I personally think that Taylor would try to jab all night, and say away from Lacy. I don't see that happening. Lacy would eventually catch up to Taylor and knock him the f*** out. Hops had him hurt a couple times, and I know Lacy is a way more devastating puncher than Hopkins at this stage in his career. Also, Lacy spars with Winky Wright. You think Jermain's jab would give Lacy issues? No way no how... Lacy by mid rounds KO...
Emanuel Steward: "The last world-class, natural Middleweight that Hopkins fought was Roy Jones, and he lost every round."
Emanuel Steward is a crazy old ba$tard! He still thinks Wlad is best HW on the planet. Get a life! :boxing:
That's just not true, sorry. He doesn't choose to fight ageing past their prime fighters, he has always wanted to fight the best but can only beat who actually wants to fight him.
Sounds exactly like a De La Hoya fan, but even DLH has been in some fights with live bodies! I think Calzaghe has skills, and that the fight with Lacy will be a good one while it lasts. I just dont see him beating Lacy at this stage in his career. He should have fought Lacy 2 years ago when he was still green. Then again that would be what we "expect" from Joe. Who knows maybe we will all be eating crow on 3/5. As long as its a good fight I honestly could care less. Plus its FREE!
:boxing:
Does the Americans overrate Mayweather!!!
No, We DOES not overrate Mayweather!! LOL... To me he is P4P King right now! Has been IMO since RJJ got knocked from his perch.
Kostya had his best moments with Hatton on the outside. PBF is the far superior boxer (over Kostya) when it comes to the sweet science so I think he would have similar success in that aspect. PBF also wouldn't let Hatton bum rush him, and rough house him the way Kostya did. I believe that Kostya couldn't handle that frantic pace/rough housing at his age. Floyd would be able to though, because he is young and has much better hand/foot speed. You can bet the farm Hatton would get tagged AT WILL trying to get on the inside. If you look at it (the fight)for what it is PBF does just about EVERYTHING better than Hatton. Defense, boxing, movement...etc. PBF is in just as good of shape if not better than Hatton, because we all have heard the Fatton jokes! Hatton might have a SLIGHT edge in power, but no way he punches as hard as Castillo, Corrales or Gatti! I believe the Hatton fight would be a mismatch honestly. I only see challanges for PBF at 147 or higher. No one 140 or below could do much with Floyd IMO. :boxing:
Wlad won't win he sucks monkey ass even if Peter is unproven he has to be better than Corey Sanders.
The interesting thing to me about this fight is that Wlad has sparred Peter in the past, and supposedly handled him pretty easy. True Peter has a lot more experience now, and Wlad has gone downhill a little bit. I just think Wlad will use his size/jab to set up a late round KO or stoppage. Peter is still pretty green, and has a lot to learn. I dont think Wlad would have taken this fight if he didnt think he could handle Peter. Peter always has that punchers chance or Wlad could collapse again... LOL.. Interesting fight! This is probably the most interesting HW fight in the past 2-3 years IMO
:boxing:
i dont understand,?? are you saying, when wlad was training, they got peter as a sparring partner? can sum one explain to me what that means,??
Yes, he was training for a fight in 2001 or 2002 can't remember, but Sam Peter was one of his sparring partners. Wlad supposedly made him look foolish just by using that jab of his. In all honesty Peter has never been tested by anyone with a jab like Wlad's. If Wlad plays it safe, and uses his size/jab he will win. Only way Peter wins is if Wlad gets gassed like in the Brewster fight or if Peter lands one of his haymakers. Wlad KNOWS that Peter is probably the hardest puncher he has faced so he will be a lot more cautious than normal. If he just boxes, and doesn't try to force anything I say late KO or stoppage.
Talking about the Portland attendance is not necessarily relevant. The location was chosen not because it is a hotbed of boxing interest, but in order to introduce PBF as the newest Nike/Brand Jordan fighter. Still, he has not developed the fan base he should have given his skill and resume. If he could get hatton to agree to an american ref, he should make a bout in old trafford (the manchester United Soccer stadium) for next summer as that would be his best opportunity to make huge money.
