Is the new slimmer Toney a good thing or not?I mean,of course it may allow him to be more agile and make it easier to outwork Peter. But won't it also make him more vulnerable to Peters power shots?Which he didn't seem to take too well in their first fight. What do you guys think?
He didn't want to be TOO trim for this fight for a reason! Anyone that can't see that he put on muscle and lost fat is blind. Look at his fucking face for crying out loud! Got this from an article where they were interview Blanks about Toney... This is what he said:
“James is a tremendous athlete already. My job is to make him a better conditioned athlete which will raise the level of his boxing performance,” Blanks explained. “He’s up to 335 pounds on the bench press. He is really strong and a very hard worker. I’ll put him up against anybody when it comes to his work ethic.”
Another critical area in which Blanks and Arthur are monitoring Toney is in his diet, as they try to tighten up his midsection and help his endurance. But Arthur cautions against expectations of seeing a slimmer, lighter Toney.
“Sam Peter is a big man at around 270 pounds,” Arthur observed. “You’re not going to be able to withstand his power and size giving up 50 pounds. I told Billy that I’m not too worried about how he looks physically as long as he performs to his maximum capability. We have him on a special diet now and are watching his intake. That is most important. James really doesn’t eat a whole lot. It’s just not the right stuff that he orders. We now have him on a good regimen.”
So all of yall that think this will be the same old Toney are mistaken IMO. The guy beat Peter last time in TERRIBLE shape.. I'm expecting it to be worse this time. Either by wide UD or by TKO stoppage ala Toney VS Holyfield.
You can't be a professional athelete and only eat 1500 calories a day. How is your body suppposed to recover from all the training and have energy? This sounds like "spin" to me, like when the media says some celebrity has 3% bodyfat, although it's a scientific fact that a percentage that low can only be found in a corpse.
Yeah, those 1500 calories a day are probably what Toney called 'breakfast'
Personally, I'm glad Toney gained a pound, and he does look somewhat more muscular.
I say this because a lot of the people who struggle to lose weight get KTFO or have trouble in their upcoming fights...
Having said that, I don't understand though...
If Toney only ate 1500 calories for an entire month with fitness guru Billy Blanks, in addition to presumably lifting weights, running and training with Freddie Roach (7 hours a day, as reported)...How do you not lose weight?

Because he was probably in the 250s when he started.

Cause he did not eat 1500 calories a day ;)

I think it will help him endurance wise. Later in the fight though still fighting well you could notice the fatigue. I thought Toney took Peter's punches well. He was stunned once and that is when he held on to the rope. But the other time you can't really tell because Toney plays possum to lure you in.
Do you mean he's heavier than Sam Peter?Or heavier than usual?Of course with more muscle this time.
1pound heavier than he himself was last time, but more muscular.
Better he's lookin fitter and he is actually heavier so will absorb the blows better
