Fury fought Wilder after 2 years out and without any serious tune up. He fought Klitschko, the decade long reigning HW champ, in his backyard.
Joshua fought Klitschko in his 19th fight, with only 9 years total boxing to his name. He has beat 3 of the current top 10, and is about to fight another.
Joshua apparently turned down 50% or so increase on his recorded purses? Well Wilder did the same thing in their negotiations. Their fight didnt happen because neither team wanted to lose control of the promotion, the chance to put such a huge fight on the networks they are beholden to was too big to pass up.
Fury also is only doing what all the other top HWs have already done in getting proper financial backing and a base to build his career from, rather than always being the away fighter. Its obviously annoying as a fan, Im gutted that it was Arum he ended up signing with, who I feel is the worst promoter for working with others, but I dont think we can blame Fury for wanting parity in negotiations.
Dont get drawn into this bs SR. You are a good poster.
On the fringes at the moment. Dont get too sold on wins over unproven Bakole or Ustinov.
Would like to see him take on a top 20 guy next. Gradually step it up if he is going to stay at HW.
I do like him though, and I like his style
not only that, SRL and Hearns spent their entire careers at 147 (Hearns at 154 also) when they were doing same day weigh ins, so size shouldn't be an excuse. If Hearns was making 147 on fight night, then he wasn't too big.
Hearns finished his career fighting between Cruiser and LHW.
He was much much naturally bigger than Mayweather, same day weigh ins or not.
The historical title in each division was not a lineal title, although it often was decided by lineage.
You could be stripped of the championship without being being beaten in the ring for a few different reasons.
Spending two years out ballooning up in weight and failing drugs tests would likely have you stripped.
Cling on to the lineal tag all you like, but Fury is not the champ at HW. I have him ranked no.1 but the title is vacant until we get a decisive top dog.
Because he didn’t want his time wasted.
Completely out the blue he just made a $50mill offer and he doesnt want to meet to discuss it?
Ok. What a waste of time :lol1:
Ajagbe is very talented, more talented than Joyce, but right now Joyce jabs his head off and beats him down. Far too developed as a fighter.
I know he fights funny, but results dont lie. Joyce must have something about him to have got where he has gotten in the Am code, and to be on the trajectory he is on as a pro.
Spence
Needs to cut off the ring and go to the body to slow Mikey down and land his power
Mikey
Needs to fight off the backfoot and pivot Spence as he comes in.
My breakdown:
Easter has a 4" reach advantage and much greater hand-speed than Spence and got dominated by Garcia. A LOT of casuals overlook stuff like this. If Mikey can execute his gameplan Spence should be in for a long night. If he ****s up and gets caught it will be a short one.
I'll elaborate more if I get actual responses and not fanboy caca.
Easter is tall but he doesnt fight tall, he is also a bean pole. Spence is bigger and heavier all round, while also being skilled, powerful, with great stamina. Garcia's only forays into the world above 135 were at 140 vs contenders and he looked like he might be hitting his limit already, even though he dominated both fights. If you paid close attention he looked bothered, especially to the body, getting hit by bigger guys. Spence is gonna be into the 160's on fight night and he is a brilliant body puncher.
Your tactics for Garcia are right, he needs to be on the back foot making sure to pivot into the space in centre ring if he feels he is getting too close to the ropes. His issue is that the traditional way to move vs southpaw is to pivot out to the left, but Spence has a brutal right hook to the body. If Mikey chooses to go the other way then Spence has a nice left as well. He is going to find that he wont be able to get away from Spence, the body shots will slow his feet down and Spence will get him to the ropes and maul him, just like he did to the much bigger (than Garcia) Brook who, though not as skilled as Mikey, fought in a similar style with similar attributes.
This is a mismatch. Even if Mikey fights a great fight, at some point the weight and relentlessness of Spence is going to get to him and he wont be able to get Spence's respect to give himself some breathing space.
Theres nothing really to analyse, the far bigger fighter is going to crush the far smaller one. That's why spence was 1/8 favourite when the fight got announced. But then people start overanalysing and start to believe the hype.
Spence is 1/1 for KO/TKO/DQ in the UK, and Im going for it. Cant see how Mikey gets away from this one.
Astronomical numbers for Wilder.
No reason not to take that money for 2 chances at becoming the undisputed HW champ plus a gimme.
Unless there is ***** in the small print obviously
No love for Louis, Holyfield or Walcott so far.
