There's no need to feel sorry for a great fighter like Barrera. Or any fighter for that matter. They know what the risks are and they still do it so instead we should commend them for their courage. It's good to empathize but feeling sorry or pity for people is kind of shitty.
This clown has been holding the keys to the kingdom for how many years? And how long ago was he even an elite fighter?
Hell no I don't feel sorry for him. I do feel sorry for all the boxing fans who've had to see the great fighters of this era fight this asshole to legitimize themselves.
I mean seriously Floyd Mayweather feels after beating Oscar that he can retire because he's accomplished everything? LOLWTF?
What a joke.
I agree hopefully now we can start seeing the meaningful fights happen.
Yea honestly it's felt like a nightmare these past few years. Pacquiao just stepped up and saved the sport.
He screwed a number of his big fights. I think most of the animosity towards Oscar is from seeing him prosper for putting out less than other fighters. When the dude who isn't even on anyone's P4P list is making the most money, something is seriously wrong with the sport.
It was a pretty boring PPV but I did just witness boxing history so that made up for it.
Also i'll support any and all public exposure for Manny. He manages to give back for every dollar you spend on him.
If Margarito keeps winning ultimately Floyd will have to do something. The great thing about "Greatness" is how quickly people want to tear it down. This guy keeps it up and Floyd will never hear the end of it from everyone.
Not saying that it's something that would motivate him to come back and fight, but he's gonna get pissed.
Jim Lampley announcing any De La Hoya fight = lololol
"OSCAR CONNECTING WITH A RAGING FLURRY OF PUNCHES IN BUNCHES"
"whitaker playing to the crowd..."
WTF!?lol
I started laughing when I saw the "experience" of tonight's judges. One dude had only four and another had none lawls.
Close fight but saw that decision coming a mile away.
I dont know, I think Mayweather has lost his luster..retiring abruptly after not really doing anything major then the WWE garbage, not to mention he is not an exciting fighter in the ring. he really should come back and fight a top fighter before he gets a fight with Pacman. Im a serious boxing fan and I dont care if he stays retired.
His ego might be his single greatest weakness. If he doesn't take a fight before Pac, then Manny has a total shot at beating him. Hell it would make it much more competative if he loses a bit of his polish.
Ali came back, slowed down, and it made for some of the best fights ever b/c guys could finally hit him with something.
Also Mayweather's competition is a big part of the performance he's gonna give. It's a shitty thing cause I've always thought he could have destroyed some of the guys he decisioned but alas that's how he is.
He's promoted by DON KING and all this bad shit happens to him? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?
Or actually nvm, Don prolly bet everything he had against his own fighter and bought the judges against him lolol.
It was the same for me, me and my friends were like, "**** It went the full 12, and I told them that even Collazo won, he was goint to get robbed", and tadda!!!!!! Men this is a ****ing disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's pretty sad when even the fans know that one guy doesn't stand a chance on the cards.
I doubt a rematch happens, but if it does, throw it on the Pac-Hatton card. Both Berto and Collazo deserve the exposure and more importantly, the fat paycheck. They earned it tonight.
that would be a great idea!
Yea too bad it'll be a bunch of ****in nobodies with shitcan fights.
But yea i'll still pay $50 or whatever it is now for the main event.
I remember reading an old Dempsey quote about the Jess Willard fight. Basically he said he mauled the shit out of Willard cause he was afraid the bigger man was going to kill him. So he made sure to do it to him first.
It probably depends on the situation. If you clearly outclass a guy then there's a higher level of consciousness/awareness and you might be inclined to not go all out. But if the other dude is giving you a fight, that mixture of fear, adrenaline, pain and all the other crazy shit will probably kick in your instincts to literally put him down.
All in all you don't play boxing like other sports. I wouldn't look to the ref for shit. Remember that moment from Gatti-Mayweather? Yea **** that noise.
This is like saying a book is great/awful when you're only a little more than half way through it. Let the man finish his work and then make your pronouncements.
As is, I'm just glad to be watching Pacquiao fight. It's really been a privilege to see such a great boxer in my lifetime. Enjoy it while it lasts cause we all know it won't last long.
I love the muslim generalizations in this thread amongst much of the other utter stupidity mentioned by some of you.
As for Black Jesus, dude don't even bother. Those other two are completely ignoring most of your posts and just sounding off about "support the troops".
Anyway, this thread failed to deliver.
If you pay attention to Rogan at any time when he's not in that Fear Factor sketch on Chapelle's Show, you need to seriously reconsider the things you care about in life. That is all.
