Wow....
I wasn't to impressed with Jacobs... Another win on his belt.. He should step up pretty soon.. He is taking the right direction though, so I can't say anything about that.. A couple of more fights like this and he'll be ready.
Juan Manuel Lopez... Wow.. I had predicted that Juan Manuel Lopez would feel him out in round one and cruise to a 7-8th round KO, but Lopez would only stalk Medina to the ropes and unleashed a devastating combination to the head then the body to drop him and end the fight a little later on in round 1. When will Lopez get his time to shine? I mean like seriously... He is ready! HE IS READY! The guy is very powerful, and looked like a beast in his past 3 fights. At the right time as well.. Right when he is stepping up. Great stuff! Lopez has a bright future.
Victor Ortiz fought well. Wow what a left hand.. A potential superstar.. He sounded like Oscar De La Hoya when he spoke.. That's who he reminded me of a bit... Fought well tonight, but I never knew about his background..... Did his parents abandon him? or did they pass away? I'll keep an eye on him.... Im pretty sure HBO will have him on a BAD card for next year.
The main event.... Holy ****ing shit. I was going for Manny to win this by a close SD, but he just tee'd off on DLH all night! Since round 1! De La Hoya couldn't answer back! Since round 1 when Manny landed that left hand (which I stated in my thread would be a problem) It was all history from right there. Manny started connecting and got confident (Also what I said in my thread "That Manny must get his respect early on.) Not only did Manny gained his respect... He took De La Hoya's heart. Unbelievable! Who would've thought this? You can never count anyone out in a boxing match. Freddie Roach was on point, when I thought he was just saying that to hype the fight, but what I seen Roach working with Manny on the HBO show was slipping the jab and throw to the body, and a lot of head movement. Manny went to and then class and passed his final with an A+! Manny would've probably made DLH take a knee if he had thrown body shots during his flurries late in the fight. He would throw a hook and DLH would lower his hands, thats when I would yell "THROW A ****ING UPPERCUT THEN A BODY SHOT"
Great stuff from Manny.. Im very happy for him and happy myself! Manny has motivated a lot of people.. He has motivated me... Never count out the little people moving up. Styles make fights, and age can also be a factor if matched up with a style that will make you work even harder. Also... When was the last time fought a southpaw? Pernell Whitaker? I mean come on.. He should have fought a southpaw prior to this fight. Manny took his heart away..... I can't believe that shit. Speed and power. Made him quit.
I mean who would've thought of this? Manny deserves respect. A LOT of it! he is the P4P kind bar none! No one has done in this era what he has done. Accept it.. If not you are just making yourself look stupid.
I want to see
Juan Manuel Lopez Vs Izzy Vasquez or Rafael Marquez
Manny Pacquiao Vs Ricky Hatton
MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
PS: ALSO Boxrec better change that P4P list. That shit is out of date. No way Calzaghe stays at number 1. Sorry.
Bro, say a casual fan doesn't know any of the fighters and just wants a good night of boxing, what do you think their reaction would be?
NONE OF THE FIGHTS WERE COMPETITIVE!
I would say this is the greatest PPV for Pac fans but WORST for the rest.
Still, great writeup and goodluck in your boxing career!
Chances are if somebody's a casual boxing fan they rather see ass whippings than competitive technical matches.
Exactly! Me too! I thought Medina would take Juanma late into the fight, but he just DESTORYED him. I didn't expect that shit... That's why I loved tonights card. I actually paid to watch Juanma and the main event. The other fights were just there.
Yeah, I also ordered the fight because of Juanma. I am still dissapointed that the Argentinian gave up from the sound of the bell. He did not throw punches and he did not even get hit cleanly.
I still think it was one of the worst PPV's I've bought :/
Who won has nothing to do with it. It was not an entertaining card, all the undercards were mismatchs and Oscar vs Pacquiao was not entertaining at all. If I hit a punching bag for 8 rounds I would have been more entertained than that.
It was trully amazing to watch what Pacquiao accomplished, but to me, it was not entertaining at all.
The fight I really wanted to watch was Juanma's. Being Puerto Rican I was happy that Juanma won but still I expected the Argentinian to present more of a challenge so he could "test" and provide "experience" to Juanma. The Argentinian posed no challenge, no treat and he did not even get punched cleanly.
To me it has been one of the worst PPV's I have bought. I paid to watch Emannuel, Merchant and Lampley talk thant to actually watch good, exciting, competitive fights.

its just u imo . . . i guess u really enjoyed the 5 mins of terrible mismatches in the unders and the hours of bullshit talking instead of good competitive boxing ...
I prefer domination over competitive sometimes. It's rare to get fights like this, when one of the fighters is actually the underdog and just POW... Dominates.
When was the last time we had a competitive PPV? You only get that when the best in the division face off, but we don't get fights like that all the time. No one wants to fight these young lions!
I enjoyed the event. The undercard showcased some of the future of boxing & they had knockout wins. In the main event Paq put on a great performance & got the stoppage (I thought De Le Hoya would win coming into the fight). HBO & the promoters involved did a pretty good job tonight & I'm glad contributed to the event.
Can't wait for the Berto fight. Collazo is a great person & good athlete, but I hope Berto dominates him.
It was a pretty boring PPV but I did just witness boxing history so that made up for it.
Also i'll support any and all public exposure for Manny. He manages to give back for every dollar you spend on him.
Only if you were going for DLH.
What's so bad about it?
All fighters I was rooting for won, and won BIG!
What's not to love? Especially the main event?
Domination.
Juan Manuel Lopez and Manny Pacman DOMINATED!
Victor Ortiz did great, I just hope he gets a big fight by 09. Daniel Jacobs is rising slowly.

At first I thought the fights would be competitive, but many people were shocked today (the fans). I thought Medina would take Lopez to the distance, but he proved me wrong.. it just shows that these fighters are ready for a step up. They need a challenge.. I thought it was great today.
Or is it just me?
My boys loved the card. They thought Manny was going to die today because he looked small and heard that he started his career at 106, and just dominating De La Hoya showed them that Boxing is crazy and anything can happen. Perfect showcase.

all the fighters i wanted to win, won . . . but tonight was one of the worst boxing cards i have ever watched in all my life. terrible night for boxing, millions of people watching and not one good or competitive fight . . . dana white must be thrilled.

All of my friends that were watching loved it. They loved the knockouts. The destruction of De La Hoya was even worse!
Cause who doesn't know De La Hoya? They were shocked! So was I!
Manny is GOD. :bows on knees:
Thanks bro....I'm working hard on it!
