I laughed at the article when they said he is a power puncher. He isnt feather fisted but he is by no means a power puncher. If he is a power puncher kelly pavlik must be a murderer.
To be honest Charlie. I think you are showing improvement. You actually look like an amateur boxer now. Before in your training you looked like you were trying to be Roy Jones which is impossible at your stage. Now you look like you are actually trying to go about it the correct way, props.
Yeah, Castillo has always had weight problems and I dont think he could get below 147. And after seeing his last fight I think he would have to be crazy to fight again, he looked pretty bad.
I'm not a message board tough guy like most people here. I've never boxed in a ring before so I will not be a douche by saying I would never quit and stuff like that. I'm all for it. If someone absolutely has no chance of winning why take extra punishment? Its like when Cotto took a knee there were multitudes of peabrains here calling him a quitter. How many people on this message board have had their nose broken to pieces and can only breath through their mouth while taking punches from Margarito? ZERO!!! In a sport where one round can mean the difference between you fighting another day or being a vegitable sitting in your parents house helpless then I say leave it up to the professionals as to when to stop it. Dont listen to armchair pros that think every boxing match should be to the death and do not realize that boxers have families and other concerns other than staying on their feet until they are punched into oblivion.
Of course there will not be a rematch. Did you see how happy Khan was that they stopped the fight? The way he celebrated after the doctor stopped the fight on an ACCIDENTAL head but you would think he just KO'd Marquez or something. I think he got rocked at least once and was just happy that he was fighting a handicapped Barrera and was happy to get out of the fight with a win.
Since everyone is hyping him beyond belief, I hope he challenges a current top guy. I would love to see it. I wouldnt be so hard on him if he were not so damn cocky, when he really should be humbled right now to get another shot after getting blown out by an unknown. He will probably beat a few more bums in the UK until one of the current greats gets old enough to where he can beat them.
Who the hell wrote this article?
So the worst cut ever takes nothing away from the performance? And this fight erased the memory of Breidis Prescott? Holy crap, might as well let Amir fight Pacquiao for real to see who's really the best in the world.
Yeah no crap. I actually enjoyed the PPV, not the last fight. But overall it was a good night. But I did get completely tired of hearing the commentators talking about Amir being the new face to boxing and all kinds of other crap like that. And everyone kept saying "dont take anything away from Amir's win". I will, MAB had a terrible cut and could not see but through one eye. And as everyone knows the fight should have been stopped soon after the cut, I'm shocked that Marco didnt pass out from all the blood he lost, when the camera zoomed in you could see the blood basically pouring out steadily. No worries though, I'm not a Barrera fan and once Amir ends up in another fight that isnt picked for him he will end up on the canvas again. Not that I'm saying MAB was supposed to be an easy fight, but MAB is 35, has not had a great win since 2004 and had fought a 1-7 fighter in his last fight, and he moved up to lightweight. Its not like Khan just beat the best lightweight out there, he beat someone that has never competed on a decent level at that weight.
Its funny though, the same commentators that were calling Amir Khan the next all time great were also saying Enzo was the best cruiserweight out there since Haye had left for heavyweight. But didnt have a lot to say after he got knocked out by a fighter with 5 kos in 17 fights. I had never really grasped why people always say the brits hype their fighters until I watched a card from over there. lawl!
i hit harder then before watch my new video Im gonna pulverize pimp
You have to punch though to show that? The last fight we seen of you, you agave up after you got hit. I know its different in the ring than it is just talking about it. But I've boxed around in backyard with friends(all out) and thats at least better than never having take a punch before you get in the ring. At least get out there and take a few punches before you get in the ring to make sure you wont choke under pressure.
I believe Margarito did cheat against Cotto. But these pictures prove nothing. The blood stain on the pad in the first picture is much smaller than the one on his wraps after the cotto fight. Not to mention the illegal pad they put in his wraps was under gauze so you would not see that particular blood stain anyways.
Or maybe he simply bets against his picks..if that was even possible. :lol1:
I honestly think he just likes going for the underdog and that makes him look bad as far as predictions go. I'm the same way, I love to see a fighter that is not supposed to win overcome and throw it in peoples face. But most of the time when I'm picking I separate who I "want" to win from who "will" win pretty well.
Yeah, and Breidis. Going to be some knockouts tonight. Anyone want to be on what round Gamboa hits the canvas? HAHA, he always wins but its almost like clockwork that he is going to get clocked.
Wow, wasnt the fight only a month or so ago? I can understand putting on 15 pounds of water weight maybe. But looks like he has put on 50 pounds of fat in this time. I think he gets the opposite of a liposuction after every fight, where they pump him full of fat instead of sucking it out.
Augustus. I have watched him for a long time. I'm not saying he is the best out there but he is my favorite. Straight up won the fight last weekend and in classic Augustus fashion he lost the decision. Cant help but like the guy. I just hope he makes enough money in his boxing career to live a good life. Because its obviously apparent that he has exposed boxing decisions for what they are, garbage.
I've watched him throw some fights away, I guess just to get a check since he is really not worried about his record. But at the same time, I've seen him work his ass off and win a fight only to get robbed.
MMA is a fad. It will die out. Just like toughman came along and was huge then died out. I'm not saying MMA will dissappear completely but it will be less popular in a few years guaranteed. Boxing is not dying, its been around for a long time and is not going anywhere. MMA is more for teens, when I was that age it was WCW wrestling that everybody watched.
It should be. Usually they show 3 fights on HBO, and there are only 3 showing up here, so I imagine they will show them all. Out of the 3 I can only see maybe one going the distance.
WOW, just got through watching that fight. I kinda disliked hopkins before watching that. I'm a big fan now. That was just an amazing performance. If you watched that fight I dont see how you could have not been rooting for him by the middle of the fight.
I originally bought it like I said. But even if I had paid money for the PPV, the last fight would have made my money's worth. Some PPV end up not being worth 10 dollars, but that one was good even if it were just the last fight.
Thanks guys for the link. Was good enough though that I might still watch it this weekend on the bigscreen.
Hey, I am a white American so I should like the guy if race was the issue. I am almost always routing for the American fighter too. But if Abraham ever fought Pavlik, I would be pulling for Arthur.
Pavlik just bugs me. I thought JT was gonna take him down, but I was wrong. Yea, he has proven himself...... but I still just dont beleive he is the real deal.... I am hopeful Hopkins still has what it takes.
After seeing Bernard in his last fight I dont know what hope your holding on to. You have to be desperate to actually think Pavlik is still all hype and Hopkins is going to blow him out of the water, even though after his last fight he is showing that he is getting old finally.
SOB, if I paid 50 bucks and its going to be like this I'm getting my money back. Its like one second of playing, one second of a freeze, over and over.
I'm not saying Augustus is the best out there even though I'm a big fan of his. But to say he's a bum just shows how ignorant you are. He has never had hand picked opponents, shit most of his fights were on very short notice. I know I've seen fights that he filled in for and apparently he was not even in the gym really. He admitted to having a problem with weed and told how it kept him from really focusing.
He may seem like a cocky guy in the ring but he just does all that dancing to get a laugh out of the crowd, he does it in more of a goofy way. He is a really nice guy if you watch some of his interviews. I could be wrong, but at this point I really think he is taking it 100% seriously because he said he is tired of scraping by trying to take care of his family.
And please dont bring up the kid diamond fight. He was drained terribly. He gassed out after the 2nd round and if you watched him against ward you would know that is not normal.
Is there a boxing forum where at least half of the posts are intelligent?
I'm considering giving up watching boxing after tonight. I'm tired of this shit. Augustus won 6 rounds to 2, and thats with giving Figueroa a couple of rounds that were STILL close. This is bullshit, no wonder boxing is getting less popular. They should string those judges up. Disgrace.
Cotto is 100% right. You cannot demand a fighter shave off two pounds to make him a bit weaker, and then expect them to put up the WW belt. You get one or the other IMO. I am really not surprised that Roach doesnt have Pavlik come down to 150 so Pac can fight him and take his belts and say he was the MW champ.
Emanuel Augustus. But I think a lot of people realize he had potential. I think he just liked smoking weed too much, which led him to not give his full potential. One fight he would get a huge upset, and another night he would look like he just wants the paycheck.
Agreed but Marg is a different man after the defeat. He has a new found "I don't give a fuck who you are and how hard you hit me, I'm gonna knock you out or make you quit" attitude. Showed that against Golden J. showed that against Cintron, and really showed it against Cotto. Thats why i think Marg takes it
I dont think you understand what he said. There is a small chance he had a bad night. But I'd bet Paul Williams crazy reach/boxing skills/high workrate had a lot to do with it. A lot of boxers make excuses after a lackluster performance when they really shouldnt.
Tony will prison-rape the Rican again. plus, Cotto lost some band-waggoners.
Watch when he comes back. Less popular than the middling level he was already at.
I think this is why a lot cannot accept defeat, people like you. The infestation of "Cotto is a pussy quiter" and bullshit that the Margarito people here are posting. This swarm of Margarito fans has got me ready to find another boxing forum to post on.
Cotto put up a good fight and gave you your moneys worth but Mexican fans are still trying to discredit the fight.
