Wayne Alexander has pulled out and I don't think they have a replacement yet, but some of the matches have been announced...
Who do you think will win each match-up? I'm going for...
Paul Smith (18-0) versus Jonathan Reid (34-5)
Martin Concepcion (11-3) versus Alfonso Gomez (15-3-2)
Paul Buchanan (8-0-1) versus Jerson Revelo (17-2)
Ross Minter (16-1-1) versus Freddie Curiel (16-6)
Anthony Small (16-0) versus Walter Wright (13-2)
Nigel Wright (17-2) versus TBA (probably either K9 or Brinkley)
TBA versus TBA
I think it will be pretty close, but only see Gomez and Revelo as the likely American winners so far. Even though Buchanan will be fighting in front of his home crowd I just don't think he'll have the confidence to win....he wanted to pull out after finding out he was matched with Revelo and had to be persuaded to stay by his Frank and his trainer!
I've only seen brief highlights of Concepcion but haven't seen any indication that he could beat Gomez.
Updated line-up...still don't know who Nigel Wright is going to be fighting.
Middleweight Anthony Small v Walter Wright
Middleweight Paul Smith v Jonathan Reid
Welterweight Ross Minter v Freddy Curiel
Light Middleweight Colin McNeil v Cornelius Bundrage
Middleweight Martin Concepcion v Alfonso Gomez
Middleweight Paul Buchanan v Jerson Ravelo
Super Middleweight Robin Reid v Jesse Brinkley
Light Welterweight Nigel Wright v ?
Now, if these are all 8-rounders and theres going to be a one-hour show for each match-up, do you think they'll show the whole rounds or highlights?
im telling yo, Walter Wright vs Anthony Small is going to be a good fight, actually is the only one i care for, because it is between prospects...and i think Walter is gonna take it...
Well i also care for the Reid fight, should be entertaining if Robn's still got it
Don't know much about "Brinkley", but adding Robin to the team is a real step away from the entire concept of The Contender. Because let's face it, despite being called "Contenders", they're really not, are they? Whereas Reid was - and maybe still is - world class.
How can a seasoned pro like Robin Reid be labelled a 'Contender?' The same goes for Steve Forbes really, therefore, 'The Contender' took a step away from the contender concept in the last series!
I'm looking forward to the match-ups with Smith and Minter, though i hope Smith doesn't get drawn into a gruelling fight tomorrow! I'm sure that won't happen though.
With regards to Reid still being world class... I'd have to disagree... I think Lacy put paid to that.

Robin Reid has been added to the British team. He'll fight Jesse Brinkley in what could be a real mismatch if Reid still has anything left.
Two fighters (one on each side) are still to be announced. Nigel Wright and Cornelius Bundrage still don't have opponents.
Minter, Small and Smith all look rather confident.
Reid will crush the oh so average Brinkley and score a win for the Britts! :boxing:

Well, they had Steve Forbes in the last series of the Contender, and he was an IBF Champion who may well still be world class.
Robin Reid is still by far the most accomplished boxer on the bill though. Maybe he just isn't earning enough making porn and wanted some more cash?

I agree with those predictions, Wright is good but Small is the best in the tournement, Shame Wayne aint fighting coz he'd KO K9!
