Spence
Needs to cut off the ring and go to the body to slow Mikey down and land his power
Mikey
Needs to fight off the backfoot and pivot Spence as he comes in.
My breakdown:
Easter has a 4" reach advantage and much greater hand-speed than Spence and got dominated by Garcia. A LOT of casuals overlook stuff like this. If Mikey can execute his gameplan Spence should be in for a long night. If he ****s up and gets caught it will be a short one.
I'll elaborate more if I get actual responses and not fanboy caca.
Garcia should back up early with an eye on landing a straight right to score a knockdown if Spence gets overeager or squares up, causing Spence to overthink his attacks from that point and leaving an opening for a Garcia left hook as Spence expects a right. Won't work though he's in too deep even with some potential early success.
you're not gonna back straight up fighting Spence and expect to have a good night, once he gets moving forward it's over if you are a sitting duck. I think Mikey knows and will be fighting mobility. If he doesn't he is insane and will get slaughtered over 8 rds.
Yeah it shouldnt be sanctioned. Wtf are casuals gonna think when they tune in and see one guy fighting someone half his size. Spence is going to put on size from the weigh in too and he already looks miles bigger
Said the golovkin fan boy lmao
Spence needs to throw heavy feints in order to get Mikey to bite and counter, make him miss and counter to the body. If Spence applies this approach he would make it a very difficult night for Garcia but this is a level of skill we have not seen from him in any of his fights.
to add more color commentary
Garcia will need to backshift if Spence starts stepping in aggressively and then pivot him.
The key to beating Spence is controlling distance and countering.
I would say how this fight would go but Mikey Garcia is one of those guys who can easily change his style for his opponent. And you can't predict the gameplan. Spence will be spence.
Mikey doesnt need to move much though unless spence is rushing. Like always with spence it will start as a boxing match at center ring. Garcia can stand with spence considering he judges the range and respects speed initially, otherwise just use small little step backs. Garcia needs to take the angles and fire off them like vs dejan. Needs to work variety in his right hand, sometimes a wide hook, short hook, sometimes a straight. And keep sharp with counters or the threat to give spence something to think about. Garcia's inside game is not much of an issue, spence can fight inside but doesnt often fancy it and uses it usualy as a counter to being clinched or uses it as a small oppurtunity for work before pulling back to midrange to continue.
Spence should just try to work garcia, his big strength is stamina. We've seen garcia slow down.
I think it will be a good competitive fight.
I don't think Garcia plans to let Spence get close, if I were Garcia I would pivot to Spence's weak angle to force to either punch across his stance or turn to square up where he can eat counters as he does. This is next level boxing I am talking about and Mikey has shown brilliance in the ring, I think he can make it a fight tonight.

This is a mismatch. Even if Mikey fights a great fight, at some point the weight and relentlessness of Spence is going to get to him and he wont be able to get Spence's respect to give himself some breathing space.
This pretty much sums it up. We can analyze any given fight to death; but at the end of the day, a mismatch is a mismatch. Spence is going to impose his size on Mikey at some point and he’ll break through. I think Garcia will be proving something if he even makes it to the final bell.
Theres nothing really to analyse, the far bigger fighter is going to crush the far smaller one. That's why spence was 1/8 favourite when the fight got announced. But then people start overanalysing and start to believe the hype.I think that is what happened. The 8 to 1 were correct. My odds are 100 to 1 for Spence. My is is a huge fan favorite now because he dares to be great. Spence has become the evil cowardly bully to many for picking on poor little brave Mikey. Brook moved up two weight classes to fight a killer middleweight and nobody ever said Brook dared to be great. Why not?
This fight isn't even worth discussing, Spence is WAY too big, and will utterly dominate.
Fight shouldn't even be happening. The fight would not be happening if any other top welterweight or their management had offered to fight Spence but they didn't. It was a great high paying fight for Spence so he took it. TS to those who trash him for saying yes. If he had turned the fight down the same people would trash him for ducking Mikey.

Spence is much faster and better in every way than Easter. You are a casual Mikey fanboy caca yourself. Garcia is getting knocked out quickly and easily. MAN DOWN! MIKEY DOWN!

Spence is 1/1 for KO/TKO/DQ in the UK, and Im going for it. Cant see how Mikey gets away from this one.

Easter is tall but he doesnt fight tall, he is also a bean pole. Spence is bigger and heavier all round, while also being skilled, powerful, with great stamina. Garcia's only forays into the world above 135 were at 140 vs contenders and he looked like he might be hitting his limit already, even though he dominated both fights. If you paid close attention he looked bothered, especially to the body, getting hit by bigger guys. Spence is gonna be into the 160's on fight night and he is a brilliant body puncher.
Your tactics for Garcia are right, he needs to be on the back foot making sure to pivot into the space in centre ring if he feels he is getting too close to the ropes. His issue is that the traditional way to move vs southpaw is to pivot out to the left, but Spence has a brutal right hook to the body. If Mikey chooses to go the other way then Spence has a nice left as well. He is going to find that he wont be able to get away from Spence, the body shots will slow his feet down and Spence will get him to the ropes and maul him, just like he did to the much bigger (than Garcia) Brook who, though not as skilled as Mikey, fought in a similar style with similar attributes.

Mikey is in big trouble man. He has no inside game that I can think of; Moreover, Spence thrives on attacking the body. In addition, Mikey looks very round and soft around the midsection.
Spence cuts off the ring while backing him up with a strong and stiff jab while forcing him into some very uncomfortable exchanges along the ropes while systematically breaking him down to the body.
Mikey must keep the action in the center of the ring. In addition, he needs to use his speed and timing to offset Erroll Spence, Jr's timing by using his legs and staying off the ropes. Also lastly, he must beat Spence to the punch and get his punches off first.
Easter has a 4" reach advantage
Yeah well Easter is also famous for not using his natural gifts too his advantage so i wouldn't read too much into that fight,Spence not gon let Garcia come in like Easter
