That's a joke I hope.
You've gotta consider, the guys near 40, has no boxing experience, and I can not really make a good judgement from seeing him thump a few random brawlers around who he usually has large advantages in weight, size, and a long reach over.
The only telling time I seen him was when he brawled for about 10 mins with a fat ex-cop, and then his stamina was so bad he got raped. Realisticly, I see him beating a few poor level opponents, amassing a decent KO percentage, and then the highlight of his career, he could get brutally KO'ed in 1 by Butterbean.
I am in 100% agreement.
I am of the opinion also, Joe Calzaghe can only fight what's there to fight, and he's consistantly defeated the top contenders in the super middleweight division for years now. You'd think once he claimed the RING title people would cut him a bit of slack.
You people need to shut the fuck up about the "10-8" "10-8" "10-8" "10-8" "10-8" "10-8" and let the guy post the round by round. I don't sitting here refreshing for all that shit to come up on the page!
What I would like to happen: Baldomir to yet again tear up the script and post the upset of the century, winning by KO.
What WILL happen: We all know there is a script written, Floyd makes Baldy look like a cumbersome idiot and wins yet another world title, becomes the man at welter and remains unbeatable. The fact that Baldomir seems to have disregarded the script in his two most recent fights and clearly won two fights in which he was widely expected to lose makes it all a little more interesting.
Did I not read somewhere, on the night of his fights Baldomir weighs in at Super Middle weight? So, that is 21lbs heavier, although I inadvertantly voted 15-20.
I would like to know what are Tua's plans for the future? I remember him as a decent fighter a couple of years ago, but I haven't seen him on the tv for a long while now, and from Boxrec it looks like his opponents ain't upto much in way of exactly that, being opposing.
This is a good fight. 4 rounds to none for Hanshaw. Im surprised he's fighting Mendy this way, but its making for an exciting fight.
You can keep updating, if you don't mind.
Earliest memories I have... a young Naseem Hamed winning his first world title, Chris Eubanks first loss to Steve Collins. I have real vague memories of Nigel Benn vs. Gerald McClellan, and Lennox Lewis getting TKO'ed by Oliver McCall.
In my family my parents have always been boxing mad, and my dad was even actively involved himself back in the day. Me and all of my brothers were all brought up with boxing on the tv, boxing magazines and books strewn all across the house, autographed pictures of Roberto Duran hanging on the bathroom was etc (wtf, haha).
I guess the first fight I actually watched was probably late 80's, but I only really started paying attention in the mid 90's. And my parents wonder why I was a violent problem child.
01.) Joe Calzaghe
02.) Alex Arthur
03.) Ricky Hatton
04.) Marco Antonio Barrera
05.) Bernard Hopkins
06.) Danny Williams
07.) Diego Corrales
08.) Kassim Ouma
09.) Daniel Ponce De Leon
10.) David Haye
I may aswell just post this list while I have it in some sort of order. It tends to change sporadically depending on what kinda mood I'm in.
It's alot more fun to see a "prospect" get owned than it is to jump on the bandwagon, in my opinion. Take for example, those cocky idiots, Jaidon Codrington & Curtis Stevens who act like they're world champs when all they do is fight bums. Pretty funny seeing them both get stopped.
Also, Jeff Lacy comes to mind, although he is/was a little more far gone, I still found the Calzaghe fight hilarious, and the Tsypko rematch, the result of that fight had me in stitches.
Wasn't expecting that outcome.
Damn, now I've just gotta wait another 10-15 minutes for this Franklin-Silva play by play then I can go to bed. 5:05am here in the UK.
At the end of the day Joe Calzaghe was about to rape yet another American fighter. All the ref done was saved Peter Manfredo a night in the hospital.
Finally, to all the yanks, I'd rather see a premature stoppage in a fight like that were it is just a matter of time before it comes, rather than see an American fighter get beat down in his backyard, but then win on points anyway.
Im gonna enjoy watching Joe beat up Taylor.
Well, Taylor appears to be too scared to fight Calzaghe, so it looks like it's down to Hopkins or Kessler. No doubt, when Joe dismantles the pair of them, all of a sudden Hopkins will have been too old and on the decline, and Kessler will have been a hype job and nothing special, and Joe won't have proven anything, atleast that is if you go off the haters logic.
David Haye would KO Enzo Maccarinelli.
Johnny Nelson would have boxed the socks off Enzo Maccarinelli.
Jean Marc Mormeck would outclass Enzo Maccarinelli.
All Enzo Maccarinelli seems to want to do is beat up on no-marks. As soon as he steps up he'll be done for. He nowhere near the level of David Haye. The lack of quality opposition compared to Haye is atrocious.
The fact that he's a world champion at the weight and he's fought absolutely no-one is a fucking joke.
If I had a son or whatever who I was gonna introduce to boxing, the first fight I'd show him would be Jeff Lacy vs. Joe Calzaghe, just to get him familiar with the phrase "schooling". In my opinion that is a great presentation of top of the damn range boxing ability, down to a tee.
What those MMA guys need to remember is that "The Baddest Man On The Planet" Mike Tyson knocked Shawn Michaels out, but "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock got beat by Shawn Michaels. Don't try to tell me that shit wasn't legit either.
Earlier, Esch's 21-year-old, 289 pound son Brandon "Babybean" Esch was knocked out cold at 2:00 of round one in his pro debut by Matt Eckerle, as the concerned senior 'Bean looked on. Babybean was down for about ten minutes as paramedics administered oxygen, but happily he walked out of the ring under his own power.
Oh well...
