiss big money fights goodbye more or less.
sergio beats any 168 pounder except ward & dirrell.
froch vs sergio is a toss up.
im gonna laugh my arse of once sergio realizes all the money & legacy is at 168, moves up & shows a good account of himself.

1st of all he's not 50. 2nd of all, i just posted the top two fighters physical statistics. Statistically, it shows that the two best fighters in the division are not that far apart from sergio. 3rd of all, if he's older he should be able to retain weight easier and it should be an advantage for him physically to move up.

& i dont know how many times i have to tell you this,
sergio doesnt have to weigh in at 168. He can come in light.

Great old school fighters come in light all the time. Roy moved up to heavyweight & beat ruiz. tyson was outweighed by as much as 40 lbs sometimes. Pac has shown you that weight isnt as important as you make it out to be. Henry Armstrong held 147,135, & 126 at the same time.

Asking sergio to move up one division is not unreasonable.
He already did. He's as small a middleweight as Pac is a welterweight.
You dont think sergio can be competent against bute? against kessler?
get your head out of your hairy balls harry balls.

You can say that, or that Martinez is all about the benjamins that's why he's going from respectable to hypocrite begging pac or Floyd foir a fight and will hug his current division to death.
I can understand that, coz at his advanced age I think legacy ain't important to him, hence he won't move to 168 where which the fights are more dangerous and the possibility of him getting smoked is very imminent. He'd rather stay somewhere safe and lucrative.
But it ain't lucrative long enough, and he should definitely look into moving to 168 while it's hot. I think money can still be made there.
160 is a barren wasteland. if sergio is trying to take care of his retirement package, all the money is at 168 not to mention legacy.

You have a point.
But Martinez can also be given the same predicament as not to fight these dogs at 168 as Pac and Floyd are given the same predicament not fighting him.
You would upset the Sergio dickriders tho. :lol1:
of course i have a point. sergio walks around 175-180. No way in hell he can fight at 168. The illogical logic of nsb.
Posters at NSB put wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much emphasis on weight. If you truly are a great fighter, you can overcome weight disadvantages.
I guess sergio isnt great enough to move up one division & try to be a 4 division champion. I mean floyd started at 130 & he just fought cotto at 154. Pac started at 106 & is now one of the best 147 pounders.
The list is endless....