Louis threw every punch extremely well, but if his right was a sledge hammer, his left hook was the off switch for his opponents.
Holyfield had a brilliant technical hook, very versatile. Not super powerful, but really textbook technique.
Walcotts was well set up, and also brutal.

His major issue seems to be that he was based on a different continent to be fair.
Sanchez is limited as a trainer, but he is still pretty good, especially for a guy like Joyce.
He barely got by twice vs. Chisora and vs. Parker. Plus he's a steroid user. He's your typical wanker.
Nah. If you are referring to his ban, you should read up on it before making accusations
He has no European blood he’s fully Nigerian get over it. Race doesn’t mean much to me but it was AJ who said the black race was superior. I didn’t say it
His grandma is Irish...
He is a solid top 10 HW who has got into the top 5 mostly by default in my humble.
His run, while decent, has been a little overrated due to people comparing it to the absolutely atrocious runs being put together by most of guys in the current HW division.
I think he is more deserving than many outside the AJ/Wilder/Fury trinity of getting a title shot, but idgaf if they pass him over really. He is an ok option, but not a must see.
The idea he is being ducked by any of them is crazy.
At this point in time, the fight is 50/50. This fight will take place in America and Wilder is the star here.
It definitely isn’t 50/50.
Joshua is the second biggest star in the sport. He made more revenue fighting a relative no name in Joseph Parker than Wilder did in his biggest fight vs Fury.
50/50 American money split? Maybe. Not total revenue. Joshua is the star
He should be a Euro level/fringe world guy, but generally only seems to want to fight levels below or levels above where he should be so hard to get a true gage.
Do you deny the Brezeale caught Wilder coming in and hurt him?
Wilder is at his most vulnerable when he thinks he has someone hurt.
You are bang on and I’ve said exactly this loads of times.
Wilder loses all his technique when he goes for the kill. Which is why he was the one who ended up hurt by the end of 12th vs Fury.
If Joshua is wobbled but not knocked out, I could just as easily see Wilder having his head taken off rather than AJ.
In terms of tectics, like many have pointed out, Joshua is not Fury. He won’t be able to move like Fury did and he doesn’t need to. I think he needs to put pressure on Wilder, get into the middle range and let rip with tight short shots. Shorter punches land quicker than wide ones. He needs to constantly turn Wilder to Wilders left, and look to counter as Wilder tries to catch up. Wilders left hook is pretty poor, it’s not a particularly dangerous punch, so AJ needs to keep Wilder moving to that side and make it difficult to throw the right.
Ultimately, someone is getting their head taken off. Personally I would bet on the guy who throws shorter tighter punches in a fight like this, but at long range Wilder is absolutely lethal, so no doubt he will be dangerous as long as the fight is still going.
One thing Joshua/McCracken absolutely has to do is watch plenty of tape on Wilder.
He is subtle with his set ups for the right hand, but he isn’t all that versatile. He’s gonna jab, try and disrupt your guard and clear the path for the right. He does it fight after fight.
Joshua should be trained to the point where any slight trigger that this is about to happen, he knows what’s happening and can act accordingly (defensively or later in the fight once he is more comfortable, countering)
Can understand why he wouldnt want to fight in Scotland, but generally I do prefer it to be in one of the fighters backyards over a neutral venue because you lose so much atmosphere in a neutral location.
Wilder wasn't hurt at all, he was rabbit punched, and then Breazeale hit him and Wilder rolled it with his shoulder, and appeared off balance.
Nah he stumbled after a good shot and then back off and looked for a clinch (which Breazeale gladly accepted)
He disproves the idea that skinny legs = not powerful legs
Look at guys like Usain Bolt or the majority of NBA athletes. Proper bean poles but explosive as ****.
Basically everybody was blindsided by Fury taking on Wilder at that stage in his comeback, and Joshua hasnt had a look in with either of them since.
Both sides offered big money to make the fight last year, but both wanted to gain control of the promotion. Control neither side was willing to give up. Since then Wilder and Fury have fought and are going to fight again. Hearn has made offers to both teams but, obviously, they are going to rematch so it makes no odds.
I dont really see what more they can do at the moment tbh. Fury messed it up for them. It was a crazy move that I many other people felt would end badly for him, but fair play he got himself into great shape and put on a brilliant show. Now Joshua is on the sidelines for a while while they battle it out.
I will say though, they cant keep doing this for ever. If they have another close fight, I dont want to see a 3rd just yet. At some point they need to fight Joshua and sort this HW division out properly
