there alot of question marks about peter, things we dont know... we know he can punch, but can he take a punch? can he handle a jab? can he handle it when some offense comes his way? his ability to take a punch is probably the biggest unknown factor... let's also not forget peter's inability to KO shufford or his camp deciding not to fight JC gomez on HBO...
it is possible that he walks thru wlad, but its also possible that he freezes up when wlad hits him... wlad is a terrific offensive fighter and peter will have to go thru at least his jab to get him... there are too many unknown variables to make a solid prediction on this fight, of course we can speculate on what we think, but its a not a fight to lay any money on...
becuase of the unknown elements i think its bad fight for wlad and hope he doesnt take it, at least not 2 fights removed from losing to LB... if he takes the fight and loses, everyone will write him off, even though he may have lost to the future of the division... if he wins, then he beat a dangerous puncher, but someone that was unproven and hasnt beat anyone...

you know peter is the favorite in this fight... wlad is the under dog, more money is being bet on peter than on wlad... this also an elimination fight for the ibf title, so alot is on the line and wlad does have alot to gain...
kinda disagree as far as more money being bet on peter...
from my experience of what i've seen, morep pl in a toss em' up fight, ppl bet with the underdog. reason being, they will end up making more money.
like with this fight... peter IS the favourite, but they end up making mor cash if wlad wins, and tht is VERY possible
...wlad does have alot to gain...
Not in terms of respect in the boxing community which, frankly, he needs more than a heavyweight belt. Ruiz and Brewster have those. That's not exactly stellar boxing company to keep...

That was really stupid of Williams to drop his hands like that.
Could have been an easy win for Williams, now we have to wait for someone to fuck Peter up, glad it's gonna be soon lol In fairness to Williams, he was spanking Peter up until that point, and he ducked out and to the side. Everyone had pegged Peter as a straighforwad brawler, but he had the awareness to bring that left all the way across his body and floor Williams.
If this fight goes long, I think it will definitely be Wlad on points. Early, I would pick Peter.
I kind of want to lean towards Peter in this fight, because there's no real pressure on him. He's not supposed to be able to beat Wlad. It's win-win. If he beats Wlad, he has accomplished more than he was supposed to. If he loses, it doesn't really set his acareer back any at all, because everyone know that even the weak-chinned Wlad is a higher level of competition than he's fought thus far.
For Wlad, this is pretty much lose-lose. If he loses to Peter, his career is over, and likely in brutal fashion. If he wins, who has he beat? Really, Peter is no bigger an opponent than the weak-ass Cuban he beat last time out. He will get no more glory from the victory than that.
Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows that it should be at least 3-4 more fight before Peter is stepped up against someone with the skills and resume that Wlad has, and that his management is looking at the payday rather than the best interests of their fighter. They are also thinking that Peter may just pull it off and fatten their wallets even more, and he may, but I still think it's a bad move on thier part because if he does knock Wlad out, then he will have to fight a heavyweight with talent AND a chin faster than he should be doing so.
I wish I did. That KO was brutal. I thought Williams was dead for a couple of minutes. Brutal.

Good point. I guess it's just a gut feeling. Peter has had so much positive momentem going right now. I don't see someone with Wlad's skill being able to stop it. Sooner or later Peter will land a big punch and we all know what happens to Wlad when that occurs. Now if it was Vitali now that's a different story at this point in Sam Peter's career he isn't ready for the like's of Vitali Klitchko.
Hell, did you see that guy that fought Briggs before he fought Mercer?
The way he talked, i actually believed he had a shot ( I didn't know who hw was), until they started boxing lol
Peter has had a few KOs, but anybody can say anything. That guy that fought Briggs spoke very positively, as if he just knew he was going to win, as most undefeated fighters do. Then he got beat the fuck up when he tried to fight Briggs lol
This is a great fight to bet. It is easy money.
well i hope youre talking about wlad.
i have 3 grand on him, i look at it as a business decision, ive never bet on boxing before, not one dollar.
If Wlad had any balls and business sense he would take the fight with Peter and go for the knockout. If he accomplished this, his stock would go up and he might get a title shot. Lastly, how much confidence does this guy need to build up? He just beat that some guy not too long ago by an easy KO.I see him taking one more fight. And his stock would deffinately go up if he can take the bomb on the chin and beat Peter. I don't think he is going to beat Peter. Peter is confident and strong and by the looks of his last fight, he seems to be in a little better shape. I hope the fight happens but I don't think it will.
Wlad will not take this fight. He is hurt from those losses and has doubts of himself. He will take someone a little weaker to build confidence. IMO. I don't blame him and that's probably what I would do.

Great thread Guru, well said. The unknown elements are which makes this fight so interesting. Peter is an undefeated heavyweight prospect looking to shake things up in the division. And Wlad is a talented heavyweight looking to comeback after several tough loses and impose his will in the division. Great matchup and surely a fun fight to watch...if it happens.

i'm not saying that wlad will walk over peter, but how do you know he won't?? we have yet to see if peter can handle a big punch or if he can handle a good boxer like wlad... peter's opposition has been very light, he hasn't faced anyone on wlad's level, while wlad has faced several top fighters(byrd, mccline, barrett, brewster, sanders)

We'll just have to wait and see. I just don't see how you can pick a guy who has been KO'd in Wlad and think that all of a sudden its gonna change because he is fighting a younger fighter. Wlad has experience but has it helped him thus far? I can't see how Wlad is gonna walk over Sam Peter... I just can't.

plus does peter have a chin ? he sure has no neck and looks sturdy but who knows ?
peter does look like he can take a punch, but so did that other nigerian fighter dokiwari and he got KO'd by a nobody
Peter is going to knock Wlad's head off...
yeah, its going to be the first time in boxing history that somebody's head gets knocked clean off their body. everybody better listen to this guy, he knows what hes talking about.

only one person has had an easy time with wlad and that was sanders, a 6'4" southpaw with a quick, powerful left hand... peter is nothing like sanders... i suspect if peter wins, it'll be a tougher fight like wlad/brewster rather than a blowout like wlad/sanders...
