First time Mercer has ever been dropped to the head,
I believe the KD vs Holyfield was a head shot a compo if I remember right. And he was closer to prime.
Louis
Frazier
Tyson
Holyfield
Walcott
Walcott is a REALLY good pick/idea nice!.He had the spin away hook like no one else threw. After he finally got a win over Ezz Charles with that shot Charles called it a cheap shot because it was so unorthodox lol.Really nice pick that I did not even think of until I seen your list.It was defiantly unique that's for sure.
I totally agree with you about Frazier, he has to be on the list.
I don't agree with you about Wlad. His straight right, his jab and his left hook were all brilliant.
Watching him hook off his jab was a sight to behold.
His right was great IF he could touch you with jab otherwise he was hesitant to throw it.His hook was the 1st good hook I seen from a guy 6-6 or over(the giants)but would not put in my top 5 or so list imo.
wlad? and no joe frazier? :lol1: :lol1:
6'7, 250lb, 8% bodyfat boxer throwing an accurate, powerful and swift left hook is a sight to behold man, a guy that huge hitting people like that? It's crazy.
That said Smokin Joe, phewwwwwwww.... being hit by one of them left nukes? How did Ali get up...............
patterson, frazier, tyson, morrison, holyfield would be my picks.
but you could have louis, tua or cooney in there as well. walcott isn't a bad pick either.
wlads hook wasn't nearly consistent enough to be on the list. or versatile enough for that matter, dude couldnt even throw a liver shot and had very few set ups. just one range too. terrible pick..
frazier and holyfield in particular could find a million ways to get that punch in. different spots, set ups, range, angles etc.. thats a great hooker!
I pretty well agree with this. if someone wanted to say wlad's straight right is among the best in hw history, I wouldn't argue much, but not the hook.
patterson, frazier, tyson, morrison, holyfield would be my picks.

The problem is Wlad was so boring most people probably haven't even watched 20% of his career but trust me Wlad could whip that left hook in like he was drawing a Picasso.
Forgot who he was against but I remember him laying someone out with a triple left hook.
People forget Wlads the first truly new age monster heavyweight. 6'7 250lbs and 8% bodyfat, phenomenal athlete but sadly completely safety first and horribly boring due to a lack of confidence in his own ability to take a punch which looking back at the times he's been stopped or hurt was him getting clipped, panicking and throwing all of his boxing ability out the window while he gets swarmed with wild haymakers and power shots.
patterson, frazier, tyson, morrison, holyfield would be my picks.

When did anybody lay out, stone cold unconscious 2 heavyweights in one year with a left hook, and put to the ground for the first time another guy with a granite chin with the same; all in the same year. In happened in 2018.
No love for Louis, Holyfield or Walcott so far.
Louis threw every punch extremely well, but if his right was a sledge hammer, his left hook was the off switch for his opponents.
Holyfield had a brilliant technical hook, very versatile. Not super powerful, but really textbook technique.
Walcotts was well set up, and also brutal.

Good to see Arnold Cream getting some love.
I definitely agree on Louis and Holyfield. Louis delivered nearly every punch textbook and had great execution and power in his left. I think Holyfield probably has the second best technique and combinations in the divisions history behind Louis and his left hook was fantastic.
I have Joe Frazier as the greatest left hook guy in the divisions history and Tyson up there in the top 5 too for sure.

By todays comparisons, Louis and Walcott didn't have devastating left hooks, they could barely even be considered heavyweights.
Holyfield on the other hand had a tremendous left hook, and I considered including him, but his didn't pack as much heat as the others mentioned in the original list.