Even then though the only time I see PBF in a sell out is when the other fighter is a bigger name...ie Gatti or Chico. He sells out his hometown, but thats it.
zab is an undercard boxer dude
I know you saw how empty that Portland stadium was homie! I love to watch PBF do his thing, and he is P4P #1, but he cant draw FLIES. Only if another popular boxer is on the card will he sell. In the case with Zab I think 50/50 would be fair, cause Zab don't draw $hit either. PBF might be the "draw" cause of his P4P status, but Zab is undisputed champion so its hard for me to see PBF getting parity on this one.
:boxing:
Zab took $100,000 to fight Corey Spinks he should have no problem takin short money for the chance to beat the #1 pound for pounf fighter in the sport.
That was to avenge a loss, and to be undisputed! He did that so he wouldnt have to take the short end of the stick. I say 50/50. One is P4P best in most peoples eyes, and the other is undisputed. Each has something the other wants as Zab has never even been top 3 P4P, and PBF has never been unified champ. Plus the damn fight makes too much sense! Just do 50/50, and do the damn thing.
I hope Zab takes him. I know everyone wants to see Hatton and Mayweather. But Mayweather didn't look as fast against Mitchell as he did against Gatti. I don't know if it's because Mitchell is faster than Gatti or because Mayweather wasn't up for this fight. I think Zab has got the hand speed and the defense to hang with Mayweather.
Zab might have an edge in power, but thats about it IMO. PBF is a better pure boxer, better D, faster hands and a WAY better CHIN! Dont make me bust out Zab doing the chicken dance clip!
He didn't want to be TOO trim for this fight for a reason! Anyone that can't see that he put on muscle and lost fat is blind. Look at his fucking face for crying out loud! Got this from an article where they were interview Blanks about Toney... This is what he said:
“James is a tremendous athlete already. My job is to make him a better conditioned athlete which will raise the level of his boxing performance,” Blanks explained. “He’s up to 335 pounds on the bench press. He is really strong and a very hard worker. I’ll put him up against anybody when it comes to his work ethic.”
Another critical area in which Blanks and Arthur are monitoring Toney is in his diet, as they try to tighten up his midsection and help his endurance. But Arthur cautions against expectations of seeing a slimmer, lighter Toney.
“Sam Peter is a big man at around 270 pounds,” Arthur observed. “You’re not going to be able to withstand his power and size giving up 50 pounds. I told Billy that I’m not too worried about how he looks physically as long as he performs to his maximum capability. We have him on a special diet now and are watching his intake. That is most important. James really doesn’t eat a whole lot. It’s just not the right stuff that he orders. We now have him on a good regimen.”
So all of yall that think this will be the same old Toney are mistaken IMO. The guy beat Peter last time in TERRIBLE shape.. I'm expecting it to be worse this time. Either by wide UD or by TKO stoppage ala Toney VS Holyfield.
Nobody ever claimed he was in style. Case and Point:
Ring Entrance Music.
Case in point that fuckin duck tail he sports! That Aussie is def no slave to fashion thats for damn sure!
The best part was when Mayorga stuck out his chin, and Vern popped him good a few times. Then RM just smiled at him... the look on Vern's face is fuckin classic!
On the flip I also thought it was classic when he did the same thing against Tito, and got waylayed! Tried to play it off with that Ashlee Simpson lookin chicken dance, but you could tell Tito buzzed him with one of those shots for sure.
I am convinced the DLH will knock Mayweather the fuck out DLH showed me last that he does have good power and Floyd can't handle it even with his speed.Having said all that I would like to see Floyd win but I don't see it happening.
