Go back to the De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto fights and then look at his last two fights again Marquez and Bradley and you see a huge difference in speed from Pacquiao. Is like watching two different fighters, he is still fast but he is not jaw dropping fast like he was back in 08,09 and even 2010.
His speed has slowed a lil but I dont think that much. I think the major difference is he was much more of a volume puncher then so he looks way faster. now he only fights like that in spurts and seems to put more power in his shots
That's because Bradley and Marquez(even Mosley) constantly moved to Pacquiao's right and when you do that against Pacquiao he'll just follow you around the ring, coming in straight lines. What's the use of all that speed if you can't cut the ring off? I don't even like Pac but it's fcking frustrating watching the dude just follow his WAY slower opponents like puppy.
Even in the Cotto fight after the fourth round when Cotto got on his bicycle, Pacquiao couldn't just cut the ring off and take him out earlier.
Put a guy who would just stand infront of Pacquiao( like Diaz, Hoya, Hatton, Cotto for the first 4 rounds, Margarito) and trust me he'll still dazzle. He's not as fast as before but he's still one of the fastest right now.
After reading some of these comments
I think Paq is totally shot, he has never had a quality win in his career, and he should kill himself immediately.
I could have sworn Hopkins was knocking a lot of guys out till he got older. You sure about that theory?
Personally I think pac not knocking guys out lately has to do with the guys he's fighting - bradley, marquez, mosley, clottey - none of these guys have ever been KO'd before. The one exception was Margarito but he's always been known for having an iron chin. Even when mosley knocked him down the last time he was laughing getting up haha.
yah that's true..especially in the case of marquez, mosley and margarito...but pacquiao knocked down mosley with one punch..becoming the second person to ever knockdown mosley. a young, strong and bigger canelo couldn't even knockdown mosley even when he was tagging mosley with a ton of punches...and people were saying that canelo hit harder than pac.
Yes, I've noticed this also. He was like a split second slower than usual against Timothy. While he threw a lot of flurries, yet he hardly connected with any combination punches in this fight; Just mostly single punches at a time. Manny missed punches against Bradley that he typically lands in his sleep. They were many openings for him that he couldn't seem to exploit; While Bradley was exchanging and trading punches with him. It's like he could see the target but just couldn't hit them.
The last 2 opponents were a lot fresher than the others to put it mildly. He's slowed down a little since the whole OSDT issue was brought up too... kinda odd huh? The styles don't match up as good recently for him either.
yeah he was almost like a man on drugs before...
So pacq has lost, speed, work rate, and even power? Come on guys! Really? No one thinks that is ironic. He was his fastest, strongest, and most active after the prime of his career. But, now, a few years later he rapidly declines in all those areas? And you never lose your power. That stays with you. Ask foreman.
The bold- Prove that it wasn't What??
And Roach only called them "illegal" when Oscar used them, but nobody stopped him from rolling up tape and gauze either, and that's when roach started using them for Pac.
If they allowed oscar to do it for so long, on top of hundreds of other fighters including Pac, then it must not be illegal.
Next time you get a speeding ticket, tell the officer everyone in the world speeds so it isn't illegal. See how well that goes.
Because watching somebody wrapping their gloves, which a 12 year old can do, if he knows how to wrap gloves. Is the same as finding illegal substances in somebody's body.
I am just pointing out that the commissions aren't credible sources of proof that boxers are not cheating.
Do you really think that Margarito when through his entire career with legal handwraps and when he got caught, that was his FIRST time testing out new wraps?
Why am I even arguing this, Roach has said that he uses illegal wraps and the commission doesn't care...
name one Pacquiao fight where his handrwapping wasn't observed and signed by a member of the NSAC or whatever state he was fighting in.
help I can't!!
Name one time Shane Mosley failed a NSAC drug test or whatever state he was fighting in.
Name one time Lamont Peterson failed a NSAC drug test or whatever state he was fighting in.
Name one time Andre Berto failed a NSAC drug test or whatever state he was fighting in.
Can we get off this notion that because the athletic commission approves of something that it is alright...You mine as well start saying triangle theories work :killyou:
