Depends on his stamina and how he handles the mental pressure Canelo will put on him. If he is able to stay composed and doesn't tire out or get sloppy as he tends to do late in fights? Then sure, he can pose a threat and compete with Canelo. If not? Then he's getting stopped in the mid rounds or losing a wide decision where he falls apart in the 2nd half of the fight.
This is my problem with the 168 pound division and what has been my problem for a while. All these guys are unchallenged for the most part so we don't really know how good they are. What did BJS do at 168? What has Plant done or Benavidez? If they would have fought each other before getting someone like Canelo? Then we would have a better idea of what kind of fighter they were. I mean BJS did some things at 160 where you knew what he could do, but he had just been so inconsistent and inactive since getting to 168 that you didn't know what he was capable of.
That's a damn good point my friend!!!
Granted, there both great fights, but I think Crawford presents a greater challenge to Manny than Spence. Spence has size, overall good fundamentals, good cardio, and pressure but he doesn't seem as "gifted" or talented as Crawford. Neither has better speed than Manny but Crawfords unique style stands a better chance of catching Manny. Spence is too straight up and down... He is big and walks down his opponents, but doing that with Manny is a dangerous strategy... I can see him getting lit up by combinations as he tries to pressure Manny then reverting back to boxing from a distance and using his jab.... No one has really bullied Manny like that... Unless you catch Manny with something huge at the absolute perfect time (ala Marquez) you're not going to knock him out...
Crawford has better timing and could potentially catch Manny with something... Crawford also has a mean streak in him that really comes out when the other fighters starts to get too aggressive...
I think Crawford-Pacquiao is a WAR... whereas Spence-Pacquiao is more of a boxing chessmatch with moments of actions here and there... I do not think Spence will maintain consistence pressure throughout twelve rounds and try to get Manny out of there.... He will be content to try to win on points.
I agree and think that is why he choose Spence. Spence is a beast in that ring but he has shown that he can get hit.
Everyone should just enjoy a competitive fight I thought that was the reason to watch boxing ?
That's the point I am trying to make. No one wants to see they so called top guys fight bums. We want to see a competitive fight. Canelo can fight a one armed man and folks will try to convince themselves that is will be a good fight.
I think that we are going to see that these guys no longer have long title reigns. Haney can very well loose his next fight. None of these guys are head and shoulders above each other. If I had to pick one it would be Loma but you can't call it.
True lol whether you agree with Atlas or not, he makes valid points. He’s also said that he don’t really give a damn about what he says. He does it for the fans. The man could really be kissing butt and still be commentating but he’s not. His opinion and analysis have credibility especially because of how long he’s been in the game. People should take their emotions out of this and realize that his comments have some truth.
He makes some very valid points. Despite the beating Canelo took he was always a round from a draw.
Makabu vs cieslak was my favourite fight of the year.
They fought somewhere in congo in a very poorly put together venue. In a park with plastic chairs.
Cieslak didnt receive his money on time and was threatening to pull out, then the promoter came by with a bag of cash lol.
During the fight they ended rounds prematurely when makabu was hurt and let rounds go significantly longer when cieslak was hurt.
Man tell me that you are joking!!! I am dying laughing over here!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D
It’s great he took everyone on, you have to respect that.
He lost in all of his biggest tests though, although he was always very competitive.
His resume of fighters faced is excellent, not an excellent resume of wins though.
That is the point I was trying to make.
I am so over this fight. I think that they are scared to fight each other. Honestly, if all sides really wanted this fight it would have happened by now.
I think that out of all the top prospects Tank is the most suspect. For him to be a knockout artist it doesn't seem that anyone is afraid of him. That means that these guys see holes in his game. You don't see folks calling out Vergil Ortiz.
All talk. I don't think Oscar is all that willing to throw his newest protege to the wolves just yet
I beg to differ. With that Canelo money gone they may be pushing Virgil Ortiz and Ryan Garcia into some big fights. Hell Oscar will probably be willing to take an ass whipping if the money is right.
Oh look another ldbc
Racist poster.
Can you explain why Spence, Crawford, Charlo(who ducked canelo) and Tank only face bums.
What the hell are you talking about? What the hell is ldbc? My post is about Canelo not those other guys or anyone's race. It's about boxing. Why do some of you guys always have to take things to the gutter?
Tyson likes Benavidez because they share the same coke dealer
Yeah deflect from what the man is saying about Canelo. There is simply no excuse that can be made for Canelo ducking Benavidez.
Last time I checked there isn’t a high demand for purse jackets, fish tank high heels and lamp shade hats. Would be the worlds saddest yard sale
Dude that is the funniest **** I have read all week.
It's simple those guys all fought each other. They didn't dodge each other or cherry pick every single opponent like many do today. The best fought the best so a loss wasn't the end of the world.
Nah Oscar fought EVERYONE. He’s a great, great fighter. Whitaker, Chavez, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Hopkins, Mosley, Trinidad, Quartey etc.
This is something that often gets overlooked. This is why Canelo will never be remembered as fondly as Dela Hoya. Dude fought everyone.
It's funny that you bring this up as this was something I was thinking about the other day with the announcement of the Spence/Garcia fight. I think that at this point they need to go the supercard route or maybe have 2 main event level fights on the same card.
Could it be that they love each other? We are not all dogs. I have been married for 16 years and have never cheated on my wife. Opportunities have existed for me to cheat. Some people have morals and try to do the right thing.
I think that it can be Fury. Fury has 2 things working for him. He can box and he has proven that he can take Wilder's best shot. I have never seen a Wilder fight where he wasn't losing on the scorecard before the knockout came. He is beatable and I don't think that anyone would disagree with that.