Yeah remember Tito was a 3 to 1 fav over Winky after his "awesome P4P" KO performance of Mayorga. If you are an "A" level fighter, and need a "name" to look good against Ricardo is your man. I would still favor Mayweather in a fight with DLH, because all those openings for punches that got to Mayorga wouldn't be there with PBF. I am not trying to take anything away from ODLH's performance as it was one of his better wins, but to say he KO's Mayweather based off his KO win over Mayorga is fucking delusional. ODLH has ALWAYS had problems with pure boxers... Sweetpea, Mosley, Hopkins, Sturm... Mayweather to me is like Sweetpea with a punch, and that doesn't bode well for Oscar IMO. I'll play it safe, and say PBF wins on the cards (although a TKO isn't out of the question) if the fight even comes off.
I see way too many parrallels between Pac and Tito. Both are representing their island countries with huge cult like followings. Both have that seek and destroy type boxing style. Often times they're called one dimensional because of their high offensive style and great KO power.
I just have a feeling, a boxer will box Pacquiao to a lopsided victoring shattering Pacquaio's illusion of perfection like Bernard Hopkins did to Tito. Like Winky did to Tito.
Juan Manuel Marquez already proved this! Take away that first round, and Pacman gets his ass handed to him. Lucky for him he built enough of a lead on the cards to get a "draw." He better stay the hell away from Zahir Raheem, because we will see a Winky-Tito type a$$ whoopin once again.
:boxing:
Yeah, thats what Morrales and Rocky Juarez both thought as well. Anyone catch that Rocky Juarez/Raheem fight? That was one of the biggest rob jobs I have seen in awhile.
I think Judah will win this time out as well. You could tell it took him a few rounds to figure Spinks out last time, and he got behind because of it. Once he did figure him out it was all Judah until he got caught off balance, and knocked down. Even then it was still all Judah until the final bell rang. I think you are going to see more of the same from the end of the last fight. I have a feeling this fight might end by KO... maybe 8th round.
Yeah, I remember all the Corrales fans out there trying to tell me how much harder he hits than PBF. Remember guys it don't matter what kind of power you have if you can't hit the mofo. Floyd is too slick, and would TOTALLY outclass Cotto. Word has it Cotto's pops was using Henry as a measuring stick for his son against Floyd. I hope Floyd didn't scare them off! Kostya would be a good fight for Floyd though. I would love to see that. I also believe Kostya would flatten Cotto as well. The kid (Cotto) has good skills, but thats it honestly. Everyone that is comparing him (Cotto) to Tito is in for a rude awakening if he ever decided to fight either one of these guys. Again.. just my opinion.
Does anyone have the pic from yesterday where Mayorga is looking at Tito, and is grabbing his nuts? That $hit had me laughing my ass off. Whether you like Mayorga or not you have to admit he knows how to talk $hit with the best of them.
Um...He did crack the $hit out of 6 Heads Lewis in case yall forgot. The man has an iron chin, and can punch. He has no fear, and neither does Tito. Only difference Tito has a suspect chin. Both guys are easy to find, and will be right in front of each other. This will be a fun fight to watch while it lasts. May the best man win.
Spinks is MUCH harder to find that Tito is. He also should have lost that fight IMO. He didnt do anything in that fight, but paw, and circle. Nothing he landed did ANYTHING, and IMO he did nothing to take the champs belts from him. Tito has a weak chin, and has been away for 2 1/2 years with NO TUNE UP fight. Mayorga has been active. Has a strong chin, power in both hands, and isnt afraid to take the fight to a rusty Tito. Whom ever wins it will be by KO, and I say it happens early. Either way, but dont compare Tito's boxing ability to Spinks, cause they are WAY different fighters.
Does anyone have a link to a good article about Roy testing positive for roids? I have a friend that seems to think this didnt happen when it really did.
Winky won't win. That's crazy believe me I have done solid research here on Fight Night for playstation 2 and X box. Winky never beats trinidad.
Yeah, and Tarver never beats Roy either :D
